anniversary of sixty years last Wednesday 31 January in the home of their

Mr. Rollmann was born on 22 June 1818 in Soest, Germany and she was born
on 14 October 1835 in Radegast in Ahnalt-Dessen. Mrs. Rollman, Amalie
born Fricke came to this land in 1847. He came in 1848. They
were married on 31 January 1852 in Town Marshfield, Fond du Lac County,
where they lived until 1875 when they moved to the city of Fond du Lac.
In 1876 they moved to Chilton and lived there until 1909, when they came
to Shawano to make their home with their daughter. The children of
this couple are: Henry Rollmann of Chilton, Alfred Rollmann of Milwaukee
and Louis Rollmann and Mrs Albert Wippermann of Shawano. V.W. Thurs 22 Feb 1912, Page 31 ZACHOW, Jacob C. of Cecil celebrated his eighty-fifth
birthday on 10 February. Mr. Zachow was born in 1827 in Damsuhl,
Crivitz, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He grew to manhood and worked in a
textile factory in Germany. In 1850, he came to America and settled
in the area of Buffalo, N.Y. Shortly after his arrival here, his
finance, Johanna Pingel had arrived from Germany. The young couple
were married in the area of Buffalo. The following children born
into this marriage were: John, who died at age thirty-seven years,
Wm. C. Zachow, an outstanding businessman of Shawano County, also the daughters,
Mrs. Paul H. Meyer and Mrs. Frank Istas from Cecil and Mrs. Joe Grab of
Shawano. About 1856 Mr. Zachow came with his family from the west
and settled on a farm in Greenville, Outagamie County. They moved
from there to Seymour where he farmed and managed a hotel. They came
to Cecil in 1855, worked a few years and then retired to be with his wife
who is still sprightly. The old gentleman is a man of amazing mental alertness with
a wide interest in the issues of the day and is one of the greatest readers
of German literature in Shawano County as well as this German paper.
Even today he is able to read several hours without the use of glasses.
He had a good sense of humor. His host of friends wish him many more
enjoyable unclouded years. V.W. Thurs 14 Mar 1912, Page 14 BISNER, August (Mrs.), seven children and a son-in-law
arrived here from Posen, Germany last Saturday. Her husband has been
in this country four years and is presently working in Neopit. V.W. Thurs 30 May 1912, Page 36 SELLE, Wilhelm and August celebrated their golden anniversary
on the 22 May on the farm of Albert Selle in Town Winchester, Winnebago
Co. The couple are one of the oldest settlers in our County.
The large number of guests included neighbors, relatives and friends coming
from all directions. Father Selle with a golden bouquet and Mother
Selle with a golden wreath joined with the group under the shade trees
by the house as Pastor F. F. Selle of Shawano, youngest son of the couple,
conducted the celebration. He began with praise and thanks to the
goodness of our God for blessing their fifty years of marriage. A
brief story of their life was given. The couple came to America shortly
after the Civil War and settled in an area of virgin timber which is now
their residence. It took hard work and determination to clear the
land and create their beautiful home. Father Selle held several offices
in the Town and was head of Zion Lutheran Congregation for many years.
Seven children were born in this marriage: Heinrich, who died as
a child in Germany; Ferdinand who had studied to become a Pastor and was
called to serve in the State of Oregon but died a half year later and his
body was brought to his parents home; Albert, with whom they lived; Herman who lives on a farm near by;
Wilhelm who lives on a farm in Town Fairbanks, Shawano County; Franz, Pastor
of St Jakobi Ev. Lutheran Church in Shawano, Wisconsin; and Anna, wife
of teacher Aug. Krenke who are now in Bremen, Kansas. All twenty
nine of their grandchildren were present for the occasion. The couple
are still sprightly and may they live many more years together with the
will of God. V.W. Thurs 8 Aug 1912, (Sheboygan Newspaper), Page 49 SCHMIDT, Friedrich W. A terrible accident occurred last Monday afternoon
around three o’clock on the farm of Friedrich Schmidt in Section 15 of
Town Sherman, about two miles south from Adell. Lightning struck
in a group of four children who were beside the house, putting up a swing.
One boy was dead, and another was still unconscious on Tuesday morning,
severely burned and in critical condition. Another boy is also severely
burned but out of danger, while the girl had slight injuries, which after
five minutes was back to normal. The dead boy was Fred Walter Schmidt, a little over seventeen
years of age and son of Pastor Herman Schmidt in Shawano County, who was
visiting his uncle. Willie, the nine year old boy, son of Friedrich
Schmidt is out of danger, but the eight year old Philip is still in critical
condition and Minnie was back to normal after five minutes. Mr. Schmidt went to Adell Monday forenoon to get a swing
for the children. Around three o’clock the children were working
at installing the swing in the garden about twenty feet from the house.
The girl, Minnie, was sitting on the porch watching. Mrs. Schmidt
was watching from the window in the house. The bolt of lightning
blinded Mrs. Schmidt for a minute and then noticed the four children stretched
out on the grass. V.W. Thurs 5 Dec 1912, Page 51 WERNER, Robert (Mrs) (FOESCH), who lives in the area
