DAVIS Zora L. Davis of Ada, Oklahoma was born on June 29, 1931 in Lawton, Oklahoma and died May 29, 2008 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years. Zora grew up and attended school in Sulphur and Ada. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Mrs. Davis worked as an accountant for thirty-three years before retiring in 2007. She attended the Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Jeff Davis and his wife Ronda of Pauls Valley and Landis Davis of Norman; and four grandchildren, Kyle Davis, Leslie Davis, Cody Davis and wife Ashley, and John Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marion Lee Smith. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis are scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel. She later earned her Certified Public Accountant designation. GaeVon was a member at McFarlin Methodist Church in Norman. She married Ronald L. Jelosek on October 1, 1991. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Henry died Monday, June 2, 2008, at a local nursing home. He was born June 15, 1922, at Fitzhugh to Floyd T. and Alta M. Hunsaker Henry. He moved to Ada from Stratford in 1927 and attended Willard and Horace Mann schools. He also attended East Central University for two years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. He and his father and brother owned and operated Henry and Sons Furniture in Ada for many years and he later worked as an Oklahoma State Highway Patrol Trooper and as a rural mail carrier for 24 years. He was a member of Ada Elks Lodge and Southwest Church of Christ. He married Beth Fuller on Aug. 14, 1940, at Coalgate. She died May 20, 2004, at Ada. Survivors include a brother, John Henry and wife Willimae, Nocona, Texas; a granddaughter, Lisa Henry, Lake Jackson, Texas; a step- granddaughter, Jennifer Falcone, Houston, Texas; a niece, Janet Alexander, Ada; a nephew, Mike Henry, Marshall, Texas; a sister-in- law, LoRene Fuller, Ada; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was born June 6, 1947, in Vamoosa to William Crawford Cooley and Nancy Elizabeth Lane Cooley. He was a lifelong Seminole County resident and enlisted in the United States Navy June 2, 1965. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received an honorable discharge Dec. 18, 1968. Mr. Cooley was a truck driver in the oil field for many years. On Nov. 24, 1979, Mr. Cooley married Bobbi Ruth Castleberry in Konawa. His mother died when he was about 3 years old and Mr. Passmore was raised by his father and stepmother, Nellie. He graudated from Bagley High School and received a teaching certificate after attending college. He retired from Sun Oil Company as an oil purchaser. He was a longtime member of College Street Church of Christ. He married Myrtle Bell, Feb. 11, 1933, at Park Hill. She died Nov. 11, 1982. In Octoer 1983, he married Macie Osbourn. She died Feb. 27, 2008. Survivors include a son, Robert “Bob” Passmore and wife, Sue; granddaughters, Bobbie Ardrey and hsuband, Joey, and Sherri Turpin and husband, Ledon; great-grandchildren, Jody Ardrey and wife, Cindy, Cody Ardrey and wife, Ashleigh, Ashlee McCoy and husband, Jet, and Chrissa Turpin; and other extended relatives and friends. She was an active member of Southwest Church of Christ. She married Walter “Waldo” Gibson Dec. 7, 1968. He died March 11, 1994. He was born Dec. 29, 1921, at Rufe, Okla., to John Thomas and Ida Bell Choate Fennell. He and his family moved to the Roff area about 1932. He attended Rufe schools. He married Nellie Bee Hinley on September 16, 1943. Mr. Fennell was a welder with Ada Iron and Metal and later with Solo Cup Company until his retirement. He was a member of the Fitzhugh Baptist Church and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Fennell, of the home; two sons, Allen Wayne Fennell, Ada, and Marshall Thomas Fennell Jr., Mangum; two daughters, Linda Kay Grant and husband Gary, Ada, and Rita Thompson and husband Rex, Duncan; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Fennell, Duncan; four brothers, Monroe Fennell, Roff, Bob Fennell, Ada, Leroy Fennell, Sulphur, and Johnny Fennell, Clifton Park, New York; two sisters, Faye Fritts, Colorado, and Margie Antone, California; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was born August 23, 1927 in Konawa to Joe Rodgers, Sr. and Mary (Doolen) Rodgers. He grew up in Konawa and was known as the local paperboy. He helped his mom at the local tag office and the family grocery store. After high school, Mr. Rodgers attended ECU for two years. He then enlisted in the US Marines in June 1945 and served his country in the 1st Marine Division during World War II. He later served in the US Army Company B 180th Infantry Regiment as a Platoon Sergeant in Japan during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in September 1951. On August 27, 1960 Jimmy married Neva Ann (Isaacs) in Konawa and moved to Wanette. Mr. Rodgers was a longtime farmer and rancher. He bailed and sold hay for almost 60 years in the Konawa area. He won several Will Rogers look-a-like contests in later years. Mr. Rodgers was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa. At OBU, Mr. Rooker took civil pilot training and was accepted for Aviation Cadet Training in the Army Air Force June 25, 1942. He graduated Oct. 1, 1943, in the class of 431 receiving his wings and commission of second lieutenant at Frederick Army Air Field in Frederick, Okla. In February 1944, he arrived in England where he completed 31 missions flying a B-17 over enemy territory. Before returning to the United States, he received his commission of first lieutenant and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Class, Air Medal with three Oak Clusters, European African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars and one Overseas Service Bar. After serving another year in the Air Force, Mr. Rooker was hired as a pilot for Pan American World Airways. He retired in May 1971 and moved to Ada. He and Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Gully were married in Shawnee Aug. 12, 1944. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Roy and Cleda Rooker, and a brother, Timothy Rooker. She married Carl Gene Wages on Oct. 6, 1962, at Boswell. They moved to this area in 1974 from McAlester. Mrs. Wages taught first and second grade at Francis School from1979 until her retirement in 2002. After retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher and teachers aide with the Latta Public School District. She was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Carl Wages, of the home; two daughters, Kristi Hayes and husband Kenny, Ada, and Keri Blevins, Ada; five grandchildren, Kody Hayes, Ada, Kory Hayes, Ada, Kailee Blevins, Ada, Kolby Blevins, Ada, and Kade Hayes, Ada; a brother, Jerry Lane and wife Nadine, Boswell; two nieces; one nephew; and five great nieces. Mr. Corvin was employed with Ideal Cement, retiring after 36 years of service. He was a member of the First Assembly of God church for 60 years, serving as treasurer and deacon for many years and he and his wife were active in the VFW and Good Sam’s RV clubs. Mr. Corvin served in the U. S. Army during World War II in many Pacific operations including the occupation of Iwo Jima. Survivors include his wife, Jewel Corvin, of the home; a daughter, Norma Joyce Smith and husband Mack, Union Valley; a son, Johnny B. She married Richard Sites Nov. 26, 1962 in Ada. Mr. Sites died July 5, 1994. Mrs. Duke would later marry Bill Duke Nov. 9, 2003. Mrs. Duke was a lifelong resident of Ada. She graduated from Ada High School and was a longtime member of the Crosspointe Church. She is survived by her husband Bill Duke of the home; two sons, Mark McGuire and his wife Judy of Oktaha, Okla., and Richard Sites and his wife Jacquita of Davis; one daughter, Shelley Whitecotton and her husband Joe of Shawnee; one sister Virginia Thompson and her husband Hank of Ada; eight grandchildren, David McGuire, Brad McGuire, Mark Whitecotton, Jason Whitecotton, Reneé Sites, Robin Sledd, Richard Sites II, Sandy Landers; and 11 great-grandchildren.
