DAVIDSON COUNTY CEMETERY SURVEY PROJECT is a cooperative effort of
many groups including the Metro Archives, Colonial Dames (NSCDA-TN),
Nashville Room of the Public Library, Metro Planning and Historical
Commissions, Historic Nashville, Inc., the State Archaeologist, local
historians and citizens. Initiated by the Nashville Town Committee of
the Colonial Dames during the fall of 1999, with the training of
volunteers to survey and record tombstones and with a grant to the
Metro Archives for a staff person to enter the inscriptions on a
computer database. The project has involved over 90 volunteers.
