Susan B. Farkas

ALBANY — Susan B. Farkas, 60, of Albany, died Saturday evening, January 18, 
2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following an illness.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Porterfield Memorial United 
Methodist Church. The Revs. Nathan Godley and Nancy Scarborough will officiate. 
The remains have been cremated.

A native of Valdosta, GA, Mrs. Farkas had lived in Albany since 1966. A member 
of the teaching profession for over 35 years, Mrs. Farkas was a 1964 graduate 
of Valdosta State College (now Valdosta State University) and was a member of 
the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a former Foreign Language Teacher at 
Riverview Academy and at the time of her death she was head of the Performing 
Arts Department and taught French at Deerfield-Windsor School. She was also a 
former teacher of the year for both Riverview and Deerfield-Windsor Schools. 
Mrs. Farkas was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church and 
the Alpha Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Farkas II of Albany; a son, George 
Farkas of Atlanta; two daughters, Trudy Farkas of Atlanta and Lorraine Farkas 
of Albany; mother, Mary Sue Branch of Atlanta; sister, Sharon Henderson of 
Atlanta; niece, Michele Higgins Wilkinson of Atlanta; nephew, Michael Higgins 
of Atlanta; four great-nieces and nephews, Harrison and Ashley McCray, Margaret 
Wilkinson and Kemper Scott Higgins, all of Atlanta.

Those desiring please make memorials to the Performing Arts Department, c/o 
Deerfield-Windsor School, 2500 Nottingham Way, Albany, GA 31707.

The family will receive friends today (Monday evening) from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. 
in the Parlor at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church.
