Obituary of Rupert Rudolph Shiver Sr. 
as written in "The Albany Herald" dated 10 Aug 1971.  

Albany, Georgia.  
Rudolph Shiver, 58, 1001 Seventh Avenue, died 
unexpectedly Friday night of an apparent heart attack.  Mr. Shiver had been a resident of 
Albany for the last 35 years and was a retired construction worker. He was born Nov. 24, 
1912, in Pelham, and was the son of the late Jerry Shiver and Irene Sims Shiver.  Mr. 
Shiver attended Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors 
include his wife, the former Miss Mildred Justice, Andersonville, now of Albany; two 
daughters, Miss Susan and Miss Joanne Shiver, both of Albany, and three sons, Chris; 
Rudolph, Jr.; and Jerry Shiver, all of Albany.  The funeral service will be conducted 
Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern. The Rev. J. W. Hartley, of Cordele, Georgia and the 
Rev. Judson Luckey, pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, will conduct the services.  
Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery, with full military honors.
