Tucker/Lumpkin Cemetery, Pittsylvania County, VA
Location: Iris Lane (Rt. 740), north of the New Testament Baptist Church
(Cemetery is not on the church property), Pittsylvania Co, VA
Latitude: 36° 38.216’ Longitude: 79° 24.394’In a Pittsylvania Co, VA Clerk of Court Map Book, we found a plot of a
Lumpkin Estate, (which was once owned by Joseph B. LUMPKIN) which is
basically located just outside the Danville corporate limit between VA 740
and VA 742, just south of VA 743.We found the New Testament Baptist Church on VA 740, with open land behind
it. Located in woods to the north of that church, we found the family
graveyard that had been referred to in the Will of the G. M. Tucker,
Pittsylvania Co, VA who left the $1000 to put the monument in the Tucker
graveyard. It was covered up in briars and trees, as it has not been cared
for in many years. We have cleared the cemetery of the briars and trash, and
plan to go back again to care for it.The cemetery is also mentioned in a deed beween Hosea E. Wilson and Ronald
J. Thompson, for Lot 12 of the Hosea E. Wilson subdivision, sect 151 E.
