The death of Mr. SAMUEL W. Porter, of Belle Plaine, father of A.K. and Joseph Porter, this city took place at his home in that town on Sunday last, aged 85 years. Mr. Porter was quite an old resident of the town and county, having arrived here from Pennsylvania 26 years ago. He had been in very poor health for some time and his death was not unexpected by the family.

Besides an aged wife and two sons mentioned above he leaves a daughter, Mrs. J. L. Spencer and also two sons Ab. and William residing in Belle Plaine. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at Belle Plaine, Rev. J.B. Cooper officiating and was largely attended by the people of that section, among whom the deceased was held in high esteem.
