Jack, William J., My Husband, 1833 - 1894, Section 2, Range 6, Lot 2 owned by
Gertrude M. Bereus, [William J. Jack was born in Kittanning, Armstrong County,
PA. He and his wife Nancy appear in the 1870 and 1880 census records of
Pittsburgh, along with as many as 10 children, two of them marked as step-
children of William, James and Mary Linsenbigler. William was listed as a
laborer. He died in Pittsburgh at age 62 of paralysis. His wife Nancy is also
in the plot. She died at age 69 of valvular heart disease and was interred on
February 3, 1909. She has no tombstone. The couple is interred in the plot
owned by Gertrude Bereus, along with some of the Rumell family. It is not known

9, [William Jackson appears on the 1930 Pittsburgh census with wife Bessie,
living on Bellefonte Street. He was working as the manager of a transfer
company. Also in the house was Bessie’s widowed mother Martha Hopson who was
born in Virginia, as was Bessie. Martha’s daughter Helen and her husband
Nathaniel Bandridge were also in the house. William died on February 14 1937 of

[was born in Virginia on 4 June 1840 according to his tombstone. Army
Enlistment papers give a date closer to 1837, as he was 26 years old when he
signed up with Company L of the 11th US Colored Heavy Artillery unit on 7
December 1863 in Providence, Rhode Island, his occupation at the time was that
of a farmer. The regiment was sent to Pass Cavallo, Texas where it served as
an unattached unit with the 13th Army Corps, and then served in the defense of
New Orleans and Baton Rouge. It was assimilated into the 8th Regiment on 4
April 1864, then into the 11th US Colored Heavy Artillery on May 21, 1864.
Henry was mustered out on 2 October 1865. Attempts to trace him through the

1910 when Martin worked as a conductor. They had a son Roy and daughter Esther.
By 1920 they lived in Aspinwall with another daughter Eleanor. He died in

Larimer Avenue in Pittsburgh’s 11th Ward during the 1930 census. The census
stated that he was born in Louisiana and was a plasterer. His wife Mary was
younger by 13 years and born in South Carolina. A World War I draft card with
the same birthdate indicates he was born in Mississippi and living in Laurel
Miss. At the time the card was filled out. The 1920 Laurel census has him
married to a wife named Bertha, actually older than him. This may be the same
man buried in Greenwood. He died in Pittsburgh at age 35 of cerebral

E. Johnston, [was the daughter of Dr. W. E. Johnston of Etna, a physician and
surgeon, and his wife Julia whose maiden name was Kennedy. Virginia was born
in PA and when she appears on the 1920 Etna census, she was selling tea and
coffee. That year she was living in her widowed mother’s house with her
brother Verne and sisters Eleanor and Elizabeth, as well as an aunt, Louise
Kennedy. Virginia died in Pittsburgh of broncho pneumonia at age 38.], ,

Johnston, Guy C., 1854 - 1929, Father, Section 3, Range 5, Lot 5 owned by Guy
C. Johnston, [Guy Clement Johnston was a mill laborer who lived in Pittsburgh’s
10th Ward in 1910. He had been born in Ireland and immigrated around the year
1866. The first census he is found in is the 1880 Pittsburgh census in the
Lawrenceville area. At the time, Butler Street was still a rural community with
the homes unnumbered. Guy was the oldest child living in the home of his
parents, William and Ann Johnston. In 1900 Guy was married to wife Wilhelmine
and was a mail carrier. In 1910 he was at one of the local mills, as were 2 of
his sons. He died on August 9, 1929 at age 75 of cancer], (contributed by Diane

Guy C. Johnston, [Wilhelmina Johnston was the wife of Guy Johnston. In the 1910
census she appears as the mother of 8 children: Martha, Harrison, Henrietta,
Lawrence, George, Calvin, Melvin and Vernon. She states in that census that she
was born in Ohio. Her parents were both born in Germany. She died in Pittsburgh
at age 79 of a hemorrhage on November 14, 1940. She was interred on November

Jones, [Buried in November of 1894, William T. Jones is listed in interment
records as a soldier. He died at age 71 of asthma. However, it is not certain
which William Jones in census records would match the one buried in Greenwood.
There is a William Jones in the 1890 veteran’s census who was living in Verona.
He had been a private in Co. B of the 77th PA Infantry and had enlisted on
September 20, 1861 and was discharged in December of 1865. But other census
records in Sharpsburg in 1850, 1860 and 1870 may indicate that the William
Jones of the 30th PA Infantry who was also in the 3rd PA Heavy Artillery is a
possible candidate for this burial. His wife is listed as Wennie, age 48 in
the1860 census. The Civil War Pension Index (wife Winifred) has the above units
listed for him. Bate’s History does not solve this problem. Since the William
Jones of Verona is noted as re-enlisting, multiple units may have his name.
Although William does not have a tombstone, there are two stones for Estelle
and Harry Carlisle within the lot. The stones in the background belong to the
Sarah Moore lot. There is no indication that his wife “Wennie” is buried in the
lot, if he is the Jones of the 30th PA Inf. Other unmarked burials in the plot

Kammer, John, 1880 – 1938, Father, Section 5, Range 6, Lot 14 owned by John
Kammer, [John Kammer was always considered to be the son of John Kammer, the
Civil War veteran who lived in O’Hara Township for many years. But a family
historian has presented another scenario that answers many questions about John
Kamer and his wife Dorothea. It turns out that young John was actually the son
of John Kammer’s brother Charles. In 1880 while John and Doro were living in
Etna, a family tragedy had taken place to Charles in New York City. His young
wife, Catherine Buck Kammer had died, leaving a very small son named John.
Unable to care for the infant, Charles gave him to the widow Matilda Nickal and
her brood of children while he buried his wife and tried to live a normal life.
The 1880 census shows him at age 6 months. In 1881 young John came to live with
his uncle and aunt. The 1900 census of the family shows young John, at age 20,
with an “A Son” next to his name. Long considered to be a small lettering
mistake on the census, it may actually mean that he was adopted. Charles later
lived in Louisville, Kentucky, where he died. John Kammer married Mary Lollo in
Steubenville, Ohio, according to the same historian, then spent his life in and
near Sharpsburg raising 3 children, Nellie, Margaret and John. He died in
Pittsburgh on May 15, 1938 at age 58 of cerebral apoplexy. He was interred on
May 18 next to his wife Mary. In the same plot is a Helen Lewis, who may be the
daughter Nellie of the later census records, and Margaret Blankenhorn and her

in Temperanceville and Chartiers Township before settling in Sharpsburg.
Ludwig, also indexed as Louis, worked as a miner after the Civil War, but died
in 1899. Elizabeth stayed in Sharpsburg, living on North Canal Street, but died
at age 65 and was interred on April 4, 1907. Also interred in this lot are 2 of
her daughters, Clare and Louise, who lived together in Sharpsburg up through

single interment, and even though no census record of her can be found, someone
thought enough to provide a tombstone in an area where there are few. She was

Keil, [Ella V. Hilbert Keil was the wife of John Jacob Keil. They were probably
married during the year of the 1880 census, where they are found as a young
couple. Ella was 24 and stated that she was born in Iowa, although later census
records also give Ohio as her birth place. The only child that ever shows on
census records with the couple was their daughter Margaret C., however, a
possible son, Raymond, is in the plot. Ella died in Etna at age 71 of a
carcinoma of the lungs. She was interred on October 27, 1930, 3 days after her

J. Keil, [Raymond Hilbert Keil was probably the child of John Jacob Keil and
Ella Hilbert of Sharpsburg. He was born in Sharpsburg in 1882, only two years
after the couple’s marriage. He died at age 2 months and 15 days of spinal
meningitis. He was first buried on May 30, 1882 in Section 4 in the plot owned
by Sharpsburg’s prominent citizen, Peter Prager. On November 12, of the same
year, he was the first interment in the new Keil family plot in Section 2. His
death was apparently deeply felt in the family, as Ella never referred to him

Keil, [John Jacob Keil was one of five sons of Jacob and Dorothea Keil of
Sharpsburg. His parents were both born in Germany and in the 1860 census were
landlords of a hotel. An 1886 article in the local Herald newspaper stated that
father Keil apparently left Spangs Furnaces with Lewis W. Lewis to work at the
Vesuvius works. At the same time he rented the old Union Hotel, which was run
by his wife Dorothea. The boys all grew up in Sharpsburg while their father was
involved in many of the social groups of the town. John Jacob became a druggist
and pharmacist which required a vast friendship with many of the town’s
residents. He and his wife Ella only had one known child, their daughter
Margaret. John died in Etna at the age of 72 of cardiac asthma. He was interred

shoe repairman. A 1900 census was found that gave his parents as James and
Maria Henley, with Ottoway as one of 8 children. In the 1920 census, he was
married to wife Mary, and in 1930, living on Wylie Avenue in Pittsburgh, he
owned a shoe repair shop. He died in O’Hara Township at age 46 of tuberculosis

Kennedy, Amos, Co C 124th PA, d. 26 Sep 1886, Section 3, Range 10, Lot 12,
singles, [was born about 1823. By some accounts, he was born in PA, but in the
1880 O’Hara Township census, he claimed he was born in Ohio. In August of 1862
he joined the 124th PA Volunteers in Chester County. Given little time to
drill, they were ordered to the front within 3 weeks and took part in both the
Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville campaigns. By May of 1863 they had been
returned to Harrisburg and disbanded. In 1870 he lived in Lancaster County
with wife Rebecca and 2 small daughters, but 10 years later, he lived as a
boarder in O’Hara Township, a single man. He died of unknown causes 26
September 1886 and was buried in a single grave the next day. His wife applied
for a widow pension, but no certificate was issued to her], , (contributed by

of Civil War veteran William H. Kennedy. She was born in Pa and William in
Ohio. From 1855 to at least 1880 they lived in Mahoning County Ohio, where
their 6 children were born. In the 1900 and 1910 census she was living with
her husband and youngest daughter Luella in Sharpsburg. She died in Etna in
1913 of chronic nephritis only 1 month after her husband], , (contributed by

Kennedy, William H., Pvt. Co.D. 155th Ohio Vol, Enlisted 2 May 1864,
Discharged Aug. 27, 1864, Born Feb 5, 1829, Died Sept. 21, 1913, Section 4,
Range 8, Lots 11 & 12, [was born in Ohio in 1829. He became a member of the
155th Ohio Infantry when the 92 Regiment of the Ohio National Guard and the
44th Battalion of Mahoning County were consolidated into the 155th. It was
organized at Cincinnati for 100 days. In that short time, they marched to West
Virginia, then to Washington DC and later to Elizabeth City, North Carolina
where they were to capture horses and gather contraband. The unit were
mustered out on August 27, 1864 in Ohio. William returned to his wife and
family in Youngstown, Ohio where he worked as a carpenter. By 1890 he lived in
Etna and later in Sharpsburg. He died of heart failure at age 84 in Etna], ,

Johnston, [was the daughter of Civil War Veteran William H. Kennedy and his
wife Eleanor. In the 1860 census of Youngstown, Ohio, she was still an unnamed
infant of one month. (Her tombstone does not have the correct birth year) Her
father, a carpenter, soon joined the Army and went to war. Went he returned,
they stayed in Youngstown, but eventually moved to Sharpsburg. When her
parents died, she moved in with her aunts Louise and Virginia in the home of
Dr. W. E. Johnston of Etna. Luella, or Lulu, as her parents called her as a

all of the early census records give his age differently. He was a carpenter
who lived in Millvale in the 1870 and 1880 census. The name is so common in
Western PA that it is uncertain exactly where he came from before his marriage,
although it is consistently listed that he was born in PA. No interment
information is given in Greenwood records beyond the fact that he was interred

Kerr, Helen A., 1845 – 1936, Mother, Section 2, Range 8, Lot 15 owned by James
Kerr & Casper Wagner, [We believe that Helen Augusta Kerr was the daughter of
Casper (Kaspar) and Elise Wagner who are also buried within this plot. In the
1860 Indiana Township census, she was a 15 year old child, born in Bavaria.
Within the next 5 years she married James Kerr. In 1870 they were living in
Millvale with their son James, then 4 years old. By 1880 she also had a
daughter Mary Virginia, born about 1872. She is listed as Ellen or Eleanor in
these census records, and also listed as being born in Ohio. Without a
passenger list of the family, this mystery will not be solved. She died in
Millvale on January 31, 1936 at age 90, the cause being chronic myocarditis.

Kerr, Caroline Louisa, wife of James S. Kerr, --- daughter of B---- Campbell

Year of her age, [In spite of weeks of research, nothing has been found for
Caroline to establish her identity in history. There are so many Campbell and
Kerr families and none seem to contain all of the components on the stone,
especially since the date of death is obscure. The Greenwood interment records
do not even show her placement in the plot. It is thought that the remains were
moved from the Sharpsburg Presbyterian Church graveyard in the 1880s. She rests
next to Sarah Campbell, the wife of James Campbell, pastor of the church, and

Kiefer, Ludwig, illegible, [was identified as a Civil War veteran by the Sons
of the Union Army, belonging to Company G of the 94th PA Regiment. Only the
94th was never completed and recognized as a unit. There is a Ludwig Kiefer
listed for both the 62nd and the 74th regiments in many on-line indexes. The
man in Greenwood died in West Penn Hospital as a result of an accident in
Sharpsburg in March of 1899. A pension index card for Ludwig has his widow
Elizabeth’s application of April 19, 1899, and the card indicates Co. G. of the
74th PA Infantry. With the dates coinciding, we consider our Ludwig to be from
the 74th. He was mustered in on 10 October 1861 and discharged on 16 November
1864 at Grafton, West Virginia. There is a possibility that he was captured,
and spent time in Libby Prison in 1863. His grave is the 10th from the left in
the row of stones behind the Soldier’s monument in Section 5], , (contributed

April 17, 1892 on the ship “Rugia” with two infant children, Helena and Ludwig,
both under 1 year old. No name of her husband has been found, leaving the
possibility that her husband immigrated earlier and died before 1910. She had
other children, including sons William and August, both born after her arrival

Kimble, William, (no tombstone), Section 5, Range 10, Lot 17 owned by William
Kimble, [William Kimble was probably the son of Timothy and Margaret Kimble of
West Deer Township. He was born about the year 1839 according to interment
records at Greenwood, which would approximately match the uncertain dates in
the 1850 census. He was a member of Co. D of the 139th PA Infantry during the
Civil War and was apparently transferred to the 1st Veteran Reserve Corp, Co.
E. After the war, he married and lived for a time in Richland Township with his
wife Isabella and their growing family. William’s father also lived with them
in 1870. By the 1890 Veteran’s census, William was living in Sharpsburg and it
was noted that he had been wounded in the knee and was crippled and receiving a
pension. His wife died in 1900 and was the first burial in the family plot at
Greenwood. She was followed by their daughter Mollie who died of consumption. A
son named William died in 1912 of apoplexy, then William himself on January 2,
1926 at age 87 of the same complaint. He was interred on January 5th], ,

Kimmel was the wife of Samuel Kimmel of Pittsburgh. She was born in London,
England and immigrated around the year 1908. In 1920 they lived on Pennsylvania
Avenue with their 3 children, May, age 9 who was born in Ontario, Canada,
Fannie, age 5 born in Ohio and Samuel, age 2, born in PA. In 1932 young Samuel
died at age 14 of chronic endocarditis. May only lived 3 more years. She died
on February 14, 1935 at age 55 of valvular heart disease and was interred on
the same day. Also buried in the plot is her son Samuel who was interred on

Township. The interment information at Greenwood claims he was also born in
that township, but census data does not support it. He appears in the 1870 and
1880 census, where he and his wife Catherine raised several children who all
died rather young. When he died in 1891 at age 44 he was buried in the old Pine
Creek Cemetery in Indiana Township. He and 3 of his children were removed from
Pine Creek and buried in Greenwood on October 17, 1914. The family has some of
the few entries that give death information for a removal, stating that he died

Thomas. She raised at least 3 children, George, Amelia and William, all
interred in Greenwood and dying young. She cannot be located easily after the
early death of her husband, but died in Pittsburgh at age 50 of influenza], ,

King, Lewis W., 1874 - 1932, Father, Section 2, Range 3, Lot 4 owned by Lewis
King, [Lewis W. King was the son of Norman King and Margaret Mulholland of
Etna. Norman, in 1870 was a newly married man, with relatives of his wife
living next door. His children included Lewis, Artlissa, Norman and Clyde, and
he worked as an iron roller. Lewis followed his father’s lead and also worked
in a roll shop, eventually becoming a superintendent, then foreman in the shop.
He and his wife Anna appear in Aspinwall in 1910 and 1920, living with his son
Lewis W. and daughter Grace E. By 1930 the couple had moved back to Shaler
Township. This is one of four King family plots in the older sections of
Greenwood. It includes 5 older burials that were removed from the Sharpsburg
Presbyterian churchyard on May 12, 1880. There is no indication in our records

King, [Anna E. King was the wife of Lewis King of Aspinwall and Shaler
Township. She had two known children, Lewis and Grace. Her maiden name is not
known, however, the first burial in the family plot (1879) was a David Wallace,
age 32, born in County Down, Ireland. It is possible that he is related to
Anna. She died on November 29, 1938 in Beaver Falls, at age 63 of pancreatic

census, Andrew lived in Pittsburgh’s 9th Ward and worked as an auto mechanic.
He had been born in PA but did not know where in the US his parents were born.
He and wife Maude lived at #4934 Hatfield Street. In the household were a step-
daughter Ethel Bower, a niece, Beatrice Brown and a sister-in-law, Jessie S.
Ward. Andrew died on March 3, 1939 of uremia. He was 60 years of age and died
in Pittsburgh. He was interred on March 5, 1939], , (contributed by Diane

Kirkpatrick, Maude May, Section 6, Row 5, grave #4, [Maude Kirkpatrick may
have been the second wife of Andrew Kirkpatrick. In the 1930 census of
Pittsburgh’s 9th Ward, the couple also lives with a young Ethel Bower. Ethel is
labeled as a step-daughter to the head of the household, Andrew. This could
mean that Maude’s first husband had the last name of Bower. There are no dates
on her tombstone, so arrangements were probably made to have the stone made
after the death of Andrew in the grave next to him. At her death, the dates
were not inscribed. She died after 1940, as her name does not appear in the old

Lot 8 owned by Mrs. Charlotte Kiskadden, [Everett Ellsworth Kiskadden was the
son of John and Susan Kiskadden who lived in Etna during the 1870 census. He
was the youngest of 6 children at the time, and mistakenly listed as a daughter
Ellen, just 4 months old. By 1880 his father was raising 4 children alone,
apparently widowed in the previous 10 years. John worked in a rolling mill, and
stated he was born in Ohio, although all of his children were born in PA.
Everett died in Etna of heart failure. He was interred on July 3, 1899. Also
interred in the plot is an infant who died at birth in 1897 and a 3 month old

#1737 is an unnamed Kietzkey who died in Sharpsburg of smallpox. Neither
spelling gives any information in census records. The child was interred on

Kitzki, Fredericka W., 1871 – 1940, Mother, Section 1, Range 5, Lot 7 half lot
owned by Fredericka Kitzki, [Fredericka Kitzki was the wife of John Kitzki. She
stated on the 1900 census that she immigrated from Germany in 1886. She and
John had been married for 7 years and she had 4 children born between December
1893 and October 1898. In 1910 she had 8 living children and had lost a child.
In 1920 she and John had 6 children still living with them along with boarders.
She died in Sharpsburg on May 25, 1940 at age 68 of liver disease. She was

Kitzki, John, 1861 - 1931, Father, Section 1, Range 5, Lot 7 half lot owned by
Fredericka Kitzki, [John Kitzki immigrated from Eastern Prussia on July 24,
1891 on board the ship “Amsterdam”. He was a 27 year old farmer. His name was
spelled Kitzke on the ship list and on many US census records. In 1900 he was
living in Pittsburgh’s 18th Ward at #6318 of Butler Street with wife Fredericka
and 4 children. He was a laborer in the oil works. In 1910 he had moved to
O’Hara Township, living on Cecil Street with 8 children and had switched to
working at the pickle factory. John died in Sharpsburg at age 68 on January 11,

and Lever. Born in Fulda, Germany about 1830. Enlisted in Company A of the
1st Regiment of the West Virginia Infantry in September of 1861. Re-enlisted
as a Veteran Volunteer in the 2nd Regiment in 1864. After the war, he enlisted
in August of 1865 at Wheeling West Virginia in company I of the 2nd US
Infantry. He was discharged August 11, 1868 at Louisville, Kentucky. He died
on 10 January 1899 somewhere in the Pittsburgh area and was interred in
Greenwood through the Holzheimer & Bock Funeral Home in Sharpsburg. No

1910 census in the 9th Ward of Pittsburgh. Living on 24th Street with his wife
Louise, the couple had been married for 1 year and had a daughter, Ruth. George
was working as a crane man in a foundry. In 1920 the family had moved to #1401
Middle Street in Sharpsburg. Two more daughters had been added to the family,
Irene and Grace. In 1930, on Main Street in Sharpsburg, George was working as a
truck driver for a brewery, and the family had added Helen, George, Mary and
James. In 1930 George claimed to have been born in Germany, immigrating in
1886, while other census records stated that he was born in Ohio], ,

George Klein. She married at age 19 and raised 7 children. She stated on all

Klein, Jacob, (plot marker), Co. B. 18 PA Inf., d. 11 May 1921, Section 1,
Range 20, Lot 10 owned by John A. Hartman, [Jacob Klein was born on September
21, 1872, probably in the Etna area. His father worked in the local rolling
mill. Jacob enlisted in the 18th PA Volunteer Infantry for the Spanish American
War on April 27, 1898. He was discharged on October 22, 1989 with his company.
In 1920 he was found back in Etna, where he had married Catherine Hartman, the
widow of John Hartman. Catherine had 6 children, so Jacob inherited a whole
family with his marriage. Unfortunately he died on May 11, 1921 in Pittsburgh.

Kleinfelter, Jesse, (view 2 , 3), 1833 - 1875, Section 5, Range 17, Lot 7,
[Born in PA, Jesse was identified by the Sons of the Union Veterans in 1982 as
a Civil War veteran who was a member of the 4th Regiment of the US Regular
Army. He enlisted 24 March of 1864 in Pittsburgh, giving his occupation as a
boatman. The 4th Infantry had been so depleted that it consisted of only 150
men. They became the guard for General Grant’s headquarters and were present
at Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. After marching in the Grand
Review in Washington DC at the war’s end, Jesse was discharged 24 July 1865 in
Fort Columbus, New York. A member of a distinguished family connected to the
riverboats along the Allegheny, Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, Jesse was still
boating on the river in 1870. He died at age 42 of sclerosis of the liver on
27 February 1875 in Indiana Township. Other family members are buried within
the Greenwood plot, including Jesse Sr’s brother Horatio Rush Kleinfelter and
daughter Emma Kleinfelter McKnight, none have tombstones], , (contributed by

William Mulholland, [Rebecca Mulholland Klinefelter was the daughter of William
and Artlissa Mulholland. The name of her husband is not known, as she first
appears on the 1880 census as a widow, living with her parents. In 1900 she was
living in Sharpsburg on North Canal Street with Norman Howenstein and his
family. In 1910 she was working as a private nurse in the home of Richard B
Mellon on 5th Avenue. She died in Sharpsburg at age 80 of cancer on January 3,

keeper in a steel mill. He died in Pittsburgh on December 20, 1926 at age 77 or

Sharpsburg next to her daughter Violet Kelso in 1920. Eliza died in Pittsburgh

Koehrer, John, d. 25 Jul 1875, age 38Y, Section 6, Range 6, Lot 18 owned by
Sharpsburg Lutheran Church, [John Koehrer and his wife Katherine are a bit of a
mystery, partly because their last name is possibly spelled in so many ways in
the 1870 census. One 1870 census record shows a John and Catharine Kerer in
Allegheny City. He was a shoemaker. A check of the immigration data on Ancestry
shows many Koehrers coming from Wurttemberg in the 1850s and 1860s. One good
prospect is a Johannes Koehrer from Dornstetten, in the Freudenstadt district
who applied for emigration in May of 1857. In 1870, the Johan Koehrer of
Allegheny City has a 3 month old daughter named Louisa. No information is
listed in the interment record of Greenwood, as the couple was moved from the
graveyard of the First Evangelical German Lutheran Church of Sharpsburg on

may have lived in Allegheny City in 1870 with a young daughter Louisa. There
was a John Koehrer adopted by Frederick Heinz in 1880, age 9. He stayed in the
Sharpsburg/Aspinwall area for many years, and may be a child of John and
Katherine. Katherine’s remains were moved from the Lower Road cemetery of the
church to Greenwood on March 24, 1903, the result of a road project], ,

easily is indexed for him. In 1920 he and his wife Ernestina appear on the
Shaler Township census, living with Fred and Minnie Mehringer on Parker Street.
Minnie is perhaps a daughter. He died in Shaler on December 3, 1928 at age 73

Kosloski, Ernestine, 1859 – 1920, Mother, Section 5, Range 4, Lot 4 owned by
Gottlieb Kosloski, [Ernestine was the wife of Gottlieb Kosloski of Shaler
Township. She may or may not be the wife Marie that immigrated on the ship
“America” in May of 1888 with Gottlieb and 2 chilren, Bertha and Albert. The
first and only census she is easily found in is the 1920 Shaler Township
census, taken right before she died. She died on February 26, 1920, according
to Greenwood records, so either the census or the date at Greenwood is
incorrect. Her death happened in Etna at age 61 of apoplexy. She was interred

and family were living in Kansas in 1879 when his daughter Hattie was born and
in Ohio between 1881 and 1884, when 2 other children were born. After 1888 they
lived in the Sharpsburg/O’Hara Township area. The 1900 census shows the family
on Middle Street in Sharpsburg with Balser and his second wife, Gussie, and 8
children. Balser was a grocer, but by 1920 he was retired. He died on December
12, 1933 in Sharpsburg at age 85 of chronic myocarditis. He was buried in the

immigrant Balser Krause who lost his first wife, Caroline in 1896. They married
before April of 1899 when their first child, Evaline, was born. She and Balser
and his 6 children by his first wife lived at #1501 Middle Street in Sharpsburg
in 1900. Gussie also had a son, Raymond, with Balser in 1900, but the child
died within 2 months. In 1930 she and Balser still lived on Middle Street. She
died in Sharpsburg 5 years after her husband’s death. She was 74 years of age

clear. After the death of her husband, she and her children remained in
Pittsburgh in the 16th Ward, as well as a grandson, Frank Hawkins. From 1910
until her death, she lived with her son John A. and his family. She died in

Theodore Kunde, [Katherine was the wife of Theodore Kunde, a German born
immigrant to the US. In 1900 the couple lived at #5257 Carnegie Street in
Pittsburgh’s 18th Ward. They had 6 children, Lillie, age 9, Willie, age 8,
Eddie, age 6, Emma, age 4, Harry, age 2 and Katie age 1. On October 31, 1909
she died in O’Hara Township at age 39 years, 11 months and 20 days of
tuberculosis. She left behind her husband and a household of 8 children,
including the children under 10 years of age - Walter, Robert and baby Edith
who was apparently born just before her mother died. All appear on the 1910
O’Hara Township census with their father, who was working as a watchman.
Katherine was interred on November 2, 1909. Also in the plot are her husband
Theodore, who died in 1918, and children William, Edward and Robert], ,

C. Richards. Although the people on the tombstone cannot be found in census
records, we can make some deductions about this family with the information
giving in interment records and one census. The owner died in 1915 – Sadie
Patton Kunze Richards. Apparently Sadie (Sarah) Patton married Gustav Kunze, a
German immigrant. He died in June of 1894 at age 37 of typhoid and was interred
on June 6, 1894. One month later, their 9 month old son Harry died of cholera
infantum. He was interred on July 17, 1894. One month later, their infant
daughter, Mary Jane Alma Kunze, died of cholera infantum at age 28 days. She
was interred on August 9, 1894. Sarah married John Richards by 1890 and had
James C. and Alvin Richards, as well as twin children who died in 1897 in
Bakerstown. Sarah (Saidy) Richards was found in Richland Township with husband
John and sons in 1900. Alvin died at age 21 in Pittsburgh, a victim of
drowning, and was interred on June 19, 1911. Poor Sadie died on September 9,
1915 in Shaler Township and was interred on Sept. 12 at age 56. Her interment
was followed by her son James in 1968 and his wife Hazel Kunze in 1943], ,

is buried within the family plot of Henry H. Overbeck. She may be his daughter,
born in 1870, as a child of that name appears in the 1870 Mahoning Township,
Lawrence County PA census with her as the youngest child. Also in the household
are her mother, Sarah, age 42, and children John, 17, Roseanna, age 12, and
Cornelius, age 3. Roseanna is listed as being born in Louisiana, which raises
an interesting question. In 1890, there is a Henry H. Overbeck listed in the
O’Hara Township Veteran’s Schedule as a confederate soldier who was living in
the South at the time of the war, and who was a deserter. A list of prisoner’s
reports that he walked into the Union lines at the time of capture. Henry, born
in PA, was a brick mason in Pine Woods, Catahoula County, Louisiana in 1860. No
further trace of Sarah has been found in census records past 1880, but she was
interred in the plot on October 4, 1940. A Mike Kuster was interred on January

Lambie, [John Lambie Jr. was the 6th 0f 10 children of John Lambie and Margaret
Thompson. John Sr. was a Scottish immigrant and Margaret was the daughter of
John C. Thompson. John Jr. was born in 1842 in the area north of Dorseyville,
perhaps in the area of the current West Deer Township. He watched his older
brother James sign up in the Army at the start of the Civil War. He waited
until May of 1861, and then traveled to West Virginia with his brother Robert
to join. He was in Co. G. of the W VA Infantry, Co. F of the 3rd W VA Cavalry,
and in Co. G. of the 1st W VA Light Artillery. He was discharged on June 30,
1865. After the war he married Lena Miller and had three children. Living in
the north for a while, he also traveled to Washington D. C. often, where he had
relatives. He never signed up for a military pension, being young and healthy.
He died suddenly in the street of Bloomington, Maryland of a cerebral apoplexy
on an extremely hot day. He was buried in Section 3 on July16, 1887, but his
wife purchased a family plot in Section 2. John was moved there in November of
1888. John and Lena are the only interments in the lot. Neither has
tombstones. The lot is located next to the main cemetery road, near a very old
Saint lot at the beginning of Section 2 and across the road from the Burbank
monument. The next group of tombstones belong to the Kreiter family], ,

Lambie, [Born in 1850, Lena Miller married John Lambie at the Sharpsburg
Presbyterian Church on June 9, 1874. The couple lived in Sharpsburg near O’Hara
Township in 1880 with their young daughter Margaret. One source mentions a son
named William, but by 1900 when Lena lived on Middle Street as a widow, only
Margaret and young John A. were alive. Young John A. had been born in Maryland,
near Washington D. C., so we suppose that the family traveled back and forth a
bit, living south near John’s relatives there before moving back to Pittsburgh
again. Lena was making ends meet by working as a dressmaker in 1900 She filed
for a widow’s pension and collected $8 a month. She died at age 55 in
Sharpsburg and was interred on August 1, 1905], , (contributed by Diane Nichols)

Lamont, [David Lamont was born in 1841 in Kirkmadden, Scotland, the son of
Peter and Grace McClive Lamont. He arrived in America on the ship “Iowa” which
departed from Glasgow and arrived in New York on June 9, 1868. The ship list
states that he was a draper and age 26. By 1880 he was married to Jane Granger,
the daughter of John and Sarah Granger of Sedgley, Staffordshire, England, who
had also immigrated to America. They had 1 child, a daughter Jesse, age 1, and
Jane’s sister Ellen, age 13, was also living in the house. David was working in
a blast furnace. He died in Pittsburgh on December 30, 1927 at age 85, a victim

old daughter Mildred. He filled out his World War I Draft card in Pittsburgh
and stated that he was self employed in a landscaping business. But by 1920 he
was living as a single man, a laborer with an engine company. He died in
Pittsburgh at age 37 of lobar pneumonia. He was interred on February 27, 1931],

Wilkinson and his wife Matilda. The family lived in Pittsburgh’s 25th Ward in
1900, when Edith was 7 years old. She was one of 8 children born to the couple,
and on of the 6 still living during the census year. The name of her husband is
unknown and she apparently had not been married long before her death. She
appears with he family in the 1910 census. She died on December 10, 1911 at age
19 of tubercular laryngitis and was interred on December 13], , (contributed by

Jacob Law, [was born in Ohio to Jacob Law and his wife Electa. Very little is
known about Allen, other than he is listed as a veteran of the Spanish American
War. On-line searches have not turned up positive proof of his service. He is
found in the 1880 census of Portsmouth, Scioto County Ohio as a 3 year old with
his parents and 3 siblings. In 1910 there is an Allen Law living in Butler
with wife Claudia and 4 month old child. He was an electrician and may be this
man who died in Pittsburgh that same year of valvular heart disease. Perhaps
he came to Pittsburgh for treatment. His widow is not in the family plot], ,

Law, Jacob, 1839 - 1912, Section 2, Range 18, Lot 14, owned by Jacob Law, [was
the father of Spanish-American War veteran Allen Law. He was born in PA,
perhaps in Blair County where his father and mother, Thomas and Elizabeth Law
were living in 1850. Thomas Law was a forgeman and moulder and seemed to move
about wherever the work was, Ironton, Altoona and Allegheny Twp. Jacob also
went with his work, living most of his married life in Portsmouth, Ohio where
he was an engineer at steel mills. By 1910 he was a widower and lived in
Pittsburgh with his daughter Grace and her child Richard. Although age 69, he
was still working. He died in Brackenridge, PA of pneumonia and was buried in
February of 1913, according to cemetery records, although his tombstone has the

of Civil War veteran Thomas Lawrence. Born in Wales, she was left alone with 3
young children in 1861. She waited for 3 long years while her husband fought
in the war. She had been listed as Hannah in the South Pittsburgh in 1860, but
was listed as Ann in 1880. She had 4 known children. Ann died in March of
1894 in Sharpsburg, only 3 months after her husband died. Also interred in the
plot are her daughters Sarah, who died in Swissvale in 1928, and her daughter
Elvira (Haugh) who died only 8 months after her mother. Neither girl has a

Lawrence, Thos., Co E 63 PA Inf, Section 3, Range 7, Lot 8, [was a member of
Company E of the 63rd PA Volunteers. He enlisted on 9 September 1861 in spite
of being married with 3 young children at home in South Pittsburgh. He was
mustered out with the company on 9 September 1864 after being severely wounded
at Nelson’s Farm at the 7 Days Battle. He and wife Ann had one more child and
lived in Sharpsburg in 1880 where he worked as a puddler, but his injuries kept
him from working steadily. He had applied for an invalid’s pension in 1879.
Thomas died in Sharpsburg of dropsy on Christmas Day 1893, at age 68], ,

[the third known child of Mansfield B. Lea and his wife Mary. Born in
Sharpsburg, he died in Etna of consumption at age 16. His remains were the
first to be buried in the family plot at Greenwood. Interment records indicate
his name was Mansfield B. Lea, like his father and the 1880 census of Shaler

Lea, Katheryne V., (monument), 1897 - , Section 3, Range 14, Lot 5, [was the
daughter of Mansfield and Mary Lea. Born in the Shaler –Etna area, she was one
of the last children born to the couple. She stayed with her mother after her
father’s death, working as a saleslady and a clerk in various local stores.
She never married and died in October in 1977 in the Etna area. The year of
her death has never been carved into her tombstone. Another child (stillborn)
of Mansfield and Mary was buried in the family plot in 1896, the year before

Lot 5, [was born in PA in 1846. His parents, William and Mary Lea lived in
Upper St. Clair Township in the 1850 and the 1860 census near other Lea family
members. Mansfield enlisted in Company G of the 87th PA Volunteers on 26
February 1865 when he reached 18 years of age. He was mustered out 29 June
1865 at Alexandria VA and returned to his parent’s house in Allegheny City. He
married shortly after 1870 and lived in Shaler Township where be became a
machinist. Suffering from the effects of rheumatism, he died in Etna at age 58

Lea, Mary ELizabeth, (monument), 1855 - 1943, Mother, Section 3, Range 14, Lot
5, [maiden name was Hunter, was the wife of Mansfield B. Lea. Married about
1871, the couple lived in Shaler Twp. and Etna Boro, and had at least 6
children. When her husband died, Mary did not apply for a widow’s pension
until 1916 and at that time, John S. Hunter was given guardianship under the
pension for minor children, even though they were not very young. Mary died in

“injuries”. He was the son of Jennie’s sister Nellie McCullough, who married

C. Lea, [Harry C. Lea was the son of Civil War veteran Mansfield B. Lea and his
wife Mary Emma, and may have been born during the years that the family resided
in Shaler Township. He is seen there as a 3 year old child in the 1880 census.
He married Nellie McCullough about 1897 and the couple had 3 known children,
Winfield, Mansfield and Nancy. By 1910 he was living in Sharpsburg on Middle
Street and working as the superintendent of the borough water and light works.
The 1920 and 1930 census shows that he moved to Aspinwall. He was interred on

Sharpsburg. Two more children followed, Mansfield in 1904 and Nancy in 1910. In
1920 and 1930 she and her husband lived in Aspinwall, first on Western Avenue

the 9th Ward. That son Herbert was working in a rolling mill. In 1920 Herbert
was married to wife Virginia, and in 1930 was living in the 6th ward, a boarder
in the home of Donald and Ruth Thayer. He died at age 52 of chronic nephritis

apparently traveled to Canada, as Roxlanie was born there, and so was their son
Alexander. Leon died in Pittsburgh on April 5, 1931 at age 61 of a carcinoma.

Leight, Mary Anna, Wife of Jacob Leight, 1825 – 1908, Mother, Section 5, Range
9, Lot 9 half lot owned by the heirs of Mrs. Mary Leight, [Mary Anna Leight was
the wife of Jacob Leight of Indiana and O’Hara Townships. We found her in the
1870 Indiana Township census with 7 children listed with the couple. They may
have lived in the area before that, however the spelling of the last name does
cause problems in research. By 1900 she was living in O’Hara with Elmer A.
Leight, age 16 and a grandson, living with her. She died in Shaler Township at
age 82 years, 6 months and 24 days of La Grippe. She was interred on March 19,

Leight, [Anthony Leight was the son of Jacob and Mary Leight of Indiana
Township. He married Sarah Ann Seibert about the year 1882 and had 2 known
children. In 1880 he lived with Mathew Crawford, working on the Crawford family
farm. By 1900 he was living in Shaler Township, married and working as a night
watchman at a brick works. In 1920 he was a laborer in the oil and gas fields,
and he worked for Columbia Gas Company for years. He also served as a school
director for Shaler Township. He died at his home on Glenshaw Avenue on
December 21, 1936 at age 76 of cancer. He was interred on December 24th], ,

Leight, [Sarah A. Seibert was the daughter of John Seibert and Magdalena
Rennick. Married to Anthony Leight about 1882, she had a son William H, born in
November 1883 and a daughter Sarah born in October 1895. There is also a child
named Eva buried in the family plot who died at age 6 in 1903, so this may have
been another child of the couple. She also was responsible for raising Robert
Titzel, the son of her sister Mary who died in or shortly after childbirth in

A. Campbell, [Wilson Lengenfelter was the son of Charles and Margaret
Lengenfelter of Hoboken, now present-day Blawnox. In the 1880 census, he was
the seventh child of the couple, a 2 year old baby. In 1910 he had been married
for 10 years with wife Mary, and had 4 children. His occupation was a moulder
in a machine shop. When the Civil War pension index was checked, his name
appeared along with Mary’s name and the minor Mary J. Weber. His unit was
written as Co G of the 14th PA Infantry, but the dates were too smudged to
read. Greenwood records indicate that he was a Spanish-American War soldier. He
died in February 1912 in Sharpsburg at age 34 of pulmonary tuberculosis. His
daughter Hazel also died of the disease and in the family plot. Wilson’s sister
Margaret and her husband Jehu Campbell are there also. Wilson was interred on

Lewis, John L., Corpl., Co C, 5 PA HA, Section 5, Range 16, Lot 1, owned by
John L. Lewis, [joined the 5th Regiment of the PA Heavy Artillery in June of
1864 at Pittsburgh. They took part in the defense of Washington DC and the
Manassas Gap Railroad, protecting the supply line for General Sheridan and
constantly engaged with Moseby’s Raiders. After several small actions they
guarded DC once again. John was promoted to the rank of corporal, and was
mustered out in July of 1865. He and his wife Margaret lived in Sharpsburg and
he worked in a rolling mill while she raised 6 children. Margaret died in
1891and John lived in Pittsburgh’s Ward 21 with his son Harry and his daughter
Pearl. He died in 1915 at the age of 86 in the city of Philadelphia. Margaret
and two of their children, as well as a still born grandchild, are also buried

John Kammer, [Helen Lewis is probably the daughter of John and Mary Kammer of
Sharpsburg. A daughter named Nellie appears with the family in the 1910, 1920
and 1930 census records. In 1930 while living at #1721 South Canal Street, she
worked as a stenographer. No census record of her marriage has been found, or
the name of her husband. She died in Pittsburgh of March 11, 1931 at age 22.
The cause of death was septicemia, most common during those early years as an
infection caused during childbirth due to unsanitary conditions. She was

he was assigned to Co A of the 14th Supply Train until his discharge. He was
admitted to the US National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers on September
19, 1928 suffering from chronic arthritis of his left knee and discharged on
March 1, 1929. He died in Pittsburgh at age 48 of acute alcoholism and was

children. After the death of her husband, she lived at #7314 Butler Street in
1910 with her daughter Jane and on Greenwood Street in 1930. She was interred

Street with his widowed mother in 1920, where he worked as a theater operator.
In 1930 he was married to wife Laura and had a child Margaret, age 2. He was a
laborer at an electrical works, but that same year he appears on the census at
the Tubercular League Hospital on Bedford Avenue. He died in Pittsburgh at age
32 of pulmonary tuberculosis on August 11, 1935. He was interred August 14], ,

Livingston, [Carrie Livingstone was probably the daughter of Max Livingston who
owned the burial plot she is in. She died on April 11, 1881 at age 1 year, 5
months and 19 days of scarlet fever. She was born in Pittsburgh and died there.
Also in the plot is 16 year old Levi Livingston, who died in Philadelphia in
September of 1885. By searching the Directories of Pittsburgh, Max Livingston
was found to be the Superintendant of the Standard Oil Works in Lawrenceville
between the years 1880 and 1885. He lived on Butler Street near the Sharpsburg

Thomas Street in Pittsburgh, was a widow and lived with her married daughter,
and her niece was still living with the family. She died in Collier Township at

rests. He died in Sharpsburg and was interred in Section 2, Range 12 of

Lollo, Agnes C., 1891 – 1931, [Agnes Lollo was the wife of George Lollo.
George was a ruffler at one of the local mils, and the son of Henry and
Margaret Lollo of O’Hara Township. The couple lived at #1934 Nobel Street. In
1930 as a widow she lived with her brother-in-law Harry on South Canal Street.
She died in Sharpsburg on May 2, 1931 at age 44 of myocardial degeneration and
is buried in the plot owned by Harry Lollo, the brother of George. Her
tombstone is shared by Harry and his wife Loretta], Section 1, Range 6, Lot 8

Lollo, Charlotte Ann, August 1, 1935, August 5, 1935, [Charlotte is probably
the daughter of Homer and Dora Lollo of Sharpsburg. It is his lot that she is
buried in, and that family was still having young children in the 1930 census,
with a 2 year old and a 5 month old child. They lived on Cecil Street and had 5
children, Homer, William, Mary, Mildred and Irene. Charlotte died on August 5,
1935 at age 4 days. It is noted in the interment records that she had a double

lived in O’Hara Township but was indexed in O’Hara during 1900 and 1910. He was
a laborer and worked in one of the local mills. His death was caused by
jaundice at age 71 years, 3 months and 25 days on April 12, 1912. He was

Margaret Lollo, [Margaret Heckel was the second wife of Henry Lollo, married to
him in the First Evangelical German Lutheran Church of Sharpsburg on April 29,
1880, after Catherine Zimmerman Lollo’s death in 1877. In 1880 the family was
shown with children John, Philip and Henrietta, all children born in Catherine.
Family researchers have 8 more children born into this family after the
marriage. On the 1910 census Margaret states that she had 9 children, with 7
living. Margaret died in Sharpsburg on April 30, 1939 at age 84 of chronic

Love, [Joseph Love was born in Pa, the son of Robert and Susanna Love of West
Deer Township. He was also the brother of James Love who can be found on the
1880 Etna census. While Joseph was raising a family at #17 Cherry Street in
Etna and married to wife Frances, James had married twice and suffered a lost
eye in an explosion at Spang’s mill. James died in 1901 and his son Harry St.
Clair attached himself to his uncle Joseph after his Army service. Joseph was
the superintendent of the Etna water works but by 1910 had given up working.
Harry later took over a position of stationary engineer at the same water
works, living with Joseph’s family through the 1930 census. Joseph and his wife
Amanda Frances were married about 1887 and had 9 children, Retta, Harry,
Odessa, Irma, Sylvia, Ruth, William Arthur, Edgar and Claire. He died in Etna
on September 16, 1932 at age 72 of pleurisy and pneumonia. He was interred on

10 month old child, born in July of 1899. Interment records give the interment
date for a Mary Virginia Love as January 3, 1901. Born in Pittsburgh, she died
in Etna at age 1 year, 5 months and 19 days. There was no interment for the
year 1900, so perhaps the tombstone is not accurate, or she was buried more
than 3 days after her death. Either way, the birth date on the stone may not be

any census records, but the couple was having children in that time range,
according to their ages on the 1900 Etna census. He is listed as an unnamed
Love in interment records, interred on January 10, 1890 in Section 3, Range 9.
He was later removed to the current family plot in Range 2. He was 7 months old

two unnamed Love children were interred in the Love family plot. No other
information was given. This tombstone is the only clue as to who they were and
where they may fit in the family. They are the children of William F. and
Elizabeth Love of Etna. Neither of these children appear in any census record.
The dates on the stone are our only other clue. Also interred in the lot is
Elizabeth Love, their mother. She has no tombstone, but was interred on May 3,
1928, 2 days after her death in West Deer Township at age 67. She suffered from

Love, George, Section 3, Range 6, Lot 11 owned by James Jordan, [The plot
containing the soldier George Love had 6 burials that were all removals from
the Sharpsburg Presbyterian Church graveyard. George was 63 years of age when
he died on May 17, 1847 in Sharpsburg. His date of birth would have been around
1784. Born after the Revolutionary War, he could have been in the War of 1812
or anytime after that. But due to the scarcity of 1812 data, no reference has
yet been found on him. Also in the plot are Catherine Love who died in
Sharpsburg at age 59 on April 4, 1847. She may be George’s wife. Christopher
Love, possibly a brother, was 64 when he died in Sharpsburg on May 12, 1846. An
unnamed Love was also moved when the other family members were transferred to
Greenwood on March 22, 1881, as well as members of the Jordan family. The large
monument at the front of the Jordan lot belongs to the Stuckey family], ,

a German immigrant who lived in the Etna/Shaler Township area. We know little
about him because he doesn’t appear in many on-line records. In the 1880
census, he was 32 years old and his wife Wilhelmine was 29. He worked at one of
the local blast furnaces and stated that he was born in Prussia. The year of
his death is not certain, but he was buried in the graveyard of the First
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sharpsburg, located on the Lower Road in back of
the O’Hara Township community of Pleasant Valley. On December 7, 1906, he and 2
children were removed from that cemetery and placed in Greenwood’s Section 6
with other removals from the graveyard. He was moved to the family plot on May

where she stated that she had been born in Prussia. The couple had no children
at that time. It is possible that she only had 1 child before the early death
of her husband. In 1910 she was a widow living with her son William and his
family at #36 Cherry Street in Etna. She died in Etna on March 5, 1919 at age

Lynch, Barres E., (family plot), Section 2, Range 7, Lot 2 owned by John J.
Keil, [Barres E. Lynch was once on the list of Civil War veterans buried at
Greenwood Cemetery, given to the cemetery by Mr. David Orr of the Sons of the
Union Veterans. He served in Company I of the 45th Iowa Infantry for 100 days
in 1864. In 1880 he was living in Buchanan, Iowa with his wife Kate S. Hilbert,
the daughter of John and Rachel Hilbert, who were also living with the couple
at the time. In 1890 he was living in Millvale. He died in the Brushton section
of Pittsburgh, a victim of heart failure. He was interred in the Keil plot on
June 13, 1893. His wife Kate was the sister of John Keil’s wife Ella. At some
point, he was removed from the lot to Homewood Cemetery. His name should appear
on this list because of the family relationships, even though no tombstone

Lynch, Mary K., 1873 - 1940, Section 6, Row 1A, grave #25, [Written in the
internment book as Mary R. Lynch, she was interred on January 5, 1940. She died
in Pittsburgh on January 2 at age 66 of a coronary embolism. Her interment

Lyon, Emma Danver, 1852 – 1902, Section 4, Range 5, Lot 22 owned by H H Lyon,
[Mary Emma Danver may have been the daughter of Richard and Esther Danver of
Allegheny City. Before her marriage to Henry Harris Lyon, she worked as a
school teacher, as did her future father-in-law, Henry Baldwin Lyon. Perhaps
that is how she married his son, Henry Harris Lyon, about the year 1875. The
couple lived in Allegheny City in 1880 with 2 children, Frank, age 4, and
Harry, age 1. In 1886 she also had another son, named Richard Addison Lyon. She
died in Sharpsburg at age 50, with no cause of death listed in Greenwood
records. She was interred on October 12, 1902], , (contributed by Diane Nichols)
Lyon, Henry Harris, 1846 – 1904, Section 4, Range 5, Lot 22 owned by H H Lyon,
[Henry Harris Lyon was the son of Henry Baldwin Lyon and Mary Ann White. He was
born on March 14, 1846 in PA according to those researching the family history,
and in Butler County according to cemetery records. He married Mary Emma Danver
and had 3 known children. He worked as a master mechanic while living in
various communities in the northern side of Pittsburgh, including Sharpsburg.
He died there at age 59. The interment records give his cause of death as
“suddenly”. He was interred on January 2, 1905. Other family members interred
in the plot include Hannah Lyon and Bessie Moore Lyon, who was first interred
in a single interment, then moved to the plot on March 29, 1922], ,
