Ernest M. Boyce Succumbs at 67 

  Ernest Milton Boyce, 67, a retired City employee, died today at 6 a.m. at 
his home 145 Johnson Ave., after a long illness. 

  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hill Funeral 
Home.  Burial will be in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. 

  A native of Chowan County, North Carolina, he was employed by the city for 
28 years. 

  A member of Rockey Hocky Baptist Church in Chowan County, he was the son of 
the late John Boyce and Mary Jones Boyce of Chowan County. 

  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Ashley Boyce of the home; three 
daughters, Mrs. J.H. Pierce, Mrs. Alice B. Turner and Mrs. T.E. Kilkins of 
Suffolk; a son, Otis C. Boyce of Baltimore; four step sons, Oscar Ashley of 
Edenton, N.C.; Cecil Ashley of Bennett's Creek; Jack Ashley of Suffolk and 
Avion Ward of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. Annie Byrum of Nansemond County; a 
brother, Lafayette Boyce of Nansemond County; eight grandchildren and three 
great-grandchildren.
