  ROBERTSON, Irene Boucher  07/22/08  Daily American
  
    Irene Boucher Robertson, 93, Ontario, Calif., died July 16, 2008, following several
  years of declining health. She was born in Rockwood on April 30, 1915, to Michael Grant
  and Columbia (Walker) Boucher. She was predeceased by her brother, Scott Boucher,
  Rockwood; her sisters, Gladys Nicholson, Addison; and Ferne Johnson, Altoona; as well as
  several nieces and nephews. Three nieces and a nephew survive, Judy (Boucher) Ogline,
  Rockwood; Alice (Nicholson) Peary, Addison; Peggy (Johnson) Melley, Parkton, Md.; and
  Stephan Boucher, Rockwood. She graduated from Rockwood High School in 1931. Irene grew up
  on the Boucher farm near Rockwood. It was purchased by her great-great-grandfather in
  1801. Her uncle was Dr. Ross Hemminger, Somerset. Irene attended the one room Schaff
  school which was built on a corner of the Boucher farm. Irene's grandfather, Solomon
  Boucher, married Mary Ann Schaff in 1851. The Schaff family settled near Rockwood c.
  1790. In 1937 Irene married John Martin Robertson, Johnstown. During World War II they
  lived in Detroit where Irene worked as a riviter. Following divorce Irene and her nephew,
  Robert Nicholson, Addison, drove to California. Here she found fulfilling work, nursing.
  Later she studied horticulture at the University of California. Irene enjoyed the
  California climate, gardening and especially her cats. Her ashes remain in Pomona,
  Calif., beside those of her beloved companion, Jim Kindell, who was from the San
  Bernadino area.
