Mrs. Averill Funeral Held
   Word was received of the death on Friday, June 25, of Mrs. Marion Averill
of Walla Walla, a former Ritzville resident. Mrs. Averill suffered an illness
for several months.
   Private funeral services were held in Walla Walla on Monday of this week.
While residing in Ritzville she was a member of the Trinity Methodist
church and of Chapter AR, PEO.
   She is survived by her husband, Frank N. Averill at the home, a daughter,
Mrs. Dennis (Laurel) Hargreaves of Pittsburg, Pa.; two sons, Donald and Richard,
both of Walla Walla; two brothers, Lloyd Berry and Jack Berry; and two
grandchildren, Valerie and Robert Hargreaves of Pittsburg.

Frank Jones Funeral Set For Friday
   Funeral services for Frank F. Jones of Sprague will be held at 2 o'clock Friday
at the Sprague Community church.
   Jones died at the Adams County Memorial hospital Tuesday at the age of 81.
He had been a Sprague resident for 75 years. During many of those years he
was a farmer and grain buyer there.
   Surviving are three daughters and a son. Mrs. Charles Actor of Pasco is one
of the daughters and lived here at Ritzville while her husband was superintendent
of schools here for a number of years. Another daughter is Mrs. Mildred
Merryman of Klamath Falls, Ore.
   Mrs. Harold (Shirley) Smick of Sprague is another daughter. A son, Sherwood
Jones, lives in Spokane. There are nine grandchildren and three great 
grandchildren.
   Jones was a member of FM&AM Masonic lodge No. 40 at Sprague and of
Henrietta chapter of the Eastern Star there.
   The Rev. Francis Klontz will conduct the funeral. Burial will be in McAbee 
cemetery.

Mrs. Geschwind Services Planned at Chapel today
   Augusta Geschwind died Wednesday at Hillcrest manor. She had been a
resident of Ritzville most of her life.
   Funeral services will be held at the Danekas Funeral chapel at 3:30 Thursday
afternoon.
   She was born January 10, 1879. She is survived by a sister, Minnie Willner of
Snohomish, and five nieces and one nephew. The nieces are Evelyn Lyfons
and Helen Gamble of Snohomish, Dorothy Bowman of Darrington, Frances
Vickery of Seattle and Dolores Hanson of Sultan.
   Richard Schulter of Seattle is a nephew.
   Mrs. Geschwind operated a chicken hatchery here for many years. It was
then located near the present golf course. Her husband died here many
years ago.

Earle Copp Funeral Rites to Be Friday
   Funeral services for Earle Timothy Copp will be held at Zion Congregational
church in Lind at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
   He died at his home in Lind July 6 at the age of 83 years.
   He was born September 9, 1881, at Sinclairville, N. Y. He and Mildred Baker
was married September 5, 1923. Mr Copp was a nephew of the late Dr. Frank
R. Burroughs of Ritzville.
   He lived 61 years of his life in this county, engaging for many years in the
insurance business and farm management. During the years of his active
career he served the Town of Lind as its clerk and treasurer. He was at
different times fire chief and the president of the chamber of commerce.
   Earle Copp was a member of F&AM Lodge No. 45 of Lind; of El Katif
Shrine in Spokane and AAONMS, Spokane.
   He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Alice Smith of Manhattan Beach,
Calif., and by three grandchildren. Mrs. Copp died January 1, 1965.
   The Rev. R. Kirschenmann will conduct the funeral service. A quartet
will sing two hymns, "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind" and "Thou
Whose Almighty Word." The quartet members are Mrs. Edwin Jeske,
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Sackmann and Reinhold Sackmann. Mrs. Reinhold 
Sackmann will be their organ accompanist.
   Pallbearers will be Harry Kasper, Emil Fode, Lenard Wahl, Leonard 
Jansen, Walter Heider and Floyd Maier. Burial will be in the Lind
cemetery.

F. Schwisow Funeral Held On Saturday
   Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Emanuel Lutheran
church for Frank Schwisow.
   He died July 1 at the Adams County Memorial hospital following a
six months illness with leukemia. He was 75 years of age.
   Frank Schwisow was born March 8, 1890, at Daykin, Neb. He came
to Ritzville from Nebraska in 1911 and farmed in the Carico hills
section until his retirement in 1945.
   On October 28, 1914, he and Anna Moeller were wed. She survives
her husband, as do five children: Mrs. Richard (Phyllis) Ziemer,
Davenport; Mrs. Alvin (Iris) Heider, Lind; Fred Schwisow and Donald
Schwisow, Ritzville; and Mrs. Gene (Lois) Seaburg, Tacoma.
   Also surviving are two brothers and four sisters. The brothers are
Herman of Ritzville and Louie of Daykin, Neb. The sisters are Anna
Neiderkleine, Freda Neiderkleine and Emma Gutzmer of Daykin, Neb.,
and Meta Merce of Minnesota.

Margaret George Funeral Is Held
   Mrs. Margaret George, mother of Ritzville's Belle George Lupton, died
June 26 at Rigby, Ida.
   Mrs. George marked her 100th birthday anniversary on April 1 of this
year. Mrs. Lupton attended a community-wide celebration of her birthday
at Rigby.
   Funeral services were June 30 at Rexburg, Ida. Burial was at the
Rexburg cemetery.

Paul Wagenaar Funeral Service Will Be Friday
   Funeral service for Paul Edward Wagenaar of Washtucna will be held
Friday at 2 o'clock at Emanuel Lutheran church here.
   Wagenaar died early Tuesday morning at St. Ignatius hospital
following a sudden heart attack. He was 76 years of age.
   He was born just north of Ritzville and had lived his entire life in
this county. He was a wheat farmer.
   A member of Emanuel Lutheran church in Ritzville, Mr. Wagenaar was
also a member of the Washtucna Grange and of the Washington Grain
Growers.
   His wife, Louise, survives him at home. Two sons survive, Dr.
Ralphael Wagenaar of St. Paul, Minn., and Floyd Wagenaar of
Washtucna. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Park and Mrs.
Ann Clodius, both of Portland.
   There are three grandchildren and four step grandchildren 
surviving.
   The Rev. Roger Johnson of the Lind Lutheran church will conduct
the funeral service.

David Camp Rites Held on July 8 at Kellogg, Ida.
   WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for David Camp were held July 8.
   Camp died July 6 at a Wallace, Ida., hospital. He was born June 28,
1870, at New Hartford, Ill. He farmed in the Palouse country from
1899 to 1926 when he moved to Longview. There he was a millworker
until 1948 when he retired. He also lived in Washtucna.
   Camp was a 65-year member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
   Survivors include his wife, Erma, at the home in Kellogg, Ida.; and
two daughers, Mrs. Gladys Laroma, Kingston, Ida., and Mrs. Ireta
Laroma, Coeur d'Alene, Ida. There are also five grandchilden and
one great-grandchild surviving.
   Burial was in the Shoshone Memorial gardens at Kellogg.
   Mr. and Mrs. Camp were married 63 years on their anniversary
September 25, 1964.

Henningsgard Funeral Held
   WASHTUCNA - Mrs. Al Sitko escorted her father's body to Valley
City, N. Dak., for burial on July 1.
   John E. Henningsgard of Spokane, died June 26 of a heart attack
while attending church services at Fruitland. Mrs. Henningsgard
preceded her husband in death 10 years ago in Valley City. 
   The deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Al (Marian)
Stiko, Washtucna; Mrs. Edwin (Lila) Longemer of Fingal, N. Dak.;
and Mrs. Melvin (Vivian) Aus at Valley City. Two sons survive,
Jay Henningsgard in Redwood, Minn., and Russell Henningsgard
in Hopkins, Minn. There are 12 grandchildren and 10 great 
grandchildren surviving.
   Mrs. Sitko arrived home by plane on July 3.

Sniper Bullet Kills Reasoner
   A young Kellogg, Ida., marine officer and former Washtucna
resident, Lt. Frank Reasoner, 28, became a casualty recently
in Viet Nam where he was killed by a sniper's bullet while on
patrol duty, according to official word received by his mother,
Mrs. James C. Curry of Kellogg.
   Lt. Reasoner was a graduate of Kellogg, Ida., high school where
he was active in athletics, particularly boxing.
   He went to the U. S. marine corps going through the ranks and
won an appointment to West Point where he graduated with honors
in 1962. He went back to the marine corps as an officer and went
to Hawaii before Viet Nam.

Mrs. Lloyd Kinzel Funeral Service Being Held Today
   Funeral services for Gertrude Rosetta Kinzel will be held at Zion
Congregational church today at 2 o'clock.
   Mrs. Kinzel died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital
after being confirmed there for two days. She had been in poor
health for several years. She was born June 29, 1915, at Ritzville.
   She attended the Ritzville schools. She was a member of the
Zion Congregational church and of the Grandmothers club.
   Her husband, Lloyd, survives her at home here. Also surviving
are two daughters, Mrs. Terry Reed of Ritzville and Mrs. Gary
Liming of Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Kinzel's father, Joe Bastron of 
Ritzville survives her as does a sister, Mrs. Ed Smith of Peshastin.
    There are two brothers surviving, Virgil Bastron of Spokane and
Marvin Bastron of Ritzville. Four grandchildren survive.
   The Rev. Beryl Melcher will conduct the funeral service. Burial
will be at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery.

Chris Erickson Succumbs
   BENGE - Chris I. Erickson of Kennewick died Wednesday evening,
July 28, at the Veterans hospital after a lingering illness at the age
of 77.
   He farmed what was known as the Bostwick place here for many
years. In the early spring of 1943 he moved to Kennewick where he
made his home near Finley.
   Mr. and Mrs. Erickson were charter members of the Benge Grange.
   He is survived by his wife Louise and two daughters, Sharon at the
home and Mrs. Larry Kimmel of Renton; one son Chris of Snyarep;
six grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence of Kennewick and Tink
of Benge; also several nieces and nephews.

Last Rites Held for Henry Boos Here Wednesday
   Funeral services for Henry Boos were held at the Danekas Funeral
chapel Wednesday afternoon.
   He died Monday at Hillcrest manor at the age of 79 years. He had
not been ill.
   Henry Boos was born January 12, 1886, at Warrenburg, Russia.
He had been a resident of this county the past 51 years. He was a
retired railroad employee. He was a member of the Zion Congregational
church.
   Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martin Elliott of Ritzville, and Mrs.
Charles Piland of Pratt, Kas., and a son, Calvin Boos of Walla Walla.
Also surviving are a step daughter, Mrs. Fred Kechter of Moses Lake,
and four step sons, Ben Werttemberger of Ellensburg, Rudolph Werttemberger
of Pasco, Lawrence Werttemberger of Spokane and Harry Werttemberger
of Ritzville.
   There are 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren surviving.
   The Rev. Ernest Sprenger and the Rev. Alex Rehn conducted the
funeral service. A vocal duet, Mrs. Lillian Miller and Mrs. Pat Schafer,
sang "In The Garden" and "Have Thine Own Way Lord." Their organ
accompanist was Mrs. Henry Danekas.
   Pallbearers were George Wagner, Herman Heimbigner, Frank Miller,
William Werttemberger, Jake Thaut and John Nelson. Honorary
pallbearers were Ted Ott, Rudy Koch, Lawrence Hoffman and George
Oestreich.
   Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery.

H. T. Whitman Funeral Held
   Funeral services were held last week on Wednesday at Hermiston,
Ore., for Hubert T. Whitman, father of Philip Whitman of Ritzville.
   Burial was at the IOOF Evergreen cemetery at Rosalia where he
had spent most of his life. He was engaged in farm work while in
Rosalia. Her moved to Hermiston 16 years ago where he was employed
as a grocer.
   He is survived by his wife Mable at the home; eight sons, Clyde of
Missoula, Mont., Robert, Kenneth, Don, Dale and Harold of Spokane; 
Hugh of Torrance, Calif., and Philip of Ritzville; and two daughters,
Mrs. Kathryn White of Missoula, Mont., and Mrs. Grace Brown of Seeley
Lake, Mont.
   Whitman was a member of the First Christian church where funeral
services were held.

Graveside Service of Conrad Schafer Is Held Saturday
   Conrad Schafer, long-time Ritzville resident, died August 10 at a
Spokane hospital.
   Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Thornhill-
Geraghty Funeral home in Spokane, with commital services later
that afternoon at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery.
   Schafer was 81 years of age. He had farmed here and followed
the carpentry trade. He bought homes, rebuilt them, and re-sold
them. He was born at Walla Walla January 31, 1884. He was a
member of the Assembly of God church.
   Six daughters and six sons survive. The daughters are Mrs. Helen
Brennan, Zenith; Mrs. Ruth Charrier, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Dorothy
Dillman and Mrs. Lucille Werttemberger, both of Spokane; Mrs. Violet
Kembel; and Mrs. June Reems, Mt. Ayer, Ia.
   The sons are Roy, Richard and Virgil, all of Spokane; Arthur of
Medical Lake, Albert of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and Merle of Mountlake
Terrace. Two brothers survive, Joe and Elmer, both of Ritzville. There
are 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren surviving.
   The Rev. R. Russel Eyelander conducted the funeral service.

Mrs. Henry F. Schafer Will Be Buried Here
   Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the
Ritzville Memorial cemetery for Mrs. Henry F. (Alma) Schafer of
Yakima.
   She had lived many years in the Ritzville area.

Strohmaier Rites Friday
   Funeral services for Theodore Strohmaier will be held at the
Methodist church in Lind at 2 o'clock Friday.
   Strohmaier died Tuesday at the Veterans hospital in Spokane
following a 10-day confinement there.
   He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strohmaier of Garfield. He had
made his home at Libby, Mont., the past year.
   Surviving besides his parents are a son Theodore, jr., a daughter
Marilee, both of Spokane; a sister, Mrs. Violet Russell of Seattle;
a step sister, Mrs. Darlene Miller of Garfield; a half brother, Albert
Strohmaier of Lind; and a brother, Gus Strohmaier of Cheney.
   The Rev. Roger Johnson will conduct the funeral. Burial will be
in the Lind cemetery.

Alma Webley Is Buried at Soap Lake Cemetery
   Services for Mrs. Alma N. Webley, 80, will be held Friday at the
Assembly of God church in Coulee City with burial in the Soap Lake
cemetery. She was an aunt of Mrs. Fred Jingling, Mrs. Lawrence
Walenta and Gerald Weise.
   Mrs. Webley died in Spokane on Tuesday. She was born in
Wisconsin and her parents homesteaded in the Lind area. She was
married at Ritzville. She was an older sister of Mrs. Clara Weise, 
former Ritzville resident now of Spokane.

Mrs. Catherine Meyer Is Laid To Rest After Tuesday Rites
   Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Meyer were held Tuesday
afternoon at Trinity Methodist church.
   She died Friday afternoon of last week. She was born December 21,
1885, at Sterling, Ill., to Henry and Carolyn Helms. She was raised and
educated in Sterling. Her husband, Henry Meyer, was also from that
area in Illinois.
   After Henry Meyer had come to Washington and located a ranch near
Cunningham he returned and they wre married on January 16, 1907.
The couple came to Cunningham as newlyweds. Five children were
born to them. Ada, the oldest girl, died in 1921. Henry died in 1961.
   Mrs. Meyer, a life-long Christian, had been a member of Trinity
Methodist church for over 40 years. She was an active worker in
the church's Ladies aid and Women's Society of Christian service
through the years.
   She was also affiliated with the Rebekah lodge and had served as
a past noble grand officer. The Women's Relief corps was another
activity in which she served.
   Surviving her are three sons, Ralph of Pullman; Elmer of Stockton,
Calif.; and Paul of Ritzville; and a daughter, Bertha Rosenoff of Ritzville.
Also surviving is a brother, Paul Helms of Culver City, Calif., eight
grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
   At the funeral service Gordon Swyter sang "In The Garden" and "Abide
With Me." He was accompanied at the organ by Linda Baumann. 
Pallbearers were Max Meyer, John Rowe, Jim Kadlec, Jim Webb, Al
Rummer and Matt Kubik. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery.

Services for J. C. Kittel Are Held Here Tuesday
   Funeral services for John Charles Kittel were held Tuesday morning at
the Danekas Funeral chapel.
   A resident of Ritzville for more than 50 years, Kittel died on his 83rd
birthday Saturday after a short illness. The Rev. James Updike conducted
the service. Milton Sackmann sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "The Lord's
Prayer." His organ accompanist was Mrs. Orville Moeller.
   Pallbearers were W. H. Proctor, W. H. Rosenoff, Robert Newland, John N.
Ott, A. C. Rummer and A. H. Varnes. Cremation followed.
   John Charles Kittel was born September 4, 1882, near Ordway in Brown
county, South Dakota. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Kittel. He
attended rural schools in the area through the eighth grade and later
taught school for a time.
   After attending a business school in Aberdeen, S. Dak., Kittel entered
Brown Bros. Abstract offices and worked at several locations in North and
South Dakota.
   On September 13, 1911, he married Mary Irene Wood of Lake City, Minn., 
in Sioux Falls, S. Dak. He continued in abstract and title work in Hettinger,
N. Dak., and Bison, S. Dak. In the fall of 1913 Mr. and Mrs. Kittel moved to
Ritzville.
   In the spring of 1914 they went to Glasgow, Mont., but returned to Ritzville
in June, 1915 and took up residence at 802 S. Jackson street. They lived
there for more than 50 years.
   Later in 1915 Kittel joined the Adams County Abstract Co., where he 
worked until his retirement on June 30, 1954. He was city clerk of Ritzville
continously from January 1, 1917, to January 1, 1937. He served as president
of the Ritzville Chamber of Commerce in 1938 and as a member of the
school board from 1921 to 1927.
   He also acted as a volunteer weather observer for the United States Weather
bureau from 1916 until his death. He was a member of the Ritzville Lions
club for many years.
   In addition to his widow his survivors include a brother, William, of
Danville, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. James Knutson of Nampa, Ida., and Mrs.
Mary Goodman of Woodworth, N. Dak. There are surviving four sons, Charles
Edward Kittel of Brewster; Rodney Phelps Kittel of Ventura, Calif.; John Howard
Kittel of Naperville, Ill.; and Dale Franklin Kittel of Grants, N. Mex. Surviving
also are 10 grandchldren.

Mrs. Alma Schafer Committal Rite Held At Ritzville
   Graveside services were conducted at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery 
August 27 for Mrs. Alma Schafer who died August 23 at Yakima.
   Mrs. Schafer was a former resident of Ritzville. She and her husband
farmed here and ran a dairy.
   Mrs. Schafer was born October 7, 1899, at Naperville, Ill. She came west
to Washington when she was two years old.
   Surviving are her husband, Henry Schafer of Yakima, and a son, Melvin,
also of Yakima. There are four grandchildren. Sisters-in-law surviving
and living in Adams county include Mrs. Freda Kupers and Mrs. Everett
Streeter of Ritzville; and Mrs. Cecil McCall of McCall.
   Another sister-in-law is Mrs. Clara Knapp of Harrington. Numerous
nieces and nephews survive her.
   Pallbearers were John Weber, Walt Nissen, Ralph Streeter, Loren
Heimbigner, W. A. Arlt and Cecil McCall. The Rev. Ernest Sprenger
conducted the service. Funeral services at Yakima had been held at
the Keith chapel.

Frank Telecky Dies Following Fall on Steps
   Frank Telecky died about midnight Tuesday at the Adams County
Memorial hospital.
   Walking up steps at the front of his home at 608 W. Main Monday
night, the long-time Ritzville resident had lost his balance and fallen
over backward. He struck his head and a swelling as large as a turkey
egg developed.
   Frank lost consciousness about 4 a.m. Tuesday and never recovered
consciousness.
   Funeral arrangements were pending Wednesday afternoon but family
members said the day would be Monday. The service will be conducted 
at St. Mark's Episcopal church, of which the deceased was a long-time
member.
   Frank Telecky was born in Minnesota July 14, 1882. When he was
16 he came to Ritzville and hired out as a farmhand. Four years later
he started farming for himself and continued so until his retirement
in 1940.
   Through many years Telecky enjoyed excellent health. Among
other things he did was to help in the construction program entailed
when St. Mark's church was remodeled. He also treasured his membership
in Marcellus Grange, of which he was one of the early members.
   Telecky was married January 10, 1916, in Portland to Caroline Elizabeth
Olson. Five sons and a daughter were born to the union. 
   Mrs. Telecky and these six children survive the husband and father
as well as a step son, Winston Davis of Spokane.
   The surviving sons and daughter are Howard, Clyde, Russell and
Stanley of Ritzville; Cecil of Edwall; and Mrs. Raymond (Pearl)
Soularie of Seattle. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and one
great grandchild.

Funeral Services of Cecily Pointer To Be Held Friday
   Mrs. Cecily Pointer died in Spokane early Wednesday morning.
Her funeral services will be at 1 o'clock Friday at the Smith Funeral
home in Spokane.
   Mrs. Pointer had been ill since a year ago in March, and during
that time had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Richard Johnston in
Spokane. Prior to her illness her home had been in  Ritzville since
the family had moved here about 12 years ago from the East.
   Her husband preceded her in death a number of years ago.
Surviving besides the daughter in Spokane is a daughter, Mrs. Herb
(Cecily) Wheeler, whose home is in Pennsylvania.

Wm. Ferderer Laid To Rest
   William Ferderer died suddenly on August 23 at Odessa. Funeral
services were conducted August 26 by the Rev. Elmer Wenzel at Zion
Emanuel Lutheran church.
   He was born April 1, 1912, at Zeeland, N. Dak., to Frank and
Marguerite Ferderer. The family moved to Washington in 1920,
living in the Ritzville and Odessa areas. William Ferderer was
formerly shop foreman at the Adams County garage in Ritzville.
   Surviving are his wife Lois at the home; a son, Ronald and three
daughters, Carol, Connie and Susan, also at home. There are four
brothers, Leonard, Henry, Matt and Ted Ferderer, all of Ritzville.
   Seven sisters survive, Mrs. Rosie Scheller and Mrs. Leah Swift
of Ritzville; Mrs. Bertha Rieker, Moses Lake, Mrs. Emma Livingstone,

   Burial was in the Odessa cemetery.

Paul Fickle's Mother Dies
   Paul Fickle phoned the Bob Fickles here Monday morning
to say that his mother, Mrs. Charles Fickle, had died early
that morning.
   Paul phoned from Galveston, Ind., where he has spent the
last several months with his mother. She was 86 years of age,
and had been in poor health the past two years.
   Funeral services were planned at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St.
Patrick's church in Kokomo, Ind. Survivors include the son, Paul
who is one of six children, most of whom live in Indiana; the
grandson Bob at Ritzville; a granddaughter Elma at Billings, Mont.;
and a granddaughter, Mrs. Earl McDonald, Ritzville.
   Charles Fickle preceded his wife in death several years ago.

Graveside Rite for A. E. Hayes is Held Monday
   WASHTUCNA - Alson Eugene Hayes died at Ridgefield, Wash., 
his hometown on September 8.
   Memorial services were held at the Ridgefield Methodist church
of which he was a member, on September 11. Arrangements were
made by the Layne Funeral home of Battleground who in turn
brought the body to the Washtucna cemetery for burial September 13.
The Danekas Funeral home of Ritzville assisted with these final
arrangements.
   Rev. Ralph Smith of Washtucna Community church conducted the
graveside service.
   Hayes followed the shingle industry most of his life. His last ten
years were spent in retirement.
   He was married to Esther Freeman, formerly of Washtucna, who
survives him. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Josie Pope,
Portland, Ore.; Mrs. LaVerne Everett, Burney, Calif.; and Mrs. Ruth
Janething, Ocean Park. Four nephews and two nieces also survive him.
  Relatives from out of town attending the A. E. Hayes burial were Mrs.
Jennie Mortensen, Bothell; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Holmes, Spokane; Mrs.
Donald Pemberton and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thomas, Ridgefield; and
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomas and daughter Sandra of Portland, Ore.
   Friends of the family attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Kelso of Othello. All those present at the burial were later guests
for dinner of Mrs. Sarah burns, assisted by the Rex Dainty family.

William Burkee Dies At Manor
   William Burkee died Tuesday night at Hillcrest manor. He had
been an Adams county resident since before World War I.
   Burkee, well up in his 80s at the time of his death, had come
here from Brandon, Minn., where he had been engaged in farming
with his father. He held jobs as a mechanic here for many years,
working for a long period for the Harder ranches, and for other area
ranches. Burkee had never married.
   Arriving in Ritzville about 1910, he helped lay the bricks in the
platform of the present Northern Pacific depot.
   Two brothers and two sisters survive. One sister is Mrs. Martha
Jopson who lives in Hawaii. The other sister is Clara Burkee of
Madison, Wisc.
  Funeral arrangements were pending Wednesday afternoon.
  Burkee had been a resident of Hillcrest manor since April of
1961.

Funeral Services Held Monday for Zella Snyder
   Funeral services for Mrs. Zella Snyder were held Monday afternoon
at the Danekas Funeral chapel here.
   The Rev. W. B. MacHenry conducted the service. Milton Sackmann
sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "My God and I." Mrs. Orville Moeller
was his accompanist.
   Mrs. Snyder was born May 23, 1892, in Michigan. In 1919 she moved
to Ritzville. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Ritzville Trading company
for a period of many years. She moved to Spokane and held a position
as a bookkeeper with The Crescent for many years until her
retirement.
   She had been in a hospital for 53 days when she died last week of
cancer.
   Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Order of Eastern Star while in
Ritzville. She also was a member of the American Legion and the
Spokane 40et8. She had served her country during the first world war.
   Pallbearers were W. Walters Miller, Victor Rogel, Emil Wellsandt,
Nance Bauer, Victor Wellsandt and Ted Manke. Burial was in the
Ritzville Memorial cemetery.
