Hi Wayne:

I wrote to you some time ago regarding the Myers/Moyers relationships.
My dad is here now and we are finally going to put up our webpage. I
like the linking you did with your gedcom on your webpage, can you tell
me how that was done? Did you use special software or gedcom tools?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Patricia:
Nice to hear from you again. Gene Stark's GED2HTML program generated the
family tree pages from a GEDCOM file. The main Index of Surnames page file
is titled "surnames.htm". I used an html editor (many of them can be
downloaded from the web) to add the following to my main web page:
<H3>Genealogy<A HREF="surnames.htm"> 66 Surnames.</A></H3> That's all you
need for the link.

Subject: EPHRAIM KING OF LINCOLN CO. TN
Date: Wed, 4 Dec 1996 22:58:17 -0500

Hi Fellow Lincoln Co. TN Researchers:

Who were the parents of EPHRAIM KING who migrated to Lincoln Co. TN around
1815? Where was Ephraim born? Some researchers say SC; but I can find no
proof. Where was Ephraim married to Jane Harkins and when? Again, some say
SC; but no proof. I only know of his death in 1845 in Lincoln Co. and his age
at that time. Can you help me?

Where was Jane Harkins born; also when? Who were her parents? She died in
Lincoln Co. TN in 1863.

I have a lot of data on Ephraim and Jane's descendants and will exchange
details with others working on this family line. I will list a summary of his
descendants below for those who may be interested.

Does this list name all of their children? Others have suggested that he had
several more, but I have found no evidence, have you?

Hi fellow researchers, recently I sent for my gggrandfather's marriage
certificate from the tiny town of Irene, Hill County, Texas. James
L.PARKS was born in LCT, but moved on as a young man to Texas. I have
photos of him in front of his blacksmith shop around 1890. His wife was
Myra GREEN, whom I have found buried along side him in Hereford,TX. To my
surprise, the marriage certificate states that he married Miss Parmelia
GREEN in this tiny town of Irene. Could Myra be a nickname for
Parmelia? Any thoughts welcome. Thanks

Hi Kathryn:

I don't know about the nickname, but I do recall that there was a Green
family in Lincoln Co. TN. I think one of them intermarried with my King line.
Did you receive the listing of my King descendants that I sent out a couple
of days ago? If so, check it for one of the Green family members. I also
think one of my distant living cousins was a Green prior to marriage to a
King.

Sorry I can't help you on the nickname, but I do have a Parmelia in my family

Li.Co.Tn. The reason I think maybe is on T.W.BOLIN and SUSIE HILL marriage

BOLIN b. 1900 d. 1909. I know T.W.BOLIN was in Clarendon Ar. in 1910-1914,
he had a boat dock there . Do any of these names ring a bell with anyone?
the ?Bolin is my grandfather. He changed his name and only found out about
it a few years ago. If anyone can help in any way, please let me know.

Hello Everyone

I have the following books and am willing to do look-ups for anyone who might
be interested. They are all indexed, so finding a surname should not be
difficult. Franklin County, TN borders Jackson Co. AL and there has been a
lot of moving back and forth during the years. The last book is not limited
to Franklin County, and contains what seem to be Bible Records. There is
quite a bit in this book on Lincoln Co. TN, which is the county west of
Franklin. It borders Madison Co. AL.

Lincoln Co TN researchers,
The following are queries copied from the USGenWeb TN site for
"unknown county." Many times a county is mentioned in the query so I
went looking for Lincoln Co. Some of these have appeared before in
our list, so I apologize for the duplication. Also apologize for the
formatting which is the result of copying directly from a web page
and pasting it into email. If anyone has trouble reading any of the
queries, please email me and I'll try to help.

In 1900, he is on the census of Moore Co. with his wife and sons. In
August 1900, he killed a man, and then "disappears." An Old
Timer seemed to think that Harvey was the son of Will BOLIN - who may
have been the son of Jeremiah BOLIN. There were several William BOLINs
in Moore and surrounding counties. According to the Old Timer, Harvey
went to his father's house after the murder, hid out a few days, and
then together they walked to Alabama. From there he may have gone to
Texas or Oklahoma. We simply do not know what happened to him after
the murder; and we have not been able to find any evidence whatsoever
of Harvey's parents, other than the Old Timer's word. In 1880 census
of Lincoln Co., there is a Harvey, age 7, who may be "my"
Harvey, in the household of Pinkney Bolin. Pinkney and his wife are
too old to be this child's parents. No relationship is given in the
census. Can anybody solve any of these mysteries?

Have you contacted the Tennessee Department of Education? Most states
have records about current and past schools. Many private school records,

Looking for Smiths & Whiteheads - believed in Lincoln Co TN from at least
1805-1817:

Here are a few Smith/Whitehead tidbits from a review of my files:

1. On July 27 1816, Wm Whitehead of Lincoln Co TN sold 100 ac in Franklin
Co GA (witnessed by Arch Whitehead).

2. on July 28 1810, Wm Smith (believed also of Lincoln Co TN) sells 75 ac to
Robt Harrison, being part of 287 1/2 ac grant to John Stewart; On Nov 12,
1812 said Robt Harrison resells land, bringing it back into the family, to
Jesse
Smith (wit by Gideon Smith). [note: I have a different, younger, Gideon
Smith
b 1820, son of Clayborn Smith b abt 1765 in VA, died in Jackson Co GA]

3. Deed from Wm Smith of Lincoln Co TN to Andrew Earwood, conveying
200 ac to Earwood on the north fork of the Toccoa Creek, Franklin Co GA;
dated Dec 11, 1811.

4. Archibald, Wm & Joseph Whitehead are all on the 1806 tax list of Franklin
Co GA
(Their father believed to be named Jacob (Jr.), son of Lt. Col Jacob
Whitehead of Nash Co NC - Jacob Jr. was in Lincoln Co TN, possibly from about
1805 or earlier)
Arch and Nancy Smith Whitehead apparently staying in GA until about 1812.

5. A Burrell Whitehead and a Tobias Whitehead are also shown in Franklin Co
Ga records during the period: Burrell - 1802-1819; Tobias - 1799-1805 (also
in Lincoln Co TN, 1810, 1817)

6. Joseph Whitehead remained in Franklin Co GA after marriage to Ann Smith
(dau of Wm Smith) b Apr 11, 1781; they settled by Toccoa Falls. Their
children were named Jacob, Arch, Mary, Amy, Ally, Susan, Nancy, William &
Joseph Jr.

7. From Index to Early TN Wills & Admin; 1779-1861; pg 20-21
John & Julian Nail (Neal), guardians of Burrell Whitehead's Children: Sarah,
Alexander, Kesiah, Judith, Obediah & Sabra (Nail/Neal); ?? Sabra Smith - wife
of Wm Smith and Judith Smith -- Jan 1815  [RC 159-2-27 vol 6 pg 21 BT;
RC 152-2-39, vol 8, p 300-301]. This record needs to be studied and
interpreted !!!

8. Jacob Whitehead lived Habersham Co GA for 1800 census; then same (or
another ?) Jacob lived in Habersham Co GA , drawing in the 1827 lottery.
Also Joseph Whitehead shown in 1800 census of Habersham co GA.

9. Some confusing early Franklin Co GA marriage record notes:
   a. Elizabeth Smith, dau of Wm Smith mar to Carlton Greer, aft 1772
   b. Joseph Whitehead mar. to Ann (Nails ?) Smith
   c. Susanna Smith mar to Amos Richardson
   d. Ralph Smith mar to Elizabeth Moore
   e. Joshua Whitehead mar Nancy (or Ann?) Smith b 1791 (this should be
Arch A. Whitehead)
    f. Edith Smith (sis of Archer Smith) mar Nehemiah Howard

10. Jacob (Jr.) Whitehead dies in Lincoln Co TN bef April, 1817
        - inventory of estate taken in April 1817
        - allowance granted from estate to William Whitehead in May 1817
        - Tobias Whitehead is administrator for estate in Aug 1817

11. Estate of Wm Smith Jr. of Lincoln Co TN is admr by Wm Smith Sr, Dec
31, 1823

12. The children of Arch & Nancy Smith Whitehead are named as follows:
   Gracey b abt 1808 GA
   Susannah b abt 1818 GA
Joshua Alexander b Jan 9, 1810 GA [said to be Cherokee indian]
   Joseph b Jan 9, 1810 GA
Rebecca, b 1812 GA or TN (believed Lincoln Co TN)
Nancy b 1813 TN (Lincoln Co TN)
Ally Alletier b Mar 23, 1817 Lauderdale AL
Arch Jr., b 1822 Lauderdale AL
poss Wm R. b AL or Robeson Co NC ?
Talitha b 1826 Lauderdale AL [her son is said to be 1/2 Cherokee]
   Mary Elizabeth b Feb 10, 1828 AL
Henry Drury Cox, b Sept 5, 1831 AL

13. Smiths, believed from Lincoln Co TN who moved into Marion/Fayette Co Ala
are:
     Daniel, entered land in 1832
     Alfred, entered land in 1836
     William, entered land in 1836
James R, b 1811 TN (believed Lincoln Co)
In about 1849 Arch and Nancy Smith Whitehead move from Lauderdale co
AL into Fayette co and settle alongside Alfred, William & James R. Smith.

Would like any reciprocal info available on Smith or Whitehead, Lincoln Co
TN, Marion/Fayette AL or NE Georgia (Franklin/Habersham & Jackson Cos).

Does anyone have access to roster of 1812 War soldiers from Lincoln Co TN ?
Are there any Smith or Whitehead names on the list ?

Happy holidays,
Joel Mize

I saw this posting and was curious if there was any more information on
this Nancy Maddox. I do have some Maddox family members from LCT and
that name was used but 1828 appears to be a bit early. It might still be
related, though, because there was a sister that was born 1769 in
Goochland Co., VA and I have no information about her. Her father moved
to Chatham Co., NC after his children were born. Her brother Michael or
Mial moved to LCT and died there in 1831. He was married to Ruth Bryan,
the daughter of Reddin Bryan and both came from Chatham Co., NC. If that
can help, I would be interested and might could help more.

In Alabama Census 1870 is this listing.
JETT, Christine 44 b.TN (believed Franklin or Coffee)
COWLEY/CROWLEY, Martha 23 b. TN
                William 20, b. TN
                John 16, b. TN
                Margaret 8, b. TN
                Nancy 7, b. TN
                Pinkney 1, b. TN
                Mary 4, b. TN
Crowley, John 20 b. TN (is it possible that he and William are
                                    Twins?)
Is there anyone who might be able to add more information on this JETT family
and who the CROWLEY children might be. Is it possible that Christine
remarried? Any additional information appreciated. marta

Hi,

I believe we are researching the same branch of GEORGEs. Benjamin,
James, Thomas, William, and Richard GEORGE appear to be part of the
same family group in the 1820 census for Lincoln County, TN.
Benjamin shows up in the 1830 and 1840 Censuses for Haywood County,
TN. James S. and Richard F. GEORGE were part of Benjamin's
group in Haywood County. James S. shows up in the 1850 census
for Izard County, Arkansas, along with Andrew J. GEORGE. Andrew,
my gg-grandfather, was possibly the son of Richard F. GEORGE.
While much of my evidence is still circumstantial, I am fairly
confident that this line will be proven with further research.

Back in Lincoln County, James, Thomas, and William GEORGE show up
on page 235 of the 1830 census. This group appears to continue
in the 1840 census for Lincoln County as William Jr, William Sr,
Owen, Thomas, and Daniel on pages 20 and 21.

Hi Rena!

Late? ... now this is late!

Thanks for your prompt (at least by my standards) reply.

I assume you do not have a source for your theory. I have a very
indirect source for the following info:

Hi Kathryn and others,
My mother has been publishing "Pioneers" for over 25 years now. Her
health isn't good, so she can't answer correspondence until she
feels better. The volumes are available at many of the larger
genealogical libraries. Each volume has a surname index so searching
is limited. I have annotated that 1820 LCT census with references to
the Pioneer. Plan to get that up on the web soon so everyone can see
it. Have a nice new year! Will be visiting my parents in February.
George
