Dewey Edward LUMMUS (b.09/25/1899 Paris TX d. 12/26/1967 Teague, TX). Dewey married Lillie Pearl LIVELY 12/05/1922. Son of Clark LUMMUS & Mary Elizabeth TURNER. Siblings of Dewey: Henry Matthew (b. 1925, never married), Lula May (married Earl ALLEN 7
had two kids; Katie Mae & Ralph), Clark L., Olan, Nolan (twins born 06/20/1914 in Leon CO TX) and Mattie Merial(b.10/11/1906 married George CATO). Seeking info on his mother, Mary Elizabeth TURNER as family story has it she was the daughter of a well-
to-do East Texas family who disowned her for marrying Clark as he was said to have Indian blood in him. Elizabeth died 12/24/1916 of the Swine Flu. Clark followed her in death on 03/14/1917 allegedly of another wave of flu with his immune system weaked be
cause he crawled into a bottle in grief. Information says that Clark LUMMUS was born in 1875 while Mary Elizabeth TURNER *might* have been born in 1874. Both are said to be buried in New Hope Cemetary.
