Mrs. Farnell's Funeral Today 

  Mrs. Alice William Russell Farnell died at her home, 117 Franklin St., 
Friday at 10:55 p.m. after a long illness. 

  A native of Jacksonville, N.C., she was the widow of David Newton Farnell 
and daughter of the late Major and Mrs. Mary Amelia Barnum Russell. 

  She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, the congregation's Women's 
Fellowship Society, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. 

  She is survived by one daughter, Miss Vallie Farnell, of Suffolk; two sons, 
William Edward Farnell of New York, N.Y., and D. Newton Farnell of Greensboro, 
N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Lina Smith of Swansboro, N.C.; one brother, Daniel H. 
Russell, of Little Rock, Ark; three grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren. 

  Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at I.O. Hill Funeral Home 
by Rev. R.E. Brittle.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
