Rebecca Vaughan House Rebecca was
daughter of Arthur and Martha (Collier) Foster, widow of Thomas Vaughan. In 1831 when Nat
Turner came through, Rebecca her two sons and a niece where at home. The niece, and two
boys, Arthur and George, were killed outside. Rebecca asked to go up stairs to pray, and
they shot her twice while she was on her knees praying. The house has now been moved to
Courtland, VA.
