the other fingers stiff and useless, his infirmity & age prevents him from doing manuel [sp] labor
Dead A. W. Morgan 1900 been in State since 1827. 72 years old.
Served in Co. A. Cobbs Guards consisting of 2 companies
Physical condition am 72 years old . Suffer from weakening of the back caused by gun shot wound
which renders me unable to do manual labor or business of any kind
J. M. Ferguson was wounded with shell on the back part of the head on 4th July 1864 while on
duty at James Island S. C. have known him 40 years
Since the war this wound renders him unable to do any kind of work. He is deaf & nearly blind.
Joseph S. Kindrick
Was wounded in left hip with minnie ball entering in rear of hip joint running forward and
downward and lodging in front of hip joint where the ball remained until April 1879 at which time
the ball caused an abcess and was taken out, the wound caused the hip joint to be stiff, rendering
me unable to do any kind of labor in which there is much walking to be done. I can do but little
work now & as I get older the wound disables me more.

Dead F. M. Ross While marching from Ga to Lake City Fla. in Jany 1865, was injured in his right knee
joint on account of the long & continuous marching & exposure, from which injury he has suffered
continually from the close of the war until now.

killed on the 17th of April 1865, at Danville, Va., while on his way home after the surrender, by
the explosion of a magazine.

taken to Point Lookout Md. in prisoner and died there on 18th of June 1865 after the surrender

Mary E. Dumas, widow of Jeramiah Dumas, who has resided in Ga. since 1832. Was a soldier in
Co.B 4th Bat. (Sharpshooters), Ga. Vol. Enlisted in August 1863, and served in Army up to Apr.
1865. He died at home January 1st 1866 of hemmorage of the lungs caused from exposure on the
battlefield. He was wounded in the battle of Chickamaga and reposed to the night out on the
Ground, took a cough from which he never recovered. Was also wounded in hip and never
recovered from that. Married 1845.
Mary E. Abbott, widow of A. J. Abbott, who has resided in Ga. since 1835. Was a soldier in Co.
D. 3rd Reg. Ga. Vol. Enlisted in May 1861 and served up to Sept. 1863. Killed Sept. 1863 at
Chickamaga, Tenn. while in Battle. Married 1855.
Missouri Cole, widow of John G. Cole, who has resided in Ga. since 1828. Was a soldier in Co.
C. 37th Reg. Ga. Vol. Enlisted in Feb. 1863 and served up to Dec. 1864. Died March 1865 at

1862. He died at Chimboraza [?] Hospital, Richmond Va. from Pneumonia in June 1862. Married
1853.
Mrs. Bethamy Brazier, widow of John C. Brazier, who has resided in Ga. since March 3rd 1818.
He was a Soldier in Co. C 3rd Georgia Battallion [sp]. Enlisted in March 1862 and served up to
about middle of June 1863. He was killed in batle at Hoover's Gap, Tenn. in June 1863. Married
1851.
Mrs. A. L. Barksdale, widow of Nathan Barksdale, who has resided in Ga. since Oct. 15th 1827.
He was a Soldier in Co. D. 45th Reg. Ga. Vol. Enlisted in March 1862 and served up to March
1865. Died 3rd or 5th of October 1870, in Monroe County Ga., of consumption caused from
exposure while in service.

1862. He was captured in fall of 1862 and carried a prisoner to Alton, Ill. & died there in Feb. or

Mrs. S. A. Hilton, widow of L. W. Hilton, who has resided in Ga. since 1834. Was a Soldier in

May 26th 1864, died at Hospital in Macon, Ga. of diarhaea. Was married in 1851.
Mrs. Mary A. Curtis, lived in Ga. since Jan 14 184? Who is the widow of C. H. Curtis served in
Co. A. 13th Ga. Regt. Enlisted June 1862 served up to surrender 1865. Died in Jany 1881 in Pike
County, Ga. of effects of wounds reced. while in the service, wounded through arm & lungs in
State of Va. July first 1862 at Malvern Hill, Va. Became his wife in 1860.

Mrs. M. A. Morris, widow of J. J. Morris soldier in Co. D. 2nd State Troops, enlisted March
1863 in service to April 1865 1864 was taken sick with measles in camp near Atlanta, Ga was sent
to hospital at Jonesborough Ga., after he came back to company took cold from exposure which
resulted in having trouble which turned into consumption and after his return from the war at its
close, he had this disease and was never able to do but little until his death in 1868. April 16th.
Mrs. Francis Connelle [sp], widow of J. A. Connelle a soldier Co. B 2nd Regt. Ga. Vol. enlisted
1861. Was in army up to close war 1865 was wounded in head from which wound he died in
August 15th 1897 at his home in Pike Co., Ga.
Mrs. Addie Shelton Widow of Evans Shelton soldier in Co. K 5th Regt. Ga. Vol.enlisted 30th
March 1863 & was in the [--?--] army to July 1864 and in 1864 while in the Army contracted
Rheumatism and died at his home in Barnsville Ga. on 21st day of March 1897 of chronic
Rheumatism contracted while in the service. Came home with rheumatism out of the army in July
1864 & suffered with it in a chronic form as long as he lived.

Married in 1860. Resided in State since 1845.

right hip ball going through & out. Also through left hand and at some time through right wrist
breaking bone. All these wounds were received at Gain's Mill in Va.
M. K. Jordan:
Resided in the State since 2nd of July 1845. Served as Private in Company A. of 13th Reg. of Ga.
Vol. Gardan's Brig. [?] Wounded in Va. on 27th of June 1862 in the elbow joint of the right arm,
with minnie ball, fracturing the bone , causing loss of bone and stiffnes of elbow joint from which
disability he is permanently disabled.

While drilling in Goldsborough, N. C. in May 1862, I stepped on a hole in the ground while on

split and twisted causing many pieces to come out and was a running sore for seven years &
it is now in such condition as to render me unable to perform any manual labor by which to earn a

Feby. or March 1865 and took small pox while in prison which caused him to loose the sight of his

August 1864, and on the 5th day of May 1863, was wounded in left arm with minnie ball.
Entering above wrist passing diagonally upward going out half way between wrist & elbow, also
at same time was shot trhough the left hand taking off first finger and making stiff the second
finger together practically losing me the use of said hand and arm and as I grow older it becomes
more stiff and less useful, said wounds were received in the Battle of the Wilderness in the
State of Va.
Aaron Stewart:
Born May 22nd 1843 has lived in Ga. all his life. Entered service March 4th 1862. Co. H. 44th
Ga. Regt. Dole's Brigade, was discharged 9th day of April 1865 was wounded in Va 22nd Sept
1864, was shot with minnie ball through right jaw just below the ear fracturing jaw bone causing
stiffness. The ball passed through the mouth, and lodged against the left jaw bone near left corner
of mouth causing a running sore, which when I take cold rises and enlarges all of which has caused
me to become nervous and feeble and rendered me unfit to do manual labor and as I grow older
the worse my health becomes, and this feeble condition of health was all but one [?] me by this
wound received in service.
