Paul H. Ludwig, 64, an eight year Vader resident, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 
at his home.    
Ludwig was born Sept. 5, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Otto A. and Gertrude W.
(Schuster) Ludwig. He was reared and attended shcools in the Cleveland area,
graduating from high school in Holland, N.Y.
He then served with the U.S. Army in Alaska. Following his military service,
he moved to Florida, where he worked as a lineman for a few years.
He returned to Alaske, and while oomesteading at Delta Junction, Alaska, he
met Judith Gire. They were married Sept. 5, 1958, at 'Fairbanks, Alaska.
They later moved to Holland, where he worked for the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service. He transferred to Maple Valley (WA) in
1964, and to Olympia in 1966, with the Soil Conservation Service. He also
worked out of the Kelso (WA) office.
Ludwig had done extensiive work in the Mount St. Helens restoration porject.
He also worked for Wahkiakum county and Skamokawa watershed projects. He
retired after working for more than 30 years with the Soil Conservation
Service.
While living in Loympia, he was a very active member of Evergreen Christian
Center. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife at home in Vader, he is survived by three daughters,
Diane Wiest of Yakima, Gail of Guerneville, Calif., and Beth Joseph of
Louisville, KY; a brother, Albert of Chaffee, N.Y.; a sister, Trudy Royce of
Arcade, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
Remembrances may be donations to Child Evangelical Fellowship of Lewis County,
107 N Tower Ave, Centralia, WA 98531, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o
1517 S.W. Mills Ave., Chehalis, WA  98532.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel in
Centralia.
A memorial service for Paul H Ludwig will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the
Church of the Living Water, 1615 Chambers St. S.E., Olympia, with the Rev Ken
Spriggs officiating.
