PASSED AWAY TUESDAY LAST

On Tuesday, Feb. 14th, after being sick for several weeks with cancer of the stomach, Wm. Barfknecht, a prominent farmer of the town of Richmond, passed away at his home.

The deceased was one of the most prominent farmers of the town of Richmond and by his hard work and industry had made one of the best farms in that town. He was born in Germany Nov. 11th, 1855, and came to this country with his parents in 1875 and they settled in Oshkosh for a short time. That fall he moved to the town of Richmond and has lived there since. In 1881 he was married to Miss Elvina Teetzen and 9 children were born to them, 3 of whom have passed away, one son having been killed by a tree falling on him a few years ago. Those living are Mrs. Chas. Hoernke of Richmond, Mrs. Blain Page of Shawano, Mrs. Otto Spitzberger and Mrs. David Heling of Richmond, and Miss Mary and Robert who are at home. There are also 3 sisters, Mrs. Wm. Sperberg, Mrs. Wm. Wendorf of Richmond and Mrs. John Wruck of Fond du Lac.

We do not know as Mr. Barfknecht ever held any public office, but he was highly respected in his home town and had a large number of friends. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon and was largely attended. The deceased has been a member of that church for many years. The pallbearers were Ernest, Fred and Chas. Engel, Albert and Wm. Teetzen and Aug. Luedtke.
