JUDGE PRATT ADAMS DEAD
Sudden Ending of a Short and Brilliant Career.

     Ex- Judge A. Pratt ADAMS died in Savannah Sunday afternoon, after a brief 
illness, attributed to overwork.
     Judge ADAMS was in his fortieth year. He was a native of Savannah and 
graduated from the University of Georgia, being a class mate of Henry GRADY, 
Judge Emory SPEER and other men prominent in Georgia life. He had scarcely 
reached his majority when he was admitted to the bar in Savannah. Half his 
brief life, therefore, was dedicated to the study and practice of 
jurisprudence. Rapid and steady progress marked the passage of each year.
     For seven years he presided over the Eastern judicial circuit, succeeding 
Judge Henry B. TOMPKINS, who retired and removed to Atlanta. Judge ADAMS 
followed his example in 1889 by voluntarily returning to the ranks of his 
profession.
     Although Judge ADAMS ascended the bench at the early age of thirty, he  at 
once gave evidence of his entire fitness for the position. He brought to his 
new station a mind stored with all the judicial learning of the past an 
inflexible courage and a stern impartiality. No murmur of dissatisfaction was 
ever heard by client or advocate in the forum of his court.
