  "2276 - L [Cleveland Leader] July 24:4/5 - Cleveland gives the utmost
attention to its immigrants and is careful not to let them fall into the
hands of swindlers and other persons who would like to take advantage of
their ignorance and set them off on the wrong foot.
"A new system of caring for them has been installed within the last
year. Now they are received by a special policeman appointed for that
purpose and from here are sent to their destination with the least
possible delay. If they wish to make Cleveland their home, Schroeder,
the immigrant officer, finds positions in families for the girls, and
work of various kinds for the men.
Often the immigrants have affirmed that in no other city which they
pass through do they receive such attention. The whole care of them is
in the hands of the depot master, Meyers, and Officer Schroeder, and to
them is mainly attributed the admirable system now being pursued."
