                  MARION, Va. -- Funeral services for Pauline Sheffey Anderson will
                  be held Thursday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. in the Barnett's Marion
                  Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neville Mozingo, Rev. Mike Sage
                  and Rev. Mark Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill
                  Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from
                  6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
                  Mrs. Anderson, 76, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3,
                  2000, in the Smyth County Community Hospital.
                  She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Anderson and
                  her brother, William Sheffey.
                  Survivors include: one son: Keith Todd Anderson of Marion; seven
                  daughters: Mary P. Anderson of Bristol Virginia, Evangeline A. Cox
                  of Troutdale, Va., Donna M. Anderson of Marion, Roslyn A. Stovall
                  of Marion, Deborah A. Calloway of Moneta, Va., H. Regina Roberts

                  of Newark, Del.; 30 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren;

                  He was the beloved husband of Margaret C. (Chadwick); devoted
                  father of James M. and his wife, Jennifer, of Abingdon, Va.,
                  Denise E. of Brookline, Mass., and the late Thomas F. III,; loving
                  grandfather of Michael Sergei, Thomas Dimitri and the late
                  Genevieve Ferreira; brother of Louise Enos of Hyannis, Catherine
                  Brooks of New Hampshire, Eleanor Happenny of Falmouth, Mass.,
                  Patricia Howland of Sandwich, Mass., William of Florida, Richard of
                  Boston, Mass., and Robert of Falmouth. He is also survived by his
                  aunt, Babe Krzewick, of Newton, Mass.; and several nieces and
                  nephews.

                  Ave., Brighton, Mass., on Thursday at 9 a.m. A funeral Mass will
                  be held in St. Gabriel Church, Brighton, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours

                  He was a Marine veteran of World War II and a member Boston

                  NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Evelyn Lucille Hamm, 72, died Saturday,
                  Dec. 2, 2000 at The Beckett House, New Concord.
                  She was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Bristol Tennessee, a daughter of
                  the late James E. and Nettie Sproles Cross. She was a former
                  dental office receptionist and had formerly resided in Upland,
                  Calif.
                  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Bennett.
                  Survivors include three sons, Cary Bennett of New Concord,
                  Lance Bennett of Upland and Miles Bennett of Livermore, Calif.; a
                  sister, Betty Kolonis of Victorville, Calif., a brother, Jack Cross of
                  Bristol Tennessee; three grandchildren; and several nieces and
                  nephews.
                  Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Oak Park Cemetery,
                  Claremont, Calif.

                  Eulis Clell Johnson

                  Eulis Clell Johnson, 55, of State Line Ridge No. 1, Paynesville,
                  W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at his residence.
                  Born in Jolo, W.Va., May 20, 1945, he was the son of Garland
                  Johnson of Whitewood, Va., and the late Lou Eva Blankenship. He
                  was a retired mechanic, attended Cross View Church of Christ,
                  bred and showed pacing horses and had won several blue ribbons.
                  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
                  He was preceded in death by two brothers: Garland Ray Johnson
                  and Terry Johnson; three sisters: Francis Blankenship, Penny
                  Akers and Robin Riley.
                  In addition to his father, he is survived by his stepfather: Ersel
                  Blankenship; his wife of 33 years: Dolly Stacy Johnson of
                  Paynesville; two daughters: Mrs. Roger (Jeanette) Matney of
                  Paynesville and Cheri Johnson of Charleston, W.Va.; nine sisters:
                  Betty Lou Blankenship of Galax, Va., Florine Stacy of Kentucky,
                  Judy Carol Blankenship and Rose Mary Lester, both of Paynesville,
                  W.Va., Elsie Marie Matney of Panther, W.Va., Helen Matney and
                  Dorothy Wolford of Bristol Tennessee, Pat Stiltner of Grundy, Va.,
                  and Brenda Johnson of Ohio; six brothers: Ercel Edward
                  Blankenship of Paynesville, James Johnson of Galax and Jessie
                  Clark Mitchell, Charles Mitchell, Everett Ellis Blankenship and John
                  Richard Blankenship, all of Paynesville. He is also survived by one
                  grandson: Kevin Clell Matney of Paynesville.
                  Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at 1
                  p.m. at Cross View Church of Christ with Evangelist Hobert
                  Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family
                  Cemetery on State Line Ridge No. 1, Paynesville.

                  CLINTWOOD, Va. -- Wilma Lee Jones, 49, died at Dickenson
                  County Medical Center, Clintwood, on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000.
                  A lifelong resident of Dickenson County, she was the daughter of
                  the late Chester Ratliff and Faye Smith Ratliff. She was a member
                  of Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church where she taught youth
                  league.
                  Surviving are her husband, Clarence H. Jones, Clintwood; mother,
                  Faye Ratliff, Clintwood; son, Artie Mullins, Manassas, Va.;
                  daughter, Cindi Farmer, Sterling, Va.; two brothers, Lee Don
                  Ratliff, Dixon, Calif., and Joe Ratliff, Clintwood; sister, Teresa
                  Newberry, Clintwood; and five grandchildren.
                  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7,

                  Mary McClellan

                  Mary McClellan passed away Dec. 4, 2000, in her home.
                  Mrs. McClellan was born and raised in Dundee Scotland and
                  served the British Royal Air Force as a plane spotter during World
                  War II. She married her husband and moved to the United States
                  at the close of the war. She was preceded in death by her loving
                  husband, Octor.
                  She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Linda
                  McClellan and Steve and Lola McClellan; four grandchildren,
                  Jimmy, Alan, Maggie and Kaine; and two great-grandchildren,
                  Braxton and Megan.

                  Alfred S. Nickels

                  Mr. Alfred S. Nickels, 65, of Hilton Head, S.C., died in Vanderbilt
                  Hospital, Nashville, Tenn., on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000.
                  Mr. Nickels was born and raised in Bristol Tennessee. He
                  graduated from both the McCallie School and Georgia Institute of
                  Technology. He formed the Nickels-Saacke Corporation in Bristol
                  Tennessee, specializing in real estate, building and development.
                  This corporation developed Forest Hills III and Middlebrook
                  subdivisions. Mr. Nickels was a former member of First
                  Presbyterian Church, Bristol County Club, the Bristol Board of
                  Realtors and the Lions Club. He moved to Hilton Head in 1978,
                  where he continued a career building home and condominiums. He
                  as the president of Nickels and Associates of Hilton Head and was
                  associated with Spinnaker Development Company. He was also a
                  member of the South Carolina Board of Realtors.
                  He is survived by his mother, Martha Nickels Preston, Grand
                  Court, Bristol Virginia; four children, Dr. Michael Nickels and his
                  wife, Kelly Kim, Hershey, Pa., Dr. Scott Nickels and his wife, Kelly,
                  Nashville; Britt Nickels, Townsend, Ga., and Lauren Nickels, Hilton
                  Head. Mr. Nickels is also survived by two grandchildren. He was
                  preceded in death by his father, J. Wood Nickels and his brother,
                  Jack Nickels.
                  After a private internment, a memorial service will be held at 3
                  p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Central Presbyterian Church. Dr.
                  Robert Lowry will officiate. The family will greet friends in the
                  church immediately after the service. A memorial service will also
                  be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Lowcountry

                  Lokiel M. Arden, 70, of 408 Newland Ave., Kingsport, went to be with
                  the Lord Tuesday evening Dec. 5, 2000, at Wellmont Holston Valley
                  Medical Center, Kingsport, following a short illness.
                  Lokiel was preceded in death by her parents, James O. and Eva Reece
                  Miller; two brothers; and one grandson, James Travis Grace. She was a
                  member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church and a member of the church

                  Lokiel is survived by her husband of 45 years, Glenn Arden of the home;

                  Mr. Harvey was a retired coal miner and a former employee of

                  He was preceded in death by his parents, Randall and Julie Kern
                  Harvey.

                  Mrs. Geneva Hodges Miller, 82, of Doran, Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 5,
                  2000, in a Raleigh, N.C., hospital following a brief illness.
                  She was born in Swords Creek, Va., and was a daughter of the late John
                  and Lillie Mae Dye Justice, both Russell County natives.
                  She was a lifelong resident of the Doran area and was a retired nurses
                  aide at the Mattie Williams Hospital.
                  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first
                  husband, Mr. Clarence Hodges, second husband, Mr. Teddy Miller and
                  several sisters and brothers.
                  Survivors are: one daughter: Mrs. Robert (Linda) Harris of Raleigh; three
                  sons: Jimmy and wife, Judy, Hodges of Newport News, Va., John and
                  wife, Juanita, Hodges of Newport News and Bobby Hodges of North
                  Wilkesboro, N.C.; one sister: Mrs. Dorothy Perkins of Swords Creek;
                  and one brother: Mr. Ernest Justice of Tazewell, Va. Eight grandchildren
                  and two great-grandchildren also survive.

                  KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Amy Lorae Mutter Moore, 32, died Monday,
                  Dec. 4, 2000, in Knoxville as the result of an automobile accident.
                  She resided in the Knox County area. She was a graduate of
                  Chuckey-Doak High School in Greenville, Tenn., attended Walters State
                  College in Morristown, Tenn., and continued her education in the legal
                  profession. She became a paralegal and assisted several prominent
                  attorneys in Knoxville. She attended and was a member of Trinity United
                  Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap, Va. She was a wonderful daughter,
                  loving mother and caring sister. "Aim," we will miss you terribly.
                  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Frank and
                  Mattie Mutter and by her maternal grandfather, Worley Hopson.

                  David Lewis Williams, 55, of 7683 Reedy Creek Road, Bristol, Va.,

                  Shorty Denton

                  Willie Clyde (Shorty) Denton, 86, of Blountville, Tenn., went peacefully
                  to be with his Lord on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Holston Valley
                  Medical Center after a period of declining health.
                  Shorty was born in Scott County, Va., on Feb. 2, 1914, the son of
                  William Benjamin and Virgie Booher Denton. Shorty moved to Sullivan
                  County at the age of 16. Shorty retired from Tennessee Eastman
                  Company where he was foreman in building No. 120 of the CE Division
                  after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Whiteside
                  Lodge of Blountville. He was a member of Miller's Chapel Baptist
                  Church. Other than his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by a
                  grandson: Benjamin Berry Helvey; two brothers: John Hugh Denton Sr.
                  and Herbert Denton Sr.; and a brother-in-law: Carmel Stevens. Shorty
                  was a kind, sincere and devoted man whose laugh brought joy to others.
                  He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Georgia Berry Denton of
                  the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Helvey and her
                  husband, Thomas, and Linda Ramsey and her husband, Vance, all of
                  Blountville; a son, James W. (Jim) Denton of Blountville; eight
                  grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Stevens of

                  Clella Rogers Minor, 76, of Norton passed away on Thursday, Dec 7,

                  Mrs. Minor had worked as a bookkeeper, had been the owner of Minor
                  Funeral Home for many years. She had also been involved in the
                  ceramics business. She was a charter member of Lonesome Pine
                  Chapter No. 134, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was treasurer
                  for many years and was treasurer at the time of her death. She was a
                  member of Hurricane Rebekah Lodge No. 7, Wise, and was a member
                  of Xi Upsilon, where she also served as treasurer. Mrs. Minor was also a
                  Kentucky Colonel.
                  She was a daughter of the late Horace Creed Rogers and Pearl
                  Blankenbecler Rogers, and was also preceded in death by her husband,
                  Kenneth Minor.
                  Survivors include her son, Jeffery Minor of Norton; one aunt; several
                  nieces and nephews; and many friends.

                  DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- Brady Owens, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 7,

                  A native of Dickenson County, he had lived in Douglasville for the past
                  16 years. He was a retired coal miner and veteran of World War II. He
                  was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Caroline Deel Owens;
                  three brothers, Ed, Ted and Taw Owens; and two sisters, Lona Owens
                  Childress and Florence Owens.

                  Mrs. Mary M. Richardson, 79, of 1134 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel
                  Bloomery, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in the Watauga
                  Medical Center, Boone, N.C.
                  She was a native of Washington County, Va., but had made her home in
                  Johnson County for the past 26 years. She was a daughter of the late
                  Clint and Matilda Pennington Daye and was preceded in death by one
                  son, Richard Michael Richardson; and two daughters, Phyllis Jean
                  Richardson and Mary Alice Richardson.
                  Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker and a member of the Liberty
                  Christian Church.
                  Survivors: husband, James D. Richardson Sr. of Laurel Bloomery; three
                  daughters: Bettie Bellamy of Bristol Tennessee, Carol McClure of
                  Madison, Ala., and Linda DeWald of Elizabeth City, N.C.; son: James
                  Richardson Jr. of Butler, Tenn.; brother: Otis Daye of Port Deposit,
                  Md.;. three sisters: Carrie Lewis of Green Cove, Va., Irene Lambert of
                  Mountain City, Tenn., and Kathleen Richardson of Taylor's Valley, Va.;
                  10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and
                  nephews also survive.

                  Syrilda Horn Rife. He was a member of Hale Creek Old Regular Baptist
                  Church for 14 years, a member of the U.M.W.A. and the Independent
                  Order of Odd Fellows. He was a retired coal miner, having worked 36
                  years with the Jewell Ridge Coal Co.
                  In addition to his parents, Mr. Rife was preceded in death by his wife,
                  Ida Mae Rife; a daughter, Irene Rife Lester; ten brothers, George, John,
                  Millard, Ervin, Gordon, Alda, Earl, Burl, Authur and Nelson Rife; and
                  one sister, Watie Deel.
                  Mr. Rife is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Cole and husband,
                  Jack, of Pilgrim Knob; two sons, Kermit Rife and wife, Lee, of

                  employed at Dave's in Appalachia until 1975 and at Dave's in Norton

                  Garden Club, the Wise County Rose Society and a charter member of
                  the Texas Club.

                  business of Information Counts Research Services. Carolyn could
                  best be described as a person who gave unconditionally to others
                  and who was deeply loved by all who truly knew her. Her love for
                  and dedication to her family and friends will live on in them for all
                  the years to come.

                  She is survived by her husband, David L. Lane; her daughter,

                  of the late Fred and Beulah Phillippi. She was retired from the

                  William Carr, 76, of 24445 Briscoe Drive, Bristol, Va., died

                  Joan B. Hensley, 69, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away Dec. 6, 2000.

                  N.Y.,; and brother Edgar Foedish Jr. of Surprise, Ariz.

                  A long time resident of Kingsport, Joan spent most of her life in
                  radio and theater. She was managing director of the Olde West
                  Dinner Theater, cultural arts director for the City of Kingsport
                  responsible for starting programs such as Allandale Christmas
                  Village, cultural programs for the deaf and Christmas Connection,
                  an annual arts and crafts show and sale. She was well known as
                  the owner/director of the successful Showboat Dinner Theater.
                  She also established the Rollabout Theater, a senior citizen
                  theater, several children's theater groups and wrote children's
                  books. Joan was a member of Kiwanis and Altrusa. She received
                  numerous awards for outstanding service from various community
                  and professional organizations and served on the Grovernor's
                  Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities. In lieu of

                  employee of Smyth County Sheriffs Department, Saltville Police
                  Department, Virginia State Police and retired from Brunswick Corp.

                  Leadership Kingsport, Kingsport schools, AAUW, and she served
                  as president of the League of Women Voters. She received her
                  master's and doctoral degrees from Virginia Tech and ran her own
                  business of Information Counts Research Services. Carolyn could
                  best be described as a person who gave unconditionally to others
                  and who was deeply loved by all who truly knew her. Her love for
                  and dedication to her family and friends will live on in them for all
                  the years to come.

                  She is survived by her husband, David L. Lane; her daughter,
                  Jessica E. Lane; her mother, Betty M. Jones; her mother-in-law

                  MEADOWVIEW, Virginia -- Hazel M. Parson, 77, of Meadowview,
                  Virginia, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Johnston Memorial
                  Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia.

                  She was a native of Johnson County, Tennessee, and a daughter
                  of the late Fred and Beulah Phillippi. She was retired from the
                  Washington County School System as a cafeteria cook.

                  She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Parson; three
                  daughters, Martha Lee Jones of Knoxville, Tennessee, Beulah Jean
                  Moore of Damascus, Virginia, and Barbara Ann Whisnat of Hudson,
                  North Carolina; two sons, Daniel Wayne Parson of Damascus,
                  Virginia, and Samuel Dean Parson of Meadowview, Virginia; two
                  sisters, Deedie Widener of Mountian City, Tennessee, and Janice
                  Goodson of High Point, North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren;
                  fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

                  The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9,
                  2000, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mahlon H.
                  Wyatt officiating. The committal service and interment will be 10
                  a.m. Sunday in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia. In lieu
                  of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be
                  made to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 458,
                  Damascus, VA 24236. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45
                  p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral service at Johnson Funeral

                  Daniel Junior Price

                  MARION, Va. -- Daniel Junior Price, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 7,
                  2000, in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.

                  Mr. Price was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in
                  the U.S. Army.

                  He is survived by his wife, Elma Lee Price of Marion, Va.; one
                  daughter and special son-in-law, Sharon and Jim Schweiger of
                  Lynchburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Mindy Schweiger and
                  Shawnya Walker, both of Lynchburg, Va.; two
                  great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edith Haga of Atkins, Va.,
                  Amelia Cornett of Independence, Va., Jewell Robertson of Marion,
                  Va., and Carol Irvin of Cedar Springs, Va.; and several nieces and
                  nephews.

                  Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at 2 p.m. at
                  Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Joe Wilkins, Rev. Charlie Harbin
                  and Rev. Todd Rigney officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose
                  Lawn Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Francis
                  Marion VFW Post 4667. The family will receive friends Sunday
                  evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.

                  John Pruett

                  Mr. John (Kelly) Pruett, 82, of Raven, Va., passed away
                  Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in an Abingdon, Va., hospital following a
                  long illness.

                  Born in Tazewell County, he was the son of the late Andy and
                  Harriett Huffman Pruett. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in
                  WWII and a POW, a retired coal miner and attended the Raven
                  Assembly of God Church. In addition to his parents, he was
                  preceded in death by one son, Donald Pruett; one daughter,
                  Judith Atkins; seven brothers, Arthur, Coy, Clyde, Dewey, Doc,
                  Hurley and Cecil Pruett; and one sister, Hazel Asbury.

                  Mr. Pruett is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Julia Simmons
                  Pruett; two daughters, Mrs. John (Annette) Rickman of Swords
                  Creek, Va., and Mrs. Buster (Shirley) Newberry of Cedar Bluff,
                  Va.; one son, John Pruett, Jr. of the home; two sisters, Mrs.
                  Janice Earls of King, N.C., and Mrs. Thelma Barrett of War, W.Va.;
                  six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

                  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11,
                  2000, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev.
                  Joe Copolo and Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in
                  Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Va.
                  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

                  Robert Edward Riffe

                  Robert "Bob" Edward Riffe, 80, of Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Dec.
                  7, 2000, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.

                  He was born in Garland, W.Va., a son of Hanabel and Viola
                  Kennedy Riffe. He lived in Welch, W.Va., until moving to Bristol 27
                  years ago. He was an Army Infantry veteran having served in
                  World War II. He owned his own business for many years as well
                  as working in the retail grocery business. After retirement, he
                  worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart for 10 years. He was a member
                  of the Baptist faith and was also a member of the Masons.

                  Survivors include his wife, Olga Smith Riffe; two daughters, Myra
                  Robertson Ward of Kingsport, Tenn., and Linda Branham of
                  Tavares, Fla.; two sisters, Mabel McClure of Helen, W.Va., and
                  Maxie Morgan of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Elmer Riffe of
                  Princeton, W.Va.; two sons-in-law, Mike Ward and Rick Branham;
                  three grandchildren, Kim Padgett and Marlo Lawson, both of
                  Tavares, Fla., and Steven Ward of Kingsport, Tenn.; two
                  great-grandchildren; and eleven nieces and nephews.

                  The funeral service will be conducted at 8 o'clock Monday
                  evening in Oakley-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W.C.
                  Amos officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the
                  service from 6 until 7:45 p.m. Monday. The committal service and
                  burial will be conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday in Elm Springs
                  United Methodist Church Cemetery in Church Hill, Tenn.
                  Pallbearers will be Rick Branham, Mike Ward, Ron Tolbert, Jessie
                  Tolbert and Kyle Ward.

                  Joe Smith

                  Joe Smith, of Bristol Tenn., died at his home.

                  He was born in Abingdon, Va., and was a lifelong resident of the
                  Bristol area. He was a son of the late John Albert and Sarah
                  Arnold Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the
                  Korean War and a member of Hackler-Wood American Legion Post
                  No. 145. He was retired from Food City.

                  Mr. Smith is survived by two brothers: William C. Smith and Gilmer
                  Smith, both of Bristol Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

                  Bertha Mae Stevens

                  Mrs. Bertha Mae Stevens, 85, of the Combs Ridge section of
                  Council, Va., passed away Saturday morning (Dec. 9, 2000) in a
                  Lebanon, Va., hospital.

                  Born Dec. 23, 1914, in Drill, Va., she was a daughter of the late
                  Oliver and Nora Lowe Stevens. She had spent most of her life in
                  the Buchanan County area and was a member of the House of
                  Prayer in the Name of the Lord Jesus at Council, Va.

                  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one
                  son, Luther Robert Stevens; one daughter, Letha Marie Stevens;
                  and two grandsons, Bennie Andrew Barton and Raymond Eugene
                  Barton. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of
                  her immediate family.

                  Survivors include her husband, Rev. Isaac Stevens of the home;
                  five daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Dotson, Betty and Ronnie
                  Ball and Edith and James Johnson, all of Council, Va., Shirley and
                  Alfred Moore of Lebanon, Va., and Ann Johnson of North Carolina;
                  six sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Ruby Stevens, E.C. and
                  Anna Stevens, Garnett and Dorothy Stevens, and Darrell and Kay
                  Stevens, all of Council, Va., and Axley "Pete" and Janice Stevens
                  and Estil and Barbara Stevens, all of Honaker, Va.; 32
                  grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren;
                  two step-great-grandchildren; and one
                  great-great-granddaughter.

                  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Honaker
                  Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Va., with Rev. Homer Wilson,
                  Sister Donna Johnson and Sister Fay Foster officiating. Interment
                  will follow in Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain, Va.

                  Pallbearers will be Junior Stevens, Randall Stevens, Roger
                  Stevens, Nolan Stevens, Tony Barton, Conley Dotson, Keith

                  Mollie Kathleen Stidham

                  NORTON, Va. -- Mollie Kathleen Stidham, 57, passed away Friday,
                  Dec. 8, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Norton, Va.

                  She was employed with Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital, Wise,
                  Va., for 24 years as a registered nurse. She graduated from J.J.
                  Kelly High School and received her RN degree from Mountain
                  Empire Community College, Big Stone Gap, Va.

                  Surviving are her husband, James Ray Stidham, Norton, Va.; two
                  daughters, Kelly Kiser, Norton, Va., and Penni Stidham Kyte,
                  Elizabethton, Tenn.; two sons, Christopher Ray Stidham, Norton,
                  Va., and Andy Stidham, Blountville, Tenn.; her mother and
                  stepfather, Nellie Grace and Beecher Miller, Pulaski, Va.;
                  stepmother, Ramona Dye, Norton, Va.; three brothers, Tony Dye
                  and Terry Dye, both of Norton, Va., and Tim Dye, Pulaski, Va.;
                  eight grandchildren, Matthew Kiser, Christopher Kiser, Ryan
                  Hodnett, Brittini Thacker, Haley Thacker, Nicole Stidham, Jessica
                  Stidham and Abigail Kyte.
