Stevens County

This page contains files for the present Stevens County, founded in 1858 as 1st Spokane County, then renamed Stevens in 1864. This county has an unbroken administration in Colville from 1858 until the present. For a brief period in 1863 a second county, original Stevens, was formed where Okanogan County is now. That county was disestablished and merged into 1st Spokane County at the time of it's renaming in Jan. 1864. It is doubtful whether any records exist for this original Stevens County, but some records are extant for 1st Spokane, including the marriage record found below.
