Fleatie A. “FA” Wallace, 88 of Albany died Saturday at the Georgia War Veterans
Home in Milledgeville, GA where he had been at resident for the past 11
months.A life long resident of Albany, Mr. Wallace graduated from Albany High
School in 1934 and was a charter member of Sherwood Baptist Church. He retired
from the US Postal Service in 1975 and served in the Army Air Corp during WW II
where he was in charge of the Post Office at Turner Air Field, and was the
oldest member of the Albany YMCA.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Birdie Bacon Wallace and Mamie Mock
Wallace. Survivors include a daughter; Pamela W. Rehberg of Albany, a grandson;
Jeffrey Rehberg and his wife Melissa of Doraville, GA, a granddaughter;
Jennifer Rehberg of Atlanta, a great-grandson, Jason Williams of Albany and a
nephew; W.L. “Buddy” Tedders of Perry, GA. Those desiring may make memorials to
Future Generations, % Sherwood Baptist Church, 2214 Whispering Pines Road,
Albany, GA 31707.
The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Monday, June 13, 2005 at the
graveside in Oakview Cemetery. Rev. Tony Haefs will officiate.
