Author: Charles M Reed Jr.
Jemima Tilda McClinsey was born 07 Aug 1862 in Bell Township, Clearfield
Co.Pennsylvania to James McClinsey and Catherine M.(Spencer) McClinsey. Family
lore has that she had a child by a man with the last name of Wise. The Child
was born in 1880 and was named John Ardery Wise. Jemima married Matthew
William Reed son of Amos Read and Sina(Reed)Read.
Jemima is located in the 1870 and 1880 census of Clearfield County
Pennsylvania. I have not been able to located her since that time. Matthew is
living in Happy Twp, Graham County Kansas with George and Susannah Cathcart in
1900. Susannah is Matthew's sister. Jemima and Matthew had the following
children; David Lewis Reed, Mamie J.(Reed)Bright, James Nelson Reed, Arvey
(Reed)Graves and Charles L. Reed.
Matthew and several of the children eventually moved to Crawford,
Rogermills County Oklahoma where they are buried.
Arvey Died in a train explosion in Herrington Kansas and died in 1919
leaving three girls and his wife, Alice McPhail. James Nelson Reed never
married and died a farmer in Crawford. Mamie moved in with James when her
husband, John Wiley Bright was killed in a train accident in Three Rivers
Michigan. She had two boys and a girl when Widowed. Mamie died in Shattuck
Ellis County Oklahma and is buried in Crawford Oklahoma. David Lewis Reed died
in a car train accident in the Pampa Texas area and is buried in that area.
Charles was last known to be living in Miles City, Custer County Montana and
may be the one who died by carbon monoxied poisoning and is buried in Butte,
Silver Bow County Montana.
It is not known what happened to Jemima, however, Matthew's census reads
that he is widowed and his death certificate reads that his is divorced.
Jemima's Mother's (Catherine)obituary reads that Jemima was in Grampian,
Clearfield County Pennsylvania as Jemima Wright in 1911 when Catherine died.
Additional Comments:
I have photographs of each of the children. I have an affidvait of birth for
David Reed that was completed by Andrew Jackson McClinsey Jemima's brother in
1945 shortly before Jackson's death. It tells about Jemima and Matthew's
births.
