	These are to certify that Captain William Augustue Patterson served as 
Engineer to my Regiment by order of his Excellency General Washington, 
from April 1777 until January 1778 following, during which time his care 
and good conduct in two principal actions of which I had knowledge. Merit 
my best recommendations and take the liberty of recommending him to his 
Excellency the President and the Honourable the Supreme Executive Council 
of the State of Pennsylvania for their Indulgence, that he may be reinstated.
	I am with due regard their honors.
