Berry Hill Plantation 3105 River
Road, on 650 acres. Built by James Coles Bruce with his slaves and very little other
assistance, started in 1828 and finished the mansion in 1832. Built on was part of the
original William Byrd tract and inherited from Isaac Coles by Edward Coles Carrington, who
sold it to his first cousin, James Coles Bruce. A National Historic Landmark.
