Monday in South Carolina.

She was born in St. Marys, a daughter of the late George and Roannah 
Cornell Williams.  She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Richard C. Fadely of Columbia, SC; two 
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond and 
Ralph Williams, both of Akron, OH.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert Fadely.

Graveside services will be 2pm Wednesday at Oddfellows Cemetery in 
Parkersburg.

Fared A. Fairbee, 73, of Rt. 1, Middlebourne, died Saturday in the Wetzel 
County Hospital, New Martinsville.   He was a retired employee of the West 
Virginia State Road Commission and a member of the former Ash United 
Methodist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Susie Stevens Fairbee; three sons, carl, at home, 
Paul of St. Marys, and Charles of New Cumberland; seven daughters, Mrs. 
Viola Robin, New Philadelphia, Mrs. Nina smith and Miss Naomi Fairbee, both 
of Middlebourne, Mrs. Betty Ingold, wheeling, Mrs. Louise Higgins, East 
Liverpool, OH, Mrs. Elizabeth Good, Salem, OH, Mrs. Carol Leek, 
Middlebourne; one brother, Ike Fairbee of Wick; 25 grandchildren and 27 
great-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home, Middlebourne.  Interment 
was in Fairview Cemetery, near Middlebourne.

Gladys E. Fankhauser, 81, of Vienna, died Aug. 29 at Heartland of Marietta.  
She was born at Willow Island to the late William and Beulah L. Dearth 
Phelps.  She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Vienna.

Surviving are her care givers who are also a sister-in-law and brother-in-
law, Irene and Clarence Douglas, of Vienna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Fankhauser; one son, 
Thomas Fankhauser; and one brother, Carroll Phelps.

Services were Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg.  Burial was 
in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Oliver Clayton "O.C." Faris, 77, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 8, in 
Worthington Manor Care Center following an extended illness.

He was born in Marietta, OH, a son of the late Mr. and Ms. James Faris.  He 
was a retired salesman with Wharton Cadillac Olds Company and attended the 
First Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Fredrecia Mayer Faris; one daughter, Marchia Lou 
Kahn of Sacramento, CA; one son, Clay Faris of Belmont; one sister, Marchia 
Barrett of Hendersonville, TN; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Faris; and two brothers.  
Services were conducted at 11am Monday at the Ogdin Funeral Home in 
Parkersburg with interment in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Neva Joy Lauck Farley, 68, of Route 1, Marietta, died Sept. 2 at Marietta 
Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Newport to the late Harry Lauck and Georgia Edith 
Carpenter.  She was a Newport High School graduate and had lived in Dayton 
for several years before returning to Marietta.  She had been the general 
manager of East Lawn Memorial Park since May 1972.

Surviving are two sons, Fred Roberts Jr., of Gosnell, AR, and Charles 
Roudeski of Springfield, OH; one sister, Rose Marie Hays of Newport; one 
stepbrother, Vernard Sweezey of Dade City, FL; three grandchildren; and one 
great-grandchild.

Services were Saturday at Newport Baptist Church.  Burial was in Newport 
Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Farmer; three brothers, Kenneth and 
William Earl Knowlton Jr., both of New Matamoras, and Edward Knowlton of 
Newport.

Services were Monday at Matamoras Baptist Church.  Burial was in Matamoras 
Cemetery.

Robert S. "Ted" Farnsworth, 84, of Access Road, Williamstown, died June 5, 
1993, at Mark Rest Center, McConnelsville, OH.

He was born in Raven Rock, WV, a son of the late Jacob and Hanna 
Farnsworth.  He had been employed at Fenton Art Glass Company and Central 
Trust Bank in Marietta.  He was a member of the Williamstown Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Goldia Hendershot Farnsworth; two daughters, Luella 
Hawkins of Ravenna, OH, and Joan Oliver of Williamstown; nine 
grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Services 2:30pm Monday  at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in Marietta, 
OH.  Burial in Burnt Hill Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Haught Farr.  He was preceded in death 
by his first wife, Agnes Farr; two sisters; and one stepchild.

Services were held Tuesday at Newport Baptist Church with the Rev. David 
Doddridge officiating.  Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Paul Douglass Farr, 72, of West Union, died Saturday afternoon  in Camden-
Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born in Kanawha County, a son of the late Arthur and Daisey Carlin 
Farr.  He was an Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of West Virginia 
University College of Law, a lawyer, a retired circuit judge, an oil and 
gas producer, a Protestant, a member of Post 3408 VFW, and American Legion 
Robinson Post No. 25, both of West Union.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Elizabeth "Billie" Gribble; a daughter, 
Ann Farr of Lewisburg; three sons, William A. "Hap" Farr II, P.D. "Pete" 
Farr, both of West Union, and John Carlin Farr of Chambersburg, PA; and a 
sister, Mrs. Arch Harmon of Charleston.

Services were held Tuesday at the Spurgeon Funeral Home in West Union.  
Burial was in the West Union Masonic Memorial Park.

home.

She was born in St. Marys, a daughter of the late John and Bertha Cobb 
Dotson. She was a charter member of the George Street Church of Christ, St. 
Marys.

She is survived by two sons, John Cox of North Plainfield, NJ, and James W. 
Cox of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Virginia Sue Buchanan of Columbus, 
OH, and Verna Lou Haven of Chuluota, FL; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Winfred Cox; her second 
husband, Herbert Farren; three brothers and one sister.

Services were Sunday at 1pm at the George Street Church of Christ in St. 
Marys.  Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.

Church for Mrs. Marjorie Bergen Farren, 72, of St. Marys, who died Friday 
evening in Cleveland Clinic Hospital.

The Rev. R. Dan Simmons officiated and burial was in St. Marys IOOF 
Cemetery.

Born in Marietta, OH, a daughter of the late Fred and Anna Robinson Bergen, 
she was a member of St. Marys United Presbyterian Church.  She was a 
graduate of Marietta College and a member of Chi Omega.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Judy Truscott of Pensacola, FL, 
Mrs. Kay Buck of St. Marys, and Mrs. Barbara Fritz of Chagrin Falls, OH; a 
brother, Dick Bergen of Marietta; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Lane of 
Parkersburg; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Her husband, Oran B. Farren, preceded her in death. 

The Ruttencutter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Church.

Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Farrenbaugh; four 
sisters and one brother.

Services were held at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Vaughan Funeral Home in 
Parkersburg.  Burial in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island.

Farris was a retired self-employed concrete contractor and a member of the 
Deucher Baptist Church of Deucher, OH.

He was born in Equality, IL, a son of the late Martin Luther and Arlena 
Phelps Farris.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Harrington Farris; seven daughters, Mary 
Kimball of Bronson, FL, Barbara Rea and Michelle Beans, both of Stuart, FL, 
Phillis Brady of Tempe, AZ, Beverly Lewis of Harvey, LA, Juanita McMemin of 
Port St. Lucie, FL, and Margaret Doan of Marietta; three sons, David Dwight 
Farris of Marietta and James Martin Farris and Anthony Farris, both of St. 
Marys; one brother, Martin Luther Farris Jr., of Ullin, IL; one sister, 
Hazel Gasaway of Ullin, IL; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Farris; and one 
brother, Wilburn Farris.

The funeral will be at 1pm Monday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. 
Marys.  Burial in East Lawn Memorial Park, Reno.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Herlan Farson of Coopersville, MI; one 
daughter, Connie Marshall of OK; two brothers, Don Farson of Waverly and 
Claude Farson of St. Marys; three sisters, Anita Brammer and Frances Hescht 
of Waverly and Joan Barnes of Belmont.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, Coopersville, MI.  He served in 
the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Services were held Jan. 24 at the Throop Funeral Home, Coopersville.  
Burial was in the Coopersville Cemetery.

her home.

She was born in Pleasants County and attended St. Marys High School.  She 
was employed at Fenton Art Glass Company from 1973 until recently.  She was 
an active member of Willow Island Baptist Church, where she served as a 
Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director, church treasurer, 
and was one of the first custodians.  She was also a member of the Baptist 
Women's Association, where she served as secretary and treasurer.

She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Farson; one son, David C. Farson 
and his wife, Cheryl, of Waverly; four grandchildren (unreadable)

She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde E. Cokeley Sr., on July 21, 
1997; her mother, Ethel M. McClure Cokeley on April 27, 1998; and two 
brothers, david and Walter Cokeley.

Services were Friday at Willow Island Baptist with the Rev. Ron Branch 
officiating.  Burial in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island.

years ago, and a member of Center Valley Baptist Church.

He was survived by his wife, Glenda Moore Farnsworth; two sons, John A. 
Farnsworth of Marietta and Francis M. Farnsworth, Jr., of Newport; two 
daughters, Mrs. Edward (Lamyra) Rinard of Rinard Mills, and Sandra 
Farnsworth, at home; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn 
Farnsworth of Matamoras; and one sister, Clarence Lucille Clegg of Weirton.

Services were held Sunday  at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in Marietta, 
OH.  Burial was in the Newport Cemetery.

John J. Farnsworth, 90, of Parkersburg, died at his residence Thursday 
after a sudden illness.

He was born in St. Marys, son of the late James and Jenny Brown Farnsworth.  
He was a member of the Baptist Church at Deucher, OH, was a World War I 
veteran, a 50-year member of Parkersburg Post No. 15, American Legion, 
(unreadable).

He formerly worked in the oil fields in Silverton, had owned and operated 
Farnsworth Trucking and had owned and operated the Camden Avenue Cash Mart.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha McIntosh Farnsworth; two 
daughters, Mrs. Robert (Juanita) Taylor and Mrs. Denzil (Mary) Twyman of 
Parkersburg; a brother, Ed Farnsworth of Wellsville, OH; two sisters, 
Nettie Thompson of Wellsville, and Betty Baker of Midland, PA; six 
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2pm Sunday at the Kimes Funeral Home.  Burial was 
in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Leona May, little daughter of C.F. and Alma Farnsworth, died at her home 
here of diphtheria November 6, 1911, aged 5 years, 1 month and 29 days.  
Leona was a very bright child, an obedient daughter, an affectionate sister 
and won the admiration of all who knew her.

She will be sadly missed in the home, but the Lord said, "Suffer little 
children to come unto Me for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." The 
bereaved parents have the sympathy of all.

The remains were laid to rest in the Odd Fellows Cemetery to await 
resurrection morn.

Brief services were conducted at the cemetery by Rev. Bircher of the Church 
of Christ of Penrith, OH.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Temple in East Liverpool, oH, and was a 
retired millwright for Crucible Steel.

He is survived by his wife, Violet Beagle Farnsworth; one son, Larry 
Farnsworth of East Liverpool; one brother, George "Bill" Sheldon of New 
Matamoras; two sisters, Anna Farnsworth of Devola, OH, and Helen Thrasher 
of New Sommerset, OH; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church in East Liverpool.  
Burial was in the Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool.

Hospital.  She was born at Hills Post Office, Washington County, a daughter 
of William an Celora Carpenter Swaney.  She was a member of Newport Baptist 
Church and had been employed as a cook at the former Leader Restaurant and 
at Lafayette Motor Hotel.

Her first husband, Lawrence Valentine, preceded her in death.  On Feb. 28, 
1960, she married Lawrence Farr, who survives with one half-sister, Mrs. 
Margaret Place, Parkersburg.

Services were held t 1pm Monday  at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in 
Marietta, OH.   Burial in Valley Cemetery.

Oil Refinery, St. Marys.

His wife, Donna (Betty) Morris Farren, survived with one daughter, Diane 
Farren of the home; two brothers, Herbert and Bearl Farren, both of St. 
Marys; and two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Weekley, Newell, and Mrs. Gertrude 
Hall, St. Marys.  Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Services were held Sunday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys.  
Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.

retired in 1992 after 26 years of service in the snack bar at Camden-Clark 
Hospital.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Mancini Jennelly Farrow of 
Marietta; one son, Douglas Farrow of New Martinsville; one sister, Irene 
"Doda" and her husband, Richard Farrow of Parkersburg; three grandsons, 
Donald Wayne Farrow of Houston, TX, Tony Mancini of Huntington, and Ryan 
Kennelly of Lake Elsinore, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Farrow; one son, Wayne 
Farrow; one sister, Mabel White; and one brother, Okey Noland.

Services were Monday at Vaughan Funeral Home in Parkersburg.  Burial was in 
Evergreen South Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Claude Farson of St. Marys; three step-daughters, Anita Brammer and Frances 
Hescht, both of Waverly, and JoAnn Barnes of Belmont; one sister, Maxine 
McMullen of Friendly; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 step-
grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Moore; her second 
husband, Carl Farson; her stepfather, Harvey McMullen; and an infant son.

Services will be at 1pm Tuesday at the Waverly Presbyterian Church.  Burial 
in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island.

War II.  He was a senior electrical engineer at Goodyear Corporate 
Headquarters for 33 years until his retirement in 1987.  He was a member of 
Wadsworth Christian and Mission Alliance Church.

He is survived by his wife, Donza P. Fauss; three sons, Stephen G. Fauss of 
Page, AZ, David Fauss and Martin Fauss, both of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters,

businessman in the Parkersburg area for many years.

He was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church of Key and American 
Legion Post 378 of New Matamoras.  He was a truck driver and the former 
village marshal at New Matamoras.

On Feb. 6, 1965, he married Laura Lohri who survives, in addition to two

Hospital.  She was born March 15, 1933, in Morgan County, OH, to the late 
Thomas Wesley and Mable Agnes Bess Clark.  She was a lifetime member of St. 
Marys Nazarene Church, where she had played the piano for 40 years and had 
received the Nazarene Distinguished Service Award.

She is survived by her husband, Fredrick S. Ferguson; three children, Linda 
Cyrus and her husband, David, Beckey Buskirk and her husband, Jeff, all of 
Vienna, and Tom Ferguson and his wife, Debbie, of Morgantown; five 
grandchildren, Nathaniel Ferguson and Rob Ferguson, both of Mount Vernon 
Nazarene College in Mount Vernon, OH, and Brent Carrothers, C.J. Buskirk, 
and Cadi Buskirk, all of Vienna; three sisters, Loah Meaux of Marietta, 
Ruth Van Noy of Schultz and Sheila Clark McConkey of Cambridge, OH; three 
brothers, Henry Clark of Zanesville, OH, and Ronald Lee Clark and Daniel 
Lee Clark, both of East Fultonham, OH; one half-brother, George Lewis Jr., 
of Zanesville; two step-sisters, Carolyn Davis of Lubeck and Connie Smith 
of Nashville, TN; two step-brothers, Fredrick Meador of Beverly, OH, and 
Robert Meador of Tomball, TX; her step-father, George Lewis Sr., of 
Zanesville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Wilma Meador Clark; an infant 
brother, Timmy Clark; two brothers, William and Philip Clark; two half-
brothers, Lawrence and Buel Clark; and one step-sister, Jacque Clark 
Miller.

Services were Tuesday at Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys with 
pastors Tim Jones and Chuck Rogers officiating.  Burial in Willow Island 
Cemetery, Willow Island.

Cleveland, OH, and was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church in Big 
Springs.

She is survived by six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Thornton Ferrell, in 1973; 
one son in 1983; five sisters and three brothers.

The funeral will be t 2pm Tuesday at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with 
burial in Saunders Cemetery in Big Springs.

Carlos Ferrell, 88, of Buckhannon, died March 2 at St. Joseph's Hospital, 
Parkersburg.  He was born Aug. 22, 1901, in Logan County, a son of the late 
Larkin and Molly Fowler Ferrell.

Ferrell was a member of the Mt. Rupert Church.  During his lifetime he 
worked at various jobs including the mines in Logan and Upshur Counties, 
the shipyards in Maryland during World War II, the Hercules Power Plant, 
Randford, VA, and the State Road Commission in Buckhannon.  He was retired 
from West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon.

His wife of 58 years, Hill Ferrell, survives.  Also surviving are two sons, 
Christopher Ferrell and Timothy Ferrell, both of Buckhannon; two daughters, 
Joan McComb, Lansing, MI, and Theodora Guth Plumley, French Creek; and 
seven grandchildren.

He was retired from Monongahela Power Company, Clarksburg.  He was a deacon 
of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Alma, WV, a member of Hermon Lodge 
AF&AM No. 6 of Clarksburg, a member of the Wheeling Consistory, Nemisis 
Temple of Parkersburg, and Valley Grange No. 519 of Alma.

He is survived by his wife, Hester Hogue Ferrell; two sons, Dr. Robert L. 
Ferrell of Rapid City, SD, and James H. Ferrell, a retired US Air Force 
captain who lives in Plattsburg, NY; one daughter, Sharon Sue Ruskiewicz of 
Tampa, FL; one brother, Stanley Ferrell of Clarksburg; four sisters, Eythel 
Moore an Peg Smith, both of Paden City, Maude McMillian of Weirton, and 
Betty Willis of New Matamoras, OH; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, George Ferrell.

Services were held Wednesday at 11am at the Furbee-Goodwin Funeral Home in 
Middlebourne.  Interment was in the Beechwood Cemetery at Alma.

Nina Ferrell, 71, of Grantsville died Monday night  in Camden-Clark 
Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

The Calhoun County native was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth 
Rose Howard Riddle.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grantsville.   She was a 
retired nurse, have worked for a number of doctors in Grantsville for more 
than 35 years.

She is survived by two sons, James Riddle of Vienna and the Rev. Lewis 
Ferrell of Alexandria,VA; one daughter, Lois Lowther of Cairo; two 
brothers, Gene Riddle of Los Angeles and John Gaylord Riddle of 
Monroeville, OH; five sisters, Eleanor Duskey, Lorraine Rogers, Jeanette 
Robinson, Thelma Deel and Opal Riddle, all of Grantsville; and nine 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Ferrell, in 1973.

The funeral will be at 10am Thursday at the Stump Funeral Home in 
Grantsville with the Rev. Lewis Ferrell officiating with burial in the 
Mount Zion Cemetery.

She is survived by seven sons, Dale Yost of Hopewell, VA, Fred Yost, Otis 
Yost, roger Yost, and Gary Yost, all of Sistersville, Richard Yost of 
Oklahoma City, OK, and Ronald Yost of Norman Park, GA; two daughters, Hazel 
Workman of St. Marys and Patricia Swiger of Sheridan, AR; two brothers, 
Alva Guy Bowers of Sistersville and Raymond "Bud" Bowers of New Matamoras; 
one sister, Evelyn Martin of Sistersville; 34 grandchildren; and 54 great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred W. Yost, in 1974; her 
second husband, Gale H. Ferrell, in 1996; one son, Delmas Yost; one 
daughter, Lola Cole; one brother; six sisters; and four grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday at Community Lighthouse Church.  Burial in Willow 
Island Cemetery, Willow Island.

seven grandchildren; one brother, Donald R. Davis of Salem, VA.

March 11, 1902.  He was employed in the steel mills at Weirton for most of 
his life until retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Sade Tingler Fetty; a daughter, Mrs. Arnett 
(Lola) Baker; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four 
brothers, the Rev. Archie Fetty, Weirton, the Rev. Russell D. Fetty, 
Wheeling, Charles Jr., and Donald, St. Marys; five sisters, Mrs. Beatrice 
Holland and Mrs. Micha Tennant of Weirton, Mrs. Eliner North of Reno, OH, 
Mrs. Velma Hall and Mrs. Edith Elder of St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three sisters and two 
brothers.

Mr. Fetty was a member of the Methodist Church at New Cumberland.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Milo Smith at the Fields 
Funeral Home, New Cumberland, with burial in the Chapel Hills Memorial 
Gardens at Weirton.

retired engineer from both the C&P Telephone Company of WV, and the WV 
Telephone Company of St. Marys.

He was born June 9, 1934, in Ritchie County to the late Harry and Hazel 
Satterfield Flanagan.  He was a retired glass worker, having worked in 
glass making for more than 40 years.  He worked for both Mid-Atlantic Glass 
at Ellenboro and Fenton Art Glass in Williamstown.  He was a U.S. Navy 
veteran of the Korean War.  He attended First Baptist Church of St. Marys.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Carol Nichols Flanagan; two 
daughters, Pamela Kay Knuckles of North Fork, WV, and Tammy Lynn Poling of 
St. Marys; three sons, Rick Flanagan of Parkersburg, Roger Dean Flanagan of 
Harrisville, and Gary Lee Flanagan of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren; two 
stepsons, Jack Martin Jr., of Belpre, and Jeffrey Len Martin of Ellenboro; 
and five step-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11am at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home 
in St. Marys.  Burial in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island with 
military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 79 and Veterans 
of Foreign Wars Post 222.

Mrs. Flanagan was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church.  She was

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Darla) Henderson of Paden

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Flanagan, in 1959; a

Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

Mrs. Flanagan was a 1945 Pennsboro High School graduate, a homemaker and a 
member of the former Tollgate Baptist Church.

She was born near Pennsboro, a daughter of Edra Calhoun Doll of Reedsville 
and the late Archie M. Doll.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons, Mike Flanagan of 
St. Marys and Joe Flanagan and Greg Flanagan, both of Greenwood, Cabin Run 
Community; a daughter, Linda Hill of Byesville, OH; three brothers, John, 
George, and Ernest Doll, all of Pennsboro; a sister, Jean Summers of Pike; 
and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray J. Flanagan; and a brother, 
Archie Doll.

The funeral will be at 11am Wednesday at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home 
in Pennsboro.    Burial will be in Tollgate Baptist Cemetery, Tollgate.

in Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Columbus; one son, Robert Flanagan,

Chevallard of Columbus; two stepdaughters, Lisa Baker and Aymee Chevallard,

Graveside services were Wednesday at Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City.

Brown, and Mrs. Edythe Kittridge, all of East Liverpool, OH; one grandson

granddaughter and two brothers.

Services were held at 2pm Thursday at the Nine Mile United Methodist Church 
with burial in the Nine Mile Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Saturday for E. Turner Fleming, 84, a St. Marys 
banker and insurance executive who died late Wednesday night at St. 
Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.

Fleming, born Feb. 13, 1893, at Nine Mile, Pleasants County, was a son of 
the late Elias Turner and Susan Martin Fleming.  He was a member of the 
United Presbyterian Church, and began teaching school in Pleasants County 
at age 16.  He was a member of the St. Marys Kiwanis Club, a 50-year member 
of both the St. Marys Masonic Lodge No. 41 and St. Marys Lodge No. 22 IOOF.  
He was a member of the Nemesis Temple of the Shrine, Parkersburg, the Gold 
Coast Shrine Club, Boynton Beach, FL, and served as a member of the 
Pleasants County Board of Education and as committeeman for the Boy Scouts 
of Pleasants County.  He retired from the First National Bank of St. Marys 
after more than 50 years of services and was an insurance executive in West 
Virginia for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Leota Fleming; two sons, Edgar B. Fleming of 
St. Marys and Claude R. Fleming of Mt. Lebanon, PA; a stepson, Douglas 
(unreadable) of Parkersburg; one brother, Clyde Fleming of Pleasants 
County; one sister, Mrs. Grace Miller Whaley of Vienna; eight grandchildren 
and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Dunbar Fleming; a son, 
Robert D. Fleming, who died last Sunday; and a grandson, Thomas Fleming.

Funeral services were held  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys 
with the Rev. R. Daniel Simmons and the Rev. R.A. Atkinson officiating.

Edgar B. Fleming, 68, of St. Marys, died at his home Sunday evening.  He 
was born in Pleasants County, a son of the late E. Turner and Ida Dunbar 
Fleming.  He was a member of the St. Marys Masonic Lodge No. 41, a member 
of Nemesis Temple of the Shrine, Parkersburg, was a World War II veteran, 
member of Pleasants American Legion Post No. 79, St. Marys Volunteer Fire 
Department, (unreadable) and St. Marys BPO Elks No. 1701.

A member and elder of the St. Marys Presbyterian Church, he had operated 
Fleming's Grocery for many years, served as an officer of the First 
National Bank of St. Marys, and had owned Fleming Insurance Agency here 
until his retirement.

He made the county's first donation when the American Red Cross Bloodmobile 
made its initial visitation here and continued to contribute until he had 
given some 10 gallons before age restriction ended this service.

Unusually active in community organizations, he had been a member of the 
St. Marys Kiwanis Club, served as president of the Grant-Jefferson Lions 
Club and as member of the St. Marys City Council.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Parr Fleming; two daughters, Claudia 
Grimm of Mexico, NY, and Priscilla Boyles of St. Marys; one brother, Claude 
Fleming of Pittsburgh, PA; his stepmother, Leota Fleming of Parkersburg; 
and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Services will be held at 11am Thursday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in

She was a 1914 graduate of St. Marys High School and attended the 
University of Cincinnati.  She was a former elementary school teacher.  She 
was a charter member and past president of St. Marys Women's Club, past 
president of Western District of the West Virginia Women's Club, and served 
as state chairman of the Women's Library Service Project and state chairman 
of the Child Welfare Committee.  She was an active member of the Order of 
Eastern Star, having served as worthy matron and organist for her local 
chapter and as Grand Ruth at the state level.  She was also a charter 
member and past president of Pemberton Garden Club, an active member of the 
Episcopal Church, and a Sunday School teacher.

She was born in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Edward and Ella Gist 
Sayre.

She is survived by a son, Dan B. Fleming Jr., of Blacksburg; and four 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, former WV State Senator, Dan B. 
Fleming, in 1967; and a daughter, Eleanor Young.

Services will be 11am Saturday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St.

She is survived by three brothers, Stanley, Burl, and Ollie Fleming, all of 
St. Marys; two sisters, Evelyn Place of Davisville and Juanita Hendrickson 
of Belmont.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Lee Fleming Horner; and two 
brothers, Virgil Ray and Blaine Fleming.

Private services were held Saturday.  Burial was in Nine Mile Cemetery.  
There was no visitation.

truck driver in France and Germany during World War II.

Mrs. Mildred McFarland of Hebron, Mrs. Bernice Adams of Waterford, OH, and 
Mrs. Doris Dornon of Sistersville; two brothers, John Fleming of Orange, 
TX, and Friend Fleming of Belmont; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at 2pm Sunday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. 
Marys.  Burial in the Shawnee U.M. Church Cemetery.

He was born in Parkersburg.  He was a 935 graduate of Cairo High School and 
a 1939 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.  He was

Hazel Elliott Flesher, 88, of Springfield and formerly of Kent, OH, died 
Feb. 25 in Community Hospital.

She was born Aug. 31, 1903, at Willow Island, the daughter of John and 
Tabitha Myer Elliott.

Mrs. Flesher was a full partner in her husband's business enterprises, 
which included C.H. Flesher Sand and Gravel Company of Streetsboro, OH, and 
Standard Bred Horse Racing and Breeding.  During World War II she was 
employed at Ravenna Arsenal as Chief Clerk of the Transportation 
Department.  From 1951-71, she was employed by Akron City Hospital.  
Following her retirement in 1971, Mrs. Flesher moved to Springfield and 
pursued a variety of interests gaining greatest pleasure in her landscaping 
and garden activities.

She is survived by her husband, Garrett, of 68 years; one daughter, 
Patricia L. Flesher, of Springfield; one grandson, Stephen of Rockville, 
MD; one great-granddaughter, Kyle Elizabeth Cowen of Frederick, MD; one 
brother, Carroll Elliott of Williamstown; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Barbara Cowan in 
1965; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.

was a 1919 graduate of Marietta High School, and attended Marietta College 
and Denison University.

She is survived by a son, Joseph Flesher of Mahwah, NJ; two grandchildren, 
Joseph Flesher II of Euvreux, France, and Jennifer Flesher of West Newton, 
MA; and a sister, Grace Kiggins of Marietta.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Flesher, in 1956; and 
a sister.

The funeral was held at 2pm Sunday at Hadley Funeral Home in Marietta.  
Burial in the Parkersburg IOOF Cemetery.

Word has been received of the death of Dr. Marie Adamson Flesher on Nov. 25 
at her home in Little Rock, AR.

She and her husband, the late Dr. William Ray Flesher, had been educators 
in the St. Marys and Marietta areas and later served as education 
consultants throughout the United States.  They maintained scholarship 
funds at St. Marys High School, which Dr. William Flesher attended, and 
Marietta Senior High School.  They also established a scholarship fund at 
the Ohio State University.

Dr. Flesher was born July 7, 1906, in New Matamoras, OH, a daughter of the 
late John and Belle Berentz Adamson.  Her father was a former 
superintendent of the Washington County Children's Home.

She was a 1923 graduate of Marietta High School and earned a bachelor's 
degree from Marietta College in 1927. She taught Latin and mathematics at 
Williamstown High School in 1927-28, then taught at Waterford from 1928-31.  
She also taught at Beverly and Pomeroy.

In 1930 she was married to Dr. Willis Ray Flesher, who preceded her in 
death in October 1981.  He was a 1930 alumnus of Marietta College.

In 1935 she earned a master's degree from Ohio State University and earned 
a Ph.D. From that school in 1951.  She and her husband were long-time 
members of the Ohio State faculty.

In 1961 the couple left Ohio State to enter a private consulting business 
in Columbus.  For a number of years they worked throughout the nation as 
educational consultants, including being employed as consultants for the 
new Marietta Senior High School.

The Fleshers in 1968 established the Adamson-Flesher Scholarship Fund at 
Marietta College in memory of their parents, and in 1976 established the 
Mark Amstutz Memorial Scholarship Fund at the college in memory of an 
Adamson-Flesher recipient who was killed in an automobile accident prior to 
his senior year.

The Fleshers were awarded honorary doctor of law degrees from Marietta 
College in 1968, marking the only time a husband and wife have been so 
honored by the college.

Graveside services for Dr. Flesher were held Monday in Pinecrest Memorial 
Park in Little Rock.  She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Helen Adamson of 
Marietta.

Mrs. Flower was born in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and 
Jennette Dailey Brown.  She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist 
Church; a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, St. Marys Chapter; 
a 1921 graduate of Parkersburg High School, and Mountain State Business 
College.

Surviving is one son, Leo E. Flower Jr., of St. Marys; three 
granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Brown Jr., of 
Belpre; a sister, Virginia Clouter of Arlington, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Flower, in 1960; two 
brothers and two sisters.

Services will be Tuesday, 11am  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. 
Marys.  Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.

shortly after twelve o'clock Sunday night, after a long illness of 
paralysis.    Her remains were interred in the St. Marys Cemetery yesterday

The deceased was 70 years and 8 months of age, and had been a resident of 
this city about thirty years.  She is survived by three sons, M.H. Flower, 
Alonzo Flower and Richard Flower, and by four daughters, Mrs. W.L. Skaggs,

She had made her home in Marietta before going to Cleveland.  She had been 
employed at St. Alexis Hospital in Cleveland for 25 years.  She returned to 
Belpre in 1978 and came to Marietta two years ago.  She had been a member 
of the Belpre Church of Christ for 13 years before transferring her 
membership to the 6th and Washington Streets Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, James E. Smith, three daughters, Joan Smith 
Fridler and Susan Simek, both of Marietta, and Helen Needs of Waterford; 
one brother, Cleston R. Brown of Parkersburg; two sisters, Marie Stevens of

Flowers.  He moved to Whipple with his family as a small child, and later 
moved to Lowell with his wife.  He had been in the Civilian Conservation 
Corps, and had been a construction worker for Clarence Joy.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Williamson Flowers; three sons, Danny Flowers 
of the home, David Flowers of Marietta, and Robert Flowers of Arizona; one 
daughter, Linda Wriston of Arizona; three grandchildren; four brothers, 
Leo, Herbert, and Carlton Flowers, all of Parkersburg, and Dean Flowers of 
St. Marys; and two sisters, Mary Rogers and Betty Dulaney, both of 
Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by one son, Samuel Flowers Jr; and one sister, 
Mildred Cronin.

Services were Friday  at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in Marietta, OH.  
Burial was in Putnam Cemetery.

Mrs. Anna C. Flynn died Wednesday morning at City Hospital at Martinsburg 
after being in failing health since Feb. 14 when she fell.

She was born at Schultz, Pleasants County, the daughter of the late John 
and Bridgett Costella Ferguson.  She married John T. Flynn Aug. 16, 1922, 
at St. Marys.

She was a resident of 1003 South Raleigh St., Martinsburg, where she 
belonged to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Catharine) Virden, Jr., 
Grantsville, and Mrs. Dwane (Mary Anna) Hoeft, Harrison, MI; one sister, 
Miss Ella Ferguson, R.N., St. Marys; and eight grandchildren.

Requiem High Mass was held Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  Father 
John J. O'Connell officiated.  Interment was in Gettysburg National 
Cemetery.

Charles Byron Fogle, son of Rev. Charles E. Fogle, died at his home, 832 
Front Street, at 5 o'clock Sunday morning, after a lingering illness of 
tuberculosis.  Death was not unexpected.

The deceased was born at Belmont, February 11, 1898, and at the time of his 
death was just past 21 years of age.  He was a lifelong member of the 
Church of Christ.  In an effort to cure his illness the young man had taken 
treatment in different sanatariums and had traveled through the west.  He 
is survived by his father and one sister, Miss Esther Fogle, of Farmington, 
WV.

Brief funeral services were held from the home at 7:30 o'clock Monday 
evening and the remains were taken to Barnsville for interment.

died Jan. 1 at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.

She was born March 27, 1907, in Laverne, OK, to the late Richard and Ora G. 
Ross Foley.  She was a long-time resident of Pleasants County and taught 
first grade for 35 years at St. Marys Elementary School.  She was a member 
of the Celebration Center Church near St. Marys.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Opal Foley of 
Valley Farms, AZ, a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Frances Foley 
with whom she made her home in Tryon, NC; a sister-in-law, Mable Foley of 
Valley Farms, AZ; seven nieces and four nephews.

Services will be Friday at 1pm at the Celebration Center, Rt. 2, South, St. 
Marys.  Burial will be in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.

Donald MacLeod Foley, 73, died July 9 at his home in Valley Farms, AZ.  He 
was born in Woodard County, OK, April 9, 1910, a son of the late Richard 
Shanklin Foley and Ora Genevieve Ross Foley.

He was a former resident of Pleasants County and was employed by the U.S. 
Postal Service at Waverly as a rural mail carrier having retired in 
February 1983 with almost 42 years of service.

He was a member of the Waverly Presbyterian Church and a Master Mason of 
Williamstown Lodge No. 129, AF&AM.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Hutson Foley, of Valley Farms, AZ; four 
daughters, Katherine Spencer, St. Marys, Donna Lillard, Las Vegan, NV, Ora 
Nickie Rolston, Rosharon, TX, and Paula Foley, Valley Farms, AZ; two 
brothers, Richard Shanklin Foley, also of Valley Farms, and Douglas Foley, 
Waverly; one sister, Ambrosine Foley, Waverly; six grandchildren and three 
great-grandchildren.

Family services were held in Florence, AZ, July 11, with burial in the 
Florence Cemetery.

Parkersburg Chapter 14, Order of the Eastern Star, Bethany Shrine 4, White 
Shrine of Jerusalem, Hathor Court 3, Ladies Oriental Shrine of America, and 
Corinnes Clown Unit Hathor Court, Ladies Oriental Shrine North America.

She was born in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Zeldock and Isophine 
Hudkins Dye.

She is survived by one son, James A. Fordyce of Parkersburg; three 
daughters, Sharon Sue Maloney, Patricia Lou Hupp, and Elizabeth Ann 
Dennison, all of Parkersburg; one brother, Clifford Dye of Belmont; many 
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Levin James "Buck" Fordyce, one 
brother and three sisters.

Services will be held at 11am Monday, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

She was born in Washington County, OH, to the late Isaac and Julia

and a charter member of the Pleasants County Lioness Club.

She is survived by two sons, Charles R. Dearth of Fairfield Glade, TN, and 
David Dearth of Belmont; three daughters, Mary Lyne of Eureka, Carolyn Todd 
of Van Nuys, CA, and Emma Jean Clovis of St. Marys; 21 grandchildren and 19 
great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles E. Dearth; her 
second husband, Fred Francis; one son and one brother.

Services will be today at 2pm  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. 
Marys.  Burial will be in Newport Cemetery.

Parkersburg.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Lynn and Tawney Letita Francis, at

Mrs. June Jarris of Newport, OH; two brothers, Bruce Francis of Bealsville, 
OH, and Jack Francis of Marietta.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Services were held Monday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys.  
Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.

construction worker, veteran of World War II and a member of Newport United 
Methodist Church.

He is survived by one brother, Otis Francis of New Matamoras, OH; two 
sisters, Carrie Cochran and Ruth Dunn, both of New Matamoras; and a number 
of nieces and nephews, including William H. Hall, whom he raised.

He wa preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Services were held at 2:30pm Saturday at Newport United Methodist Church.  
Burial in Newport Cemetery with military rites.

Eugene Francis, both of Marietta; five daughters, Lenora Fryman, Grace 
Gossett, and Mabel Patterson, all of Marietta, and Iva Graham and Alice 
Stalnaker, both of Akron, OH; 32 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 
27 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Francis; two sons, Clifford 
Lawrence Francis and Robert Edward Francis; three brothers and two sisters.

Services were at 11am Saturday  at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in 
Marietta, OH.  Burial was in the Gravel Bank Cemetery.

Dalrymple of Rea's Run, and Enid Collins of Friendly.

from FMC Corp., and was a retired farmer.

He is survived by three nephews, Ronald, Donald, and Monzel Stoops, and one 
niece, Nellie Francis Hopkins, all of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Stoops Francis, and five 
brothers.

The funeral was held at 2pm Sunday at the Ogdin Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

Lloyd L. Franklin, 72, Quaker Hill, CT, died Aug. 3 at Lawrence Memorial 
Hospital in New London, CT, where he had been admitted after suffering a 
stroke.  He was the son of the late John and Ethel Franklin of Oak Grove 
Community, Pleasants County.

He served in the Coast Guard for 30 years, retiring in 1967.  After his 
discharge, he worked at Connecticut College in accounting administration 
until his retirement in 1977.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Cavanaugh Franklin; three sons, Lloyd of 
East Lyme, CT, Gregory of New Britain, CT, and Michael of Stonington, CT; 
one daughter, Mary Beth Foley of Oakdale, CT; two sisters, Inez Wingrove, 
Piedmont, OH, and Evelyn Childers, Follansbee; one brother, Virgil Franklin 
of Follansbee; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at the Thomas L. Neilan and Sons Funeral Home in New 
London, CT.  Burial with military honors was held in Arlington National

Smith, and had previously lived in St. Marys, Washington, D.C., and Akron, 
OH.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Asa Fitzwater, and by her 
second husband, Jesse R. Frantz; five sisters; four brothers; and three 
sons, Chester, Bernard, and Edgar Fitzwater.

She is survived by three step-daughters, Ruby Golech, Akron, Joan Smith, 
Carrollton, and Shirley Taylor, St. Marys; one sister, Evelyn Kraus, 
Cleveland; six grandchildren including Mrs. Brenda Dulaney of Belmont; 12 
step-grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, March 5, at Schermesser Funeral Home, Akron, 
with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron.

He was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Calhoun County, a son to the late Alvy and 
Lona G. Snyder Freshour.  He was retired from the U.S. Army and U.S. Air 
Force after 20 years as a master sergeant. He served with the U.S. Army in 
Okinawa and Guam during World War II and with the U.S. Air Force during the 
Korean War.  He was a member of (unreadable)

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Betty Coss Freshour; one daughter, 
Linda Brothers of St. Marys; one son, Gary W. Freshour Jr., of St. Marys; 
one granddaughter, Carrie Cockerham of Parkersburg; one grandson, Private 
Douglas Brothers Jr., of St. Marys; two great-grandsons (unreadable)

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary W. Freshour Sr; one sister, 
Lucille Beall; and three brothers, Denzil, Donald, and Bobby Gene Freshour.

Services were held Tuesday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys.  
Burial was in the Maple Lane Masonic Cemetery in Hebron with full military 
graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 79 and VFW Post 222.

Freshour was a member of the North Parkersburg Baptist Church.  She was 
born at Willow Island, a daughter of the late William and Etta Hawkins 
Irvin.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Sergent of Charleston, SC; three 
granddaughters; several stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George William Wells, in 
1944; and her second husband, Alvy Freshour, in 1978.

Graveside services will be at 2pm Friday at Willow Island Cemetery.

Lodge No. 1.

She is survived by one brother, Cecil Lawson of Venice, FL; one niece,

Robert Rawson of Follansbee, and Donald Rawson of Ashland, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lester Freshwater.  Services 
will be held at 1pm Thursday at the Willow Island Baptist Church.  Burial

Hospital Center, Clarksburg, following a long illness.

She was born in New Milton, a daughter of the late Henry Silas and Mary 
Lucy Ahouse Frey.  She was a retired office manager for ASCS for Pleasants 
and Ritchie Counties, a former member of the Doddridge County Emergency 
Squad, the Business and Professional Women's Club and St. Patrick's 
Catholic Church, West Union.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Argil (Marie) Starkey of Lake Floyd 
and Mrs. Joseph (Katherine) Andrasik of Northfield, OH; one brother, 
William H. Frey of Tallmadge, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services were held at 10am Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, West 
Union.  Burial was in the West Union Masonic Memorial Park.

Lodge No. 1701 B.P.O.E. where he served as a trustee.   He was a retired 
employee of Quaker State Oil and Refining.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ilene Heslep Fricker; three daughters, 
Mrs. Martha Nichols of Vienna, Mr. Sarah Bailey of Coolville, and Mrs. 
Barbara Knotts of Parkersburg; five grandchildren; and two great-
grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2pm Friday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in 
St. Marys.  Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.

Marjorie Sutton Fritz, 84, of Huntington, a native of Sistersville, died 
Friday at St. Marys Hospital.  Fritz was a 49-year resident of Huntington.  
She attended Marshall University and was a charter member of Enslow Park 
Presbyterian Church.  She was also a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern 
Star.

She was born in Sistersville, a daughter of the late John and Martha 
Sutton.  She is survived by a daughter, Susan Fritz Daciek of Linthicum, 
MD; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy G. Fritz in 1959.

The funeral will be 7pm today at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington, 
with the Rev. Paul Rader officiating.  Graveside services will be 2pm 
Monday at Greenwood Cemetery, Sistersville.

Scott of Pasadena, CA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Creel Frum in 1948.

Stewart of Bens Run; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Frum, in 1969; and a sister, 
Ina King.

Parkersburg, died Thursday at his home.

Fruth was a former sheriff of Mason County, serving two terms; a former 
chief of police at Point Pleasant and a member of Ironworkers Local 787 of 
Parkersburg.

He was born in Mason, WV, a son of the late Christopher and Elizabeth 
Manley Fruth.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Burnette Fruth; a son, Robbie Fruth of 
Point Pleasant; a daughter, Marsha Carpenter of New Haven, WV; a sister, 
Christine Fruth of Point Pleasant; a brother, Ralph Fruth of Ashton, WV; 
and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl "Buck" Fruth.

Follansbee and Mrs. Lloyd Carter of Mabelton, GA; and one son, Day Fry 
Baltimore, MD.  There is one step-son, Charles Gillespie of Wellsburg, WV; 
and six grandchildren.  One sister, Mrs. Knowlton, and three brothers, Geo. 
Of Avella, PA, Harry and Henry of New Matamoras survive.

She was born in Monroe County (Benton Township), a daughter of the late 
John Franklin and (unreadable) Ann Givens Black.  (unreadable) She was a 
69-year member of the Salem Hall United Methodist Church where she taught 
Sunday School, served as church treasurer and held many other offices.

when on to teach at Pine (unreadable) Pine Ridge, Lewisville, Beallsville, 
Woodsfield, and Shadyside, before retiring in 1960.  After retirement, she 
taught again at Matamoras Elementary for three years.  She was a member of 
the Grandview Rebekah Lodge No. (unreadable), Matamoras Order of the 
Eastern Star Chapter No. 261, and the (unreadable)

She is survived by her husband, William Henry Fry; one sister, Hazel C. 
Weddle of New Matamoras; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude Dillon, Ella 
(unreadable), and Lizzie Belle Black; and one brother, Herman.

Services were held Tuesday at Hadley Funeral Home in New Matamoras.  Burial 
was in the Matamoras Cemetery.

Elizabeth Elmora Fugate, 67, of Pleasantville, PA, formerly of Pleasants 
County, died Sunday at Grandview Health Care in Oil City, PA.

She was born in St. Marys, a daughter of Joseph Birkhimer and the late 
Eldora Hecklethorn Birkhimer.  She had been a patient in Grandview Health 
Care since 1989.  She was a 1942 graduate of St. Marys High School and was 
a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Oil City.

She is survived by her husband whom she married in 1942, Roger Fugate of 
St. Marys; a daughter, Janet Hildebrand of Selingsgrove, PA; two sons, 
James Fugate and Robert Fugate, both of Oil City; nine grandchildren; one 
brother, James Birkhimer of West Lake, OH; two sisters, Jeannette Griffin 
of Windfield, WV, and Sandra Birkhimer of St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by her mother, and an infant son, Joseph Roger 
Fugate.

The funeral will be 8pm Tuesday at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home in 
Titusville, PA.  Local services will be 11am Thursday  at the Ruttencutter 
Funeral Home in St. Marys.  Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.

Mrs. Fulmer was a former cook at the Highway Grille, Belmont, where she 
worked for 30 years, and was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist 
Church and the Hope Circle.

She was born in Pleasants County, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and 
Asenath Copenhaver Mercer.

She is survived by two brothers, Ralph Mercer and Russell Mercer, both of 
St. Marys; one sister, Connie Pemberton of Marietta.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence T. Fulmer, in 1978; 
three sisters, Genevra Cox, Lucy Scadden, and Epsie Fox; and two brothers, 
Labon and Abe Mercer.

The funeral will be at 1pm Thursday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in

War II Army veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Waggoner of Glenville and Emma Jane Boley of St. Marys; a sister, Gertrude 
Baxter of St. Marys; two brothers, Ralph Fulmer of San Gabriel, CA, and

Services were held at 11am Wednesday  at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in 
St. Marys.  Burial in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island.

Water Well Association and the West Virginia Farm Bureau.

Laura A. Fulmer, 89, of Fairview Avenue, Parkersburg, formerly of Eastlawn 
Avenue, died May 8, 1998, at her sister's home.

She was born in Petroleum and was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, 
where she had been a deaconess.  She was a self-employed seamstress.  She 
was a member of the Daughters of American Loyalty 55, where she was a past 
state associate counselor and a member of Degree of Honor.

Survivors include one sister, Cora Weekley of Parkersburg; and 17 nieces 
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen J. Fulmer; one sister, Ruth 
Dulaney; and six brothers, Noel, Aubrey, Ralph, Bruce, John, and Floyd 
Higgins.

Services will be 1pm Monday at Ogdin-Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg.  
Burial in Evergreen North Cemetery.
