WILLIE U. GARDNER 

  FRANKLIN - Willie Uriah Gardner, 80, a lifelong resident of Nansemond 
County, died early Tuesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital. 

  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Elenor [sic; Elnora] Vaughan Gardner 
and a son of Franklin F. and Mrs. Ida Darden Gardner. 

  He was a member of South Quay Baptist Church. 

  Surviving are three sons, Willie B. Gardner, J.F. Gardner and Robert L. 
Gardner of Franklin; a daughter, Miss Carrie Lee Gardner of Richmond; two 
brothers, George E. Gardner of Hampton and Luke Gardner of Holland; and a 
sister, Mrs. Martha Darden of Franklin. 

  A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in W.J.M. Holland & 
Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. L.F. Smith.  Burial will be in the family 
cemetery near Elwood.

D.Cert. 65-033319 gives his wife as Eleanor. 

The family appears in the 1950 Census in Windsor Dist., Isle of Wight Co., 
   1½ miles from Lee's Millpond. 

His name appears in many records as Billie.
