Bruington Church Organized in 1790. Here Robert Semple (1769-1831), one of the most noted Baptist Ministers in Virginia, long served and here he is buried. This building, the third, was erected in 1851. Contributed by George Seitz |

County Courthouse Occupying the same site since the formation of the county in 1691, it was built on land given to the county by Mr. Edmund Tunstall, and was burned and rebuilt twice. Exol Baptist Church Constituted in 1775 by John Waller and is the third oldest Baptist Church in the county. It closed its doors sometime in the 1930s. Photographed and Contributed by George Seitz |

Greenway Samuel S. Gresham was manager of a general store and postmaster of Newtown when he built his house in 1845. Seven years later he enlarged the house by adding the section on the east and raising the roof to two full stories. Later an addition increased the length of the structure by adding a one-story wing to the west side of the house. It is known locally as the Turpin House and is part of the Newtown Historic Distric. The Lot Built before the Civil War. It has five fireplaces, plaster crown moulding and medallions. The floors are heart-pine. The property includes an original two story slave quarters. Mattaponi Baptist Church Probably built between 1730 and 1734. (The W.P.A. guidebook says about 1755) This was a church of St. Stephen's Parish, constituted in 1691.
