Billy Sanders Barnett
Athens
Billy Sanders Barnett, 53, of 328 Knottingham Drive died Friday,
April 9, 1999.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Barnett was a son of Jessie Barnett
and the late John Tyler Barnett.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church
with the Revs. James Barnett and Abraham Mosley officiating. Burial
will be in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include four sisters, Elaine
Barnett, Barbara Barnett, Jennifer Ade, all of Athens, and Ann Ramos,
New York, N.Y.; three brothers, William Barnett and Freddie Barnett,
both of Athens, and the Rev. James Barnett, Charlotte, N.C.

Jack C. Crow
Martin
Jack C. Crow, 84, of 275 Clarks Creek Road died Tuesday, April 13,
1999.
A native of Habersham County, Mr. Crow was a son of the late Robert
Norman and Mary Louise Kimbrell Crow. He was retired from Coats &
Clark and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church where he was a deacon and helped in the Sunday
school department.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev.
Dennis Petty officiating. Burial will be in Roselane Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Janalu Purdy Crow; four sisters, Elese
Bruno, Tampa, Fla., Christine Williams, Roswell, Gertrude Holland,
Toccoa, and Martha Thomly, Mount Airy; and two brothers, Otis Crow,
Grayson, and Harold Crow, Mount Airy.
Pallbearers and honorary escort will be the deacons of Calvary
Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist
Church, 1532 Tugalo Road, Toccoa, GA 30577.

Mary Grace Dunavent
Hull
Mary Grace Dunavent, 55, of 422 Oak Bend Road died Monday, April
12, 1999.
A native of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Dunavent was a daughter of the
late John Roop and Mary LaPorte Devries Woodward. She daughter, Claire
Rohan Tomlinson. She was the author and co-author of numerous research
articles. She earned her B.A. degree in English from St. Mary's
Seminary in Maryland and her B.S. degree, with honors, in biology
management from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va. She was a member
of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Chi Sorority. She taught plant propagation
at UGA from 1991-1994. She was of the Episcopal faith. She was a
research tech for Dr. Frank Porkorny in the UGA Horticulture Dept. and
was co-owner of Oak Bend Nursery with him.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the residence.
Survivors include her husband, Bryce B. Dunavent, Hull; a son,
Craig LaPorte Tomlinson, Hull; three sisters, Jane LaPorte Sutton,
Mardella Springs, Md., Edith Clarke Longley, Reisterstown, Md. and
Phebe Woodward Daughtry, Lilburn; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society, Clarke-Oconee Unit, 545 Research Drive, Suite B, Athens, GA
30605, or to St. Mary's Hospice, 1230 Baxter St., Athens, GA 30606.

Robert "Bobby" Farmer

Robert "Bobby" D. Farmer, 34, of 107 Patton Lane died Tuesday,
April 13, 1999.
A native of Fulton County, Mr. Farmer was a son of Dorothy Daniel
Dyer of Colbert and Robert L. Farmer of Ila. He was a grading
contractor and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church,
Danielsville, with the Revs. Douglas Duncan and Dennis Kesler
officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Farmer; a daughter, Kayla
Farmer, Commerce; two sisters, Robin Coley, Danielsville, and Linda
Wood, Ila; two brothers, Paul Farmer, Ila, and Ralph Farmer,
Danielsville; and a grandmother, Lucille Farmer, Roswell.
The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wood, Georgia
Highway 98, Commerce, and will receive friends at the Wood residence
today.

Elizabeth Sarah Farren of 9697 Wildcat Bridge Road died Tuesday,
April 13, 1999.
A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Mrs. Farren was a daughter of the
late Daniel and Sarah Groves McCaig and was the widow of Edwin F.
Farren. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church with the Rev. Joy Nellisery officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m.
Saturday in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Mosseri, Comer, and Mary
Farren, Groveland, Mass.; two sons, Edwin Farren, Garden City, N.Y.,
and Joseph Molloy, Valley Stream, N.Y.; a sister, Theresa Forrestor,
Irvine, Scotland; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be William Poole, Edwin Farren, Lucian Mosseri and
Edwin F. Farren.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9
p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home.
Mary McDaniel Hayes
Eastanollee
Mary McDaniel Hayes, 86, of Wolf Pit Road died Tuesday, April 13,
1999.
A native of Mitchell County, Mrs. Hayes was a daughter of the late
Dr. John Alison and Maggie Simmons McDaniel and was the widow of Hoke
Hayes. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where she was a
member of Willing Workers Sunday school class and had served as
pianist and Sunday school teacher. She was a retired music teacher and
music supervisor with the Stephens County School System. She was a
member of Toccoa Womans Club, D.A.R., U.D.C. and the Retired Teachers
Association.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Liberty Hill Baptist Church
with the Revs. Jarett Ragan, Herbert Doud and Ron Collins officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Caudell, Eastanollee, and
Laura Lee, Roswell; two sons, Ashley Hayes, Eastanollee, and Alison
Hayes, Winder; and eight grandchildren.
Honorary escort will be members of the Willing Workers Sunday
school class.

Shirley Ann Hill, 53, of Georgia Highway 17 died Tuesday, April 13,
1999.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Hill was a daughter of David
Wilder and the late Elise Wilder. She was a member of Harmony Grove
Baptist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Harmony Grove Baptist Church
with the Revs. J.T. Hughey and Truman Bolden officiating. Burial will
be in Pineview Memorial Garden.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, Freeman
Hill; a daughter, Michelle Hill, Martin; six sons, Freeman Hill Jr.,
Rodney Hill and Randy Hill, all of Canon, Silvester Hill, Commerce,
and Steven Johnson and Gary Johnson; two children raised in the home,
Angie Oglesby and Roderick Oglesby; a sister, Ruth Boggs; 26
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9
p.m. today at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Toccoa.
Wendy McLanahan

Wendy Joyce Porter McLanahan, 37, of 1037 Bakers Ferry Road died
Monday, April 12, 1999.
A native of Fulton County, Mrs. McLanahan was a daughter of Randall
Porter of Woodstock and Joyce Williams Porter of Alpharetta. She was a
housewife.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today the residence. There will be a
private memorial service in Elmhurst Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Rod
"Rodes" McLanahan; two daughters, Jessie McLanahan and Codie
McLanahan, both of Elberton; a son, Zed McLanahan, Elberton; a sister,
Stacey Cravey, Cartersville; and a brother, David Porter, Alpharetta.

J. Robert Martin
HartwellDr. J. Robert Martin, 78, of 2558 Reed Creek Highway died
Tuesday, April 13, 1999.
A native of Habersham County, Mr. Martin was a son of the late
Lester and Alice Dean Martin. He received his Doctorate of Divinity
from Trinity Bible College, his Doctorate of Literature from N.
Tennessee Bible Institute, and his Doctorate of Ministries and
Doctorate of Theology from Brainerd Theological Seminary. He served as
pastor of the following churches: Mount Carmel Baptist Church,
Demorest; Ebenezer Baptist Church, Toccoa; Utica Baptist Church,
Seneca, S.C.; First Baptist Church, Danville, Ky.; Oakwood Baptist
Church, Anderson, S.C.; started Oakwood Christian School, Anderson;
Temple Baptist Church, Anderson; First Missionary Baptist Church, Lake
Wales, Fla.; Spring Street Baptist Church, Smyrna; and West Gate
Baptist Church, Spartanburg, S.C. He served as interim pastor at a
number of Baptist Churches in Northeast Georgia and Upstate South
Carolina.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Reed Creek Baptist Church
with the Revs. Gerald Beardon, Charles Carter and Ted Kelley
officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Demorest City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Allen Martin; two sons, Danny
Martin, Anderson, and Bob Martin, Hartwell; a sister, Evelyn Franklin,
Demorest, and Sue Shope, Smyrna; two brothers, Ken Martin and Jack
Martin, both of Demorest; four grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.

Billy Moon, 64, of 1010 Pine Lane died Tuesday, April 13, 1999.
A native of Union Point, Mr. Moon was a son of the late Lois was a
retired clerk for Farmers Feed and Seed, Greensboro, and was a U.S.
Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Moon Methodist
Church, Veazy community.
Services were Wednesday at Callaway Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon
Gentry officiating. Burial was in Walker United Methodist Church
cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Eldred Powell Moon; a daughter, Judy
Moon Alford, Allentown; a brother, Buddy Davis, Greensboro; and two
grandchildren.
Essie Teasley

Essie Mae Andrews Teasley, 83, of 250 Dougherty St. died Tuesday,
April 13, 1999.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Teasley was a daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Huey Andrews and was the widow of Clyde Teasley. She
was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Evergreen Memorial Park with
the Rev. Luther Fouche officiating.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Teasley, Athens, and Steve
Teasley, Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

Mary McKinley Cobb Trimble, 75, formerly of Athens, died Tuesday,
April 13, 1999.
A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Trimble was a daughter of the late
Judge and Mrs. Carlisle Cobb. She graduated from the University of
Georgia, served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, and was
a volunteer in Dalton. She was a retired teacher from the Dalton
School System. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 12 p.m. Friday in Oconee Hill Cemetery with the
Rev. Glenn Doak officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Shackleford Trimble Jr.; two
daughters, Katharine McKinley Trimble, Raleigh, N.C., and Mary
Hutcheson, Dalton; two sons, Lee Shackleford Trimble III, Columbia,
S.C., and Carlisle Cobb Trimble, Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren.

will receive friends at the Cobb residence after the services.

Alvin Verner, 77, of Albany, died Monday, April 12, 1999.
A native of Westminster, S.C., Mr. Verner was a farmer, a U.S. Navy
veteran of World War II, and was a member of Rafter Rockers Square
Dance. He was the widower of Mary Louise Verner.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home,
Albany, with the Rev. Joe Holden officiating. Burial will be in Crown
Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Verner, Madison; two daughters,
Mary Verner Brisbois and Jannie Verner Tucker, both of Albany; two
sons, David Alvin Verner Jr. and Harris Lee Verner, both of Albany; a
sister, Daisy MacLean, Braselton; a brother, Henry Verner, Rutledge;
seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
