Subject: Hutchinson Co., TX - Marshall Law abt. 1928

Hello. I have submitted pictures to this site in the past (Detective Cal Baird
& the new jail.)

I have a question... My grandfather was telling me some "old Borger stories"
today. He is in his 80's and so sometimes I only receive bits and pieces at a
time. I would like to put together a bio. page, but was wondering if you could
provide me with a few more details to one of the stories. I live in DeSoto
Co., MS, so I do not have access to Hutchinson Co. history, except for what is
on the internet.

Topics of interest: DA killed and Marshall Law took over approx. 1928 all
police officers where jailed in Stinnet.

Ed Thompson-Rancher ended up moving ranch to NM after the above mentioned
event.

Individuals of interest (fit in some of the stories)
-Detective "Cal" Carroll Sumner Baird (step-great grandfather)
-Ethel (Benson) Buckley-Baird-Tweedy
-Jerome Tweedy
-Marl & Lilly Whitecotton
-Abb Valentine
-Ed Thompson Horse ranch, moved it from the other side of Stinnet (around
where the last battle was fought) to Tucumcari, Quay Co., NM.
-"Chinaman John" - my family has a ?cigarette table? he built. He is also the
one posing in the new jail pictures I submitted previously.
-Joe Ownsby
-Jim Crain
-Sheriff Dale Lane
-George Perdue
-Alford White
-Bob Airs
-Marion (policeman or constable in Divine TX area later) & wife Louise Rogers
?? made bed mattresses"

I also have lots of newspaper articles & sports team pics from Phillips
Blackhawks & Borger High School.

My main interest at this point is anything you can find out about the DA being
killed and Marshall Law taking over.

Thanks for any assistance.
