Raymond Henry

Raymond Loy Henry, 56, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Pawnee.

Services, with Rev. Roy Fleshman officiating, will be Thursday at 3:30 

p.m. at the Morrison School Gym in Morrison. Interment will follow at the 

Morrison Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home.

He was born in Pawnee Jan. 23, 1944, to Lonnie Nolan Henry and Lorene 

Anne Wharton Henry.

He attended Pawnee Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1962.

He married Grace Lanette Adams Nov. 7, 1964, at the Masham Baptist 

Church. They moved to Morrison in 1975.

He was in the 45th Division of the Army National Guard in Pawnee and 

obtained the rank of sergeant. During his many years as a law enforcement 

officer he served as a police officer in Cleveland before joining the 

Oklahoma Highway Patrol as a trooper. He served with the Highway Patrol 

for 22 years.

He was serving Noble County as as undersheriff and was with the Noble 

County Sheriff's Department for 10 years.

He was vice president of the Oklahoma Troopers' Association, a five year 

member of the Sheriff's Peace Officers Association, the fire chief of the 

Morrison Fire Department and served on the Morrison Community Development 

Association.

He was a member of the Christian Church of Morrison.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughters, Sonya Hartwig and her 

husband, Kyle, of Perry, and Cindy Welch and her husband, Mark, of 

Pawnee; grandchildren, Bailey and Lane Welch, of Pawnee; sisters, Joyce 

Henry, of Pawnee and Beverly Willard and her husband, Leroy, of Pawnee; 

and a number of other relatives and many friends.

Holdenville resident, Billy Rhoades, 26, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000.

Sunny Sue Jessepe Daugomah, 22, Pawnee, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in 

Stillwater. 

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Poteet Funeral Chapel, 

Pawnee. Louis Richardson is officiating. Interment will be at the North 

Indian Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Poteet 

Funeral Home.

Daugomah was born Nov. 7, 1977, in Topeka, Kan., to Melvin H. Jessepe and 

Betty Sue GoodChief Rice. She was enrolled with the Prairie Band 

Potawatomi of Kansas and was half Pawnee Indian of the Pawnee Nation of 

Oklahoma. She attended Pawnee Public Schools and graduated with the class 

of 1996. She moved to Okmulgee from Pawnee in August 1998 and July 29, 

1999, she married William E. Daugomah in Okmulgee. She attended Meridian 

Technology in Stillwater in 1995 and 1996 and took Business 

Administration. In 1998 and 1999 she took Medical Secretary courses at 

Okmulgee Tech. Daugomah enjoyed expressing herself through writing poems, 

short stories and working on puzzles. She enjoyed animals and loved 

playing with her niece and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Hank Jessepe and 

Margaret Puckkee Jessepe; maternal grandparents, Robert GoodChief, Sr. 

and Elizabeth Justice GoodChief Horsechief; maternal great grandparents, 

Will Justice and Dollie Sherman Justice Moore; grandmothers, Dena

Jessie Blasier

Jessie Lea Blasier, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in Cleveland, Texas.

Friends and family will be present for visitation Sunday at Strode 

Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Strode Chapel. Interment will follow 

at Paradise Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

She was born in Payne County April 7, 1917, to Fred Delano and Jennie 

Olive Lewis Blasier in Payne County.

She attended Payne County schools and graduated from Coyle High School in 

1932.

She married Clyde Mirl Long in 1933.

They farmed until moving to Stillwater in 1947 where she worked for Mrs. 

Connors on Duck Street serving college students food. Then she worked for 

Oklahoma A and M in the men's dorm cafeteria.

The family moved to Cleveland, Texas, in January, 1951, where they owned 

and operated the Cleveland Upholstery Shop for 12 and one-half years.

In 1971, Jessie moved to Enid where she attended Nurses Aid Training at 

Vo-Tech and worked at St. Mary's Hospital until 1976 when she moved to 

Livingston, Texas, to be near her children and grandchildren.

She worked at the hospital there until her health forced her to take 

early retirement.

She returned to Cleveland, Texas, where she enjoyed teaching people 

crafts. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking for others and making 

wonderful trips back to Oklahoma, Oregon and Colorado to visit loved 

ones.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents, four brothers and three 

sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Whitehead and her husband, J. 

Hardy, and Delores Fern Mathews and her husband, Eddie; two sons, Donald 

Ray Long and his wife, Frances and Robert L. Long, all of Texas; eight 

grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and 

nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris, Donny and Glenn Hoffman, Johnnie and Rocky 

Blasier, and Max Elmer Lucas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Hoffman and Lyle Blasier of Stillwater

Bobby Vassar

Bobby G. Vassar, 74, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-

grandfather died early Sunday morning, Nov. 5, 2000, in the Cushing 

Regional Hospital.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Covenant Fellowship Church in 

Cushing. Pastor Bill Allton will preside.

Interment will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in 

Cushing.

Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

The son of the late Charlie and Dollie (Gray) Vassar, Bobby was born July 

4, 1926, in Tryon where he was reared and educated.

He was united in marriage to Della Stowers Nov. 18, 1942, in Union City, 

Texas. To this union five children, Bill, Ben, Kathy, Bobby and Betty 

were born. The Vassars would have celebrated their 58th wedding 

anniversary later this month.

After the couple were married, they briefly lived in Stillwater before 

moving to Cushing in 1953 where they made their permanent home.

Bobby was a self-employed gas station operator who loved helping whomever 

he could. He loved working with his cattle and working the land with his 

tractors on his family's land.

He was predeceased by his parents; one son, Bobby Leroy Vassar; a 

daughter, Betty Lorene Cooper; and five brothers, Clarence, Everett, Pat, 

John and Buster.

In addition to his wife, of the home, he is survived by two sons, Bill 

Vassar and his wife, Linda and Ben Vassar and his wife, Joy, all of 

Cushing; one daughter, Kathy Hale and her husband, Larry, of Cushing; two 

brothers, Charles Vassar and his wife, Mary Lee, of Cushing, and Allen 

Vassar, of Agra; one sister, Mary Smith, of Cushing; nine grandchildren, 

Stacy Boyles, Nichelle Cude, Kristi Johnson, Bobbi Scott, Derek Vassar, 

Matt Vassar, Geri Rice, Laura Vassar and Sarah Vassar; seven great-

grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and 

friends.

Casket bearers will be Bill McCarty, J.C. Hickman, Bo Hickman, Mark

Jessie Long

Jessie Lea Blasier Long born April 7, 1917, to Fred Delano and Jennie 

Olive Lewis Blasier in Payne County passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, 

in Cleveland, Texas, at the age of 83.

She attended Payne County Schools and graduated from Coyle High School in 

1932. She married Clyde Long in 1933. They farmed until moving to 

Stillwater in 1947 where she worked for Mrs. Conners on Duck Street 

serving college students food. Then she worked for Oklahoma A&M in the 

men's dorm cafeteria.

The family moved to Cleveland, Texas, in January 1951, where they owned

their divorce in 1971, Jessie moved to Enid where she attended Nurses Aid

early retirement. After retiring, she moved back to Cleveland, Texas.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, four brothers and three 

sisters.

She is survived by two Donald Ray Long of Teague, Texas, and Robert Lynn 

Long of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Ruby Lee Whitehead of Cleveland, 

Texas, and Delores Fern Matthews of Cleveland, Texas; eight 

grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Silvers of 

Colorado.

Friends and family were present for visitation at Strode Funeral Home, 

610 S. Duncan, Stillwater, Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. Services were held 

Monday at 2 p.m. at Strode Chapel with Stanley Vandergrift officiating.

Gravesides services followed at Paradise Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris, Donny and Glenn Hoffman; Johnnie and Rocky 

Blasier and Max Elmer Lucas.

Fern Seefeldt

Fern Lorene (Beeby) Seefeldt, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at the 

Stillwater Medical Center. 

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Abernathy 

Funeral Home Chapel in Crescent.

Seefeldt was born June 18, 1913, to Jessie Mae (Brown) and C. George 

Beeby at the family farm in Marshall. There were 12 children in this 

family of which Seefeldt was the last survivor. Attending schools in 

Marshall, she graduated in the class of 1931. She married Wilbert H. 

Seefeldt in Medford Jan. 19, 1933. They were married for 63 years until 

his death in 1996.

She will be remembered as a homemaker and loving mother who shared her 

laughter and enthusiasm of gardening, canning, oil painting and cooking. 

Her specialty was pies, which were often requested as gifts. A lifetime 

member of the Marshall Christian Church, Seefeldt expressed a strong 

Christian faith. Family gatherings were very important to her and she 

enjoyed camping and traveling with the First Capital Sam's Club of 

Guthrie.

Seefeldt is survived by her son, Chauncey and wife Bonnie, McLean, Va.; 

two daughters, Kay Enmeier, Stillwater; Judy Seefeldt, Stillwater; two 

grandsons, Troy and wife Martie, Enid; Brett and wife Jennifer, 

Stillwater; five great grandchildren, Brock, Bates, and Grace Enmeier, 

Enid; and Mackenzie and Stetson Enmeier, Stillwater.

Eli Mackey Jr.

Eli Mackey Jr., 60, died at his Stillwater home Monday, Nov. 6, 2000. 

Services, with Rev. Max Rudd officiating, will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. 

at South Perkins Cemetery.

Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

He was born in Savannah May 9, 1940, to Mr. and Mrs. Eli Mackey.

He married Rosetta Brixey June 1, 1980, in Las Vegas.

They lived in Oklahoma City until moving to Perkins in 1991.

He was a house painter.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Jamie Matthews, 

of Muskogee; a step-daughter, Twyla French, of Oklahoma City: and three 

brothers, Eugene Mackey, of Norman, Don Mackey, of Tucson, and Kenny 

Mackey, of Edmond.

Betty Dorworth

Wewoka resident, Betty Jean (Holmes) Dorworth, 74, died Saturday Nov. 4, 

2000, at Shawnee Regional Hospital.

Graveside services were Tuesday in Dustin. Swearingen Funeral Home 

directed the arrangements.

She was born in Hanna April 9, 1926, to Milton and Oda (Reed) Holmes. She 

moved to Seminole County, where she lived for 35 years, from Cushing

She married Hugh C. Dorworth in Gainesville, Texas in 1950 and was a 

housewife. He died June 18, 1977.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by two infant 

daughters.

Survivors include two sons, James Dorworth, of Wewoka and John Dorworth, 

of Cushing; one daughter, Kathy Kennedy, of Okmulgee; two brothers, John 

Holmes, of Rapid City, S.D. and William Holmes, of Norman; and four 

sisters, Lena Nunn, of Lawton, Velma Nunn, of Hanna, Mary Hartman, of San 

Angelo, Texas and Doris Youngblood, of Indialantic, Fla.

Cushing resident, Anna Marie Kennedy, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at 

the Cushing Regional Hospital.

Services, with Brother Wayne Tibbett presiding, will be Friday at 2 p.m. 

at the Palmer Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Parkland 

Cemetery in Parkland. Arrangements are under the direction of Palmer 

Funeral Home of Cushing.

She was born in Cushing Sept. 12, 1922, to George W. and Pricella 

(Bryant) Isenberg.

She received her early education in Cushing and was a graduate of Cushing 

High School.

She married William Ray (Jack) Kennedy in Poteau.

Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the 

Firstborn.

She loved to sew, quilt, golf and play the organ and loved her pet bird.

She was predeceased by her parents.

In addition to her husband of the home she is survived by three brothers, 

James W. Isenberg, of Ponca City, Walter Lee Isenberg, of Cushing and 

Douglas Wayne Isenberg, of Oklahoma City; and two sisters, Lois Greenwald 

and Nancy Austin, both of Oklahoma City.

June Hunter

June Hunter, 67, Yale, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at the Cushing 

Regional Hospital. 

Visitation will be until Thursday until 8 p.m. at the Yale-Palmer Funeral 

Home in Yale and on Friday until 8 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home in 

Cushing.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Pentecostal 

Church in Cushing. Rev. Francis Westberg will officiate. Interment will 

follow at the Lawson Cemetery, north of Yale.

Hunter was born Sept. 30, 1933, in Sapulpa to Bert and Maggie B. (Henson) 

Woods.

She received her early education at the Council Valley and Norfork 

schools. She attended Yale High School. She was married to Berry F. 

Hunter June 1, 1951, in Sapulpa.

She worked for the Douglas Big Country Stores as a bookkeeper and had 

also worked at the Cushing Wal-Mart store. She was a member of the United 

Pentecostal Church in Cushing.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Cecil Woods; and 

one sister, Inez Brown.

Hunter is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Berry Lee Hunter, 

Yale; one daughter, Brenda Jean Wyant, Cushing; one brother, Carl Woods, 

Cushing; one sister, Anna Marie Hamilton, Yale; two grandchildren, Candy

Henry Wells

Henry E. "Bill" Wells, 90, of Crockett, Texas, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 

2000, in the East Texas Medical Center in Crockett. 

Graveside services, with Rev. Charles Goodson officiating, were today in 

the New Salem Cemetery in Centerville, Texas.

Arrangements were under the direction of Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 9, 1910, in Bedias, Texas.

He was employed with the Sutton Sawmill in the late 1930's and from 1942 

until 1944 worked in a ship yard in Orange, Texas.

He returned to Leon County in 1944 where he farmed and ranched and raised 

a family of seven.

From 1962 until 1975, he lived in Porter Springs, Texas, where he was in 

real estate and ranching.

He moved to Crockett in 1975 where he was a rancher and real estate 

developer until his death.

He was predeceased by his parents, Henry E. and Belle Shanks Wells; one 

son, Guy Murphy Wells; a daughter, Virginia Belle McLaughlin; three 

brothers, Olen Wells, Carl Wells and Wilbur Wells; and three sisters, 

Essy Tullis, Lily Gamble and Effie Lee Wells.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Wolf, of Greenville, Miss., Gaye 

Wells, of Dallas and Dorothy I. Reese, of Crockett; two sons, Allen P. 

Wells, of Houston and Henry E. Wells Jr., of Stillwater; two sisters, 

Jennie Holyfield, of Centerville and Lucy Force, of Bryan Texas, seven 

grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Jessie Long

Jessie Lea Blasier Long, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in Cleveland, 

Texas. 

Friends and family were present for visitation Sunday at Strode Funeral 

Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Strode Chapel. Interment followed 

at Paradise Cemetery. The Rev. Garland Davidson officiated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

She was born in Payne County April 7, 1917, to Fred Delano and Jennie 

Olive Lewis Blasier.

She attended Payne County schools and graduated from Coyle High School in 

1932. She married Clyde Mirl Long in 1933.

They farmed until moving to Stillwater in 1947 where she worked for Mrs. 

Connors on Duck Street serving college students food. Then she worked for 

Oklahoma A&M in the men's dorm cafeteria.

The family moved to Cleveland, Texas, in January 1951, where they owned 

and operated the Cleveland Upholstery Shop for 12 and one-half years.

In 1971, Jessie moved to Enid where she attended Nurses Aid Training at 

Vo-Tech and worked at St. Mary's Hospital until 1976 when she moved to 

Livingston, Texas, to be near her children and grandchildren.

She worked at the hospital until her health forced her to take early 

retirement.

She returned to Cleveland, Texas, where she enjoyed teaching people 

crafts. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking for others, and making 

wonderful trips back to Oklahoma, Oregon and Colorado to visit loved 

ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and 

three sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Whitehead and her husband J. 

Hardy, and Delores Fern Mathews and her husband Eddie; two sons, Donald 

Ray Long and his wife Frances and Robert L. Long, all of Texas; eight 

grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Chris, Donnie, and Glenn Hoffman, Johnnie and Rocky 

Blasier, and Max Elmer Lucas.

Honorary pallbearers were Dick Hoffman and Lyle Blasier, Stillwater.

Beverly Jean Swart

Beverly Jean Swart, 74, Pawnee, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at her 

son's home in Pawnee.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday in Eshelman Memorial Chapel. 

The Rev. Ray Moffeit will officiate. Interment will be in Highland 

Cemetery under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home.

Swart was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to Ross David Debolt 

and Sadie Wallace Debolt.

She moved to Pawnee as a teenager and had lived there since.

She married Reinhard "Riney" F. Swart on Nov. 1, 1944, in Pawnee. He died 

Aug. 8, 1995.

Swart spent the past 15 years giving private care at home for elderly 

people. She devoted her life to caring for people in need.

She also served as a medaide at the nursing home and worked for Pawnee 

Rexall Drug during the 1960s and 1970s.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and her 

grandson, Holden Peckenpaugh.

Swart is survived by one son, Terry F. Swart of Pawnee; two 

grandchildren, Terry F. Swart Jr. of Morrison, and Mary Peckenpaugh of 

Skedee; three great-grandchildren, Levi Peckenpaugh of Skedee and Allison 

Swart and Landen Swart, both of Morrison; one brother Kenneth Reynolds of

Susan McKenna

Susan Frances (Lawson) McKenna, 48, Edmond, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, 

at the Edmond Regional Hospital.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 

Cushing. Rev. George E. Brock, III will officiate. Interment will follow 

in the Shamrock Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Davis 

Funeral Home.

McKenna was born May 5, 1952, to Philip Nelson "Blackie" Lawson and 

Frankie (Griffith) Lawson-Smith in Phoenix, Ariz. She lived with her 

parents in the Phoenix area up until 1961 when they moved to Oklahoma. 

They briefly lived in Norman before moving to Oklahoma City where McKenna 

attended high school up until her junior year. They moved to Cushing 

where she finished her high school education.

She married Tom McKenna and the couple had one daughter, Lawren.

McKenna was a member of the First Christian Church in Cushing. She 

previously attended the University of Central Oklahoma for three years. 

At the time of her death, she was working for the Edmond Santa Fe School 

system in their Dietary Department.

She is preceded in death by her father and one brother, Lael Anthony 

Lawson.

McKenna is survived by her daughter, Lawren McKenna, of the home; her 

mother, Frankie Smith and her husband Harold, Tulsa; one brother, Phillip 

Lawson and wife Barbara, Anoka, Minn.; one aunt, Wilma Phillips, Broken 

Arrow; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Homer Ray Jr.

Homer Wallace Ray Jr., 70, a Texas native who was co-publisher of the 

Yale News for half his life, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, in a traffic 

accident north of Muskogee. 

Services, with Steve Holly, pastor of Yale's Town and Country Christian 

Church, and Mike Dershem, youth minister of Yale's First Baptist Church 

presiding, will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the New High School 

gymnasium.

Interment will follow in the Lawson Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis-Yale-Chapel of Yale.

He was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Electra, Texas to Margaret and Homer W. Ray 

Sr.

After graduating from high school in Electra he attended Midwestern 

University in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Homer was married to Mae Beth Cain in July, 1960, in Lawton.

He had a newspaper career that spanned 58 years.

He started as a "printer's devil" in his hometown paper, the Electra Star 

News, when he was only 13 years old. Later, he was employed as a printer 

on newspapers in Iowa Park, Pampa, Kilgore, Conroe, Fort Worth, Alpine, 

Bowie, Littlefield and Sugarland, Texas.

In 1952, he left the Wichita Falls Texas Record News for the Lawton 

Constitution where he worked as a printer for 13 years. While in Lawton, 

he served two terms as state president of the Typographers Union and had 

held every office in the Lawton chapel of the union.

In August 1965, Homer and Beth Ray and her father, the late Ralph Cain 

Sr. bought the Yale Record. The next year the Ray's bought the 

controlling interest in the newspaper and changed its name to the Yale 

News.

During the three and a half decades the Rays were co-publishers of the 

newspaper, the Yale News captured the sweepstakes trophy six times in its 

division in the annual Better Newspaper contest sponsored by the Oklahoma 

Press Association.

Under the Rays' guidance, the Yale News also was presented approximately 

200 plaques and certificates of appreciation from local organizations.

In addition, over the years, Homer won 30 editorial and column-writing 

awards in a monthly contest sponsored jointly by the Oklahoma Press 

Association and the Oklahoma Natural Gas Co.

In 1993, Homer W. Ray Jr. was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall 

of Fame where he joined his father-in-law, Ralph Cain Sr.

Homer formerly was a member of the Yale Rotary Club and was active in 

civic affairs throughout his life in Yale.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Ronnie Ray, all of 

Electra, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Mike W. Ray and his 

wife, Sherry, of Oklahoma City; a grandson, Ean D. Ray and his wife, 

Kristal, of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Don and Henry Ray, both of 

Texas; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A memorial to help Mrs. Ray and designated the Homer Ray Memorial Fund

Mary Lorene Harting Yiengst, 70, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at her 

Stillwater home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fairlawn Cemetery with 

Rev. Susan Ross officiating. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is directing 

the arrangements.

She was born June 24, 1930, in Stillwater to C.H. and Mary Ethel (Rice) 

Harting.

She married Curtis James Doolin June 12, 1957. On Dec. 23, 1977, she 

married Delmar Yiengst in Arkansas City, Kan.

After her marriage to Curtis James Doolin, the family lived in the 

Stillwater and Coyle area where Mr. Doolin was employed as a farm 

laborer.

The couple had four children and they lived and worked in the Stillwater 

and Coyle area. She later became employed at the Oklahoma State 

University Union where she worked for 15 years.

Throughout her lifetime she greatly enjoyed gardening, canning and caring 

for her farm animals.

She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Imogene; and her first 

and second husbands.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth C. Doolin and his wife, Connie, of 

Stillwater, and Gary L. Doolin and his wife, Susan, of Coyle; two 

daughters, Donnetta E. Shanahan and her husband, Terry, of San Antonio, 

Texas and Mary Louise Jalawi and her husband Abdullah, of Cushing; 10 

grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Harting 

and Delbert Harting, both of Stillwater; and two sisters, Laverne 

Turnbow, of Stillwater and Doris Snow, of California.

Communication Workers of America. She worked as a telephone operator.

Drymon married Madelyn Mildred Vehiller Oct. 20, 1945, at Fairfax. She 

died Aug. 23, 1998.

Drymon was a nurseryman by occupation, and was employed by Henderson's 

Nursery in Ralston for many years. He also worked in carpentry, plumbing 

and as a electrician.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ralston.

Drymon was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, one sister, four 

grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by five sons; Arthur Drymon of Owasso, Harry Drymon of

David Cooper

David Lawrence Cooper, 53, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, in Stillwater.

Services, with Pastor Tom Westbrook presiding, will be Monday at 3:30

Arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

He was born Nov. 15, 1947, in Albuquerque, N.M. to Hampton J. and Jewel 

Ann (Coker) Cooper.

He married Georgia Tobe in Albuquerque in 1972. They were later divorced.

He married Page Provence April 23, 1982 in Lubbock, Texas. They were 

later divorced.

He graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque in 1965. He joined 

the Navy in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1968.

He then served in the Air Force from 1971-1974 and continued his military 

service in the Air National Guard from 1974 until 1975.

He furthered his education at numerous institutions including The 

University of Indiana at Bloomington, The University of Albuquerque, The 

Community College of the Air Force, Midwestern State University and Mesa 

Community College.

David worked for many years in the medical field as a medical 

technologist. He began work in 1992 as a lab technician at OSU in the 

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

He was self-employed as a painting contractor at the time of his death. 

His death was the result of complications from a recent injury.

David was a person who loved the outdoors and made friends easily. His 

daughters were the center of his world.

He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by his father and by his adopted father.

He is survived by three daughters, Averi Cooper, Jill Cooper and Heather 

Cooper, all of Stillwater; his mother, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two 

sisters, Jo Deane Hollyfield and her husband, Ed, of Indianapolis, and 

Leah Anne Banning and her husband, Sam, of Arlington, Texas; two nieces 

and one nephew.

Pallbearers will be Ed Hollyfield, Jim Blair, Mark Grimsley, Larry 

Gosney, Larry Kitchens and Rusty Hageman.

Betty Caine

Betty Louise (Willis) Caine, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, in 

Stillwater. 

Services, with Rev. Bob Copeland presiding, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at 

the First Baptist Church in Pawnee. Interment will be at Highland 

Cemetery in Pawnee.

Poteet Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

She was born in Pawnee Jan. 15, 1920, to Ed and Rena (Irvin) Willis.

She married Grover Cain Sr. Oct. 10, 1942, in Pawnee. To that union four 

children, Berthena, Lucinna, Grover Jr. and Norma were born. Lucinna died 

in 1959 at age 16.

She lived most of her life in Pawnee where she attended school. Starting 

at an early age Betty was a highly regarded Christian member of Antioch 

Baptist Church in Pawnee.

She was always ready and willing to do whatever it took to keep the 

church afloat. Her dedication was everlasting as she was one of the 

members to rebuild the church after the original structure burned down.

She was respected by many for spiritual counseling and guidance. For 

years she was honored and loved by Antioch and associated churches as the 

"Mother of the Church."

Although it was her desire to continue attending church in the past two 

years she was unable to do so because of her illness.

She was a blessing to many and will be missed by those who knew her.

"MeMe," thank God for you and we will miss you.

In addition to her daughter, Lucinna, she was predeceased by her husband, 

parents, five brothers, three sisters, and grandson, Derel Green.

She is survived by two daughters, Berthena Green and her husband, R. D.,

Raymond Behrens, 76, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at St. Francis 

Hospital in Tulsa. 

Graveside services, with Rev. Carlton Riemer presiding, will be Tuesday 

at 10:30 a.m. at Lawson Cemetery, north of Yale.

He was born in Glencoe May 17, 1924, to Steve and Sally (Flannery) 

Behrens.

He married Beulah Correll in Cushing in 1944. They were later divorced.

He married Linda Kelly in Miami July 27, 1984.

He attended school in Clayton and after his education he traveled 

extensively throughout the southwestern United States where he worked on 

construction.

In 1948 he moved to Cushing and began his career as an electrician. He 

later become employed at OSU as an electrician and remained in that 

capacity for 12 years.

In the 1970s he became affiliated with Field and Wilson Electric where he 

was employed at the time of his death.

He was very active with and was instrumental in the formation of the 

Ripley 4-H Club. He loved cattle, horses and farming and for many years 

was an active participant in the sport of rodeo. He also enjoyed 

attending auctions.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Kenneth and 

a son, Bobby.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Joe and his wife, Tara, 

of Stillwater; one daughter, Aliena LaFollette and her husband, Robert, 

of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Brian Behrens and his wife, Candy, 

of Sand Springs, Gena Burwell and her husband, Jimmy of Dewar, Pam 

LaFollette, of Oklahoma City and Robbie LaFollette, also of Oklahoma 

City; and four great-grandchildren.

JoAnn "Jody" Dowdy Franz, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at 

Stillwater Medical Center.

times are 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday at 

Kitch Funeral Home. Interment will be in Liberal, Kan.

She was born in Liberal Aug. 13, 1926, to Oscar Thomas and LaUna Foltz 

Dowdy.

She graduated from Liberal High School in 1944.

Mrs. Franz was a lifelong Liberal resident and was a rancher, farmer and 

business woman.

She had a vast love and knowledge of the cattle and quarter horse 

industry. She was an avid and knowledgeable collector of antique dolls.

Since 1989 she. supplied working cattle to her daughter's Walking F 

cutting horse ranch in Stillwater.

In 1997 she moved to live with her daughter in Stillwater where she lived 

until her death.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberal and a 

board member of the Citizens State Bank.

On Dec. 25, 1947, she married Eugene H. "Gene" Franz in Liberal. He and 

his son, Alan, died March 2, 1979.

Mrs. Franz felt it a great honor to be able to work with her husband on 

the farm and her ranch.

Her second greatest joy was to raise her children. She was very proud of 

her grandchildren, who are Kansas University graduates, Miles Alan, who 

is pursuing a career in Overland Park, Kan. and Alex Gene who is 

currently continuing his studies in Phoenix, Ariz. and Denver, Colo.

She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Jo Franz, of Stillwater, one 

sister, Jean Maupin, of Guymon; and two grandchildren, Miles and Alex 

Franz.

Pauline Jewel Shingleton

Pauline Jewel Shingleton, 75, Stillwater, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, 

in Stillwater.

Services will be held at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 11 a.m. 

Wednesday with the Rev. Richard Poe officiating. Interment will be in 

Jameson Cemetery near Meeker.

Services are under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.

Shingleton was born July 25, 1925, in Buffalo, Mo., to Carol and Hannah 

Elizabeth (Tucker) Quigley.

She married Charles "Max" Shingleton on Nov. 1, 1947, in Bristow. They 

later moved to Stillwater.

Shingleton was a member of the Church of Christ. She worked as a 

bookkeeper for Katz Department Store for 30 years.

Her hobbies included reading, sewing and cooking. In addition, she 

greatly enjoyed the time she spent volunteering at the St. Andrew's 

thrift shop.

Civic organizations with which she associated included American Business 

Women's Association and Business and Professional Women.

She was predeceased by both of her parents.

Shingleton is survived by her husband, Max; two daughters, Judi Edminson 

of Oklahoma City and Beverly Beran of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Quentin 

Quigley of Hudsonville, Mich.; one sister, Maxine Rockwell and her 

husband, Melvin, of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren.

Dallas Cotham

Dallas Clyde Cotham, 90, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at Ninnescah Manor 

in Clearwater, Kan.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Strode Funeral Chapel. Ted Gibson 

will preside.

Interment will follow at Tryon Cemetery.

Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

He was born in Oregon County, Mo., Feb. 18, 1910, to Sular Emit Cotham 

and Rachel Catherine (Underwood) Cotham.

He married Irene Matthews in Stillwater June 18, 1938.

They lived in Stillwater until 1941 when they moved to California until 

he went into the service in 1943. He was a Technician Fifth Grade with 

the 808 Engineer Aviation Battalion, Army Engineers. He received the Good 

Conduct Medal, Phillippine Liberation Ribbon, and one Bronze Star.

He received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in the Asiatic Pacific 

Theater in June, 1944. He participated in battles and campaigns in New 

Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon.

When he returned they lived in Guthrie until 1948 when they moved to 

Stillwater.

He worked for Manhattan Construction Co. and other companies. He was an 

avid fisherman and hunter.

He was a member of the Christian Union Church in Tryon, Guthrie Lodge 

number 35 and Guthrie Scottish Rite 32 degree. He received his 50 year 

pin for both in 1998.

On Nov. 4, 2000, they moved to Clearwater, Kan., to be close to their son 

and his family.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Willard H. Cotham.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Eldon R. Cotham and 

his wife, Nina, of Clearwater, Kan.; two grandchildren, Lee A. Cotham and 

his wife, Andrea, of Clearwater, Kan., and Ann Cotham and her husband 

Cayle Eurton, of Haysville, Kan.; five great-grandchildren, Cole, Brady 

and Alexa Cotham, of Clearwater, Kan. and Austin and Javan Eurton, of 

Haysville, Kan.; one brother, Homer L. Cotham and his wife, Veretta, of 

Richardson, Texas; and a sister in law, Mrs. Willard (Mary) Cotham, of 

Cushing.

Yale resident Elsie Irene Thomas, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at

Jessie Lynn will accompany vocalists Cindy Williams and Prince Hixson.

She was born in Yale July 17, 1923, to Bennie and Bessie (Harris) Powers. 

She received her early education at the Council Valley School and 

attended the Norfolk School. She attended Cosmetology school in 

Stillwater.

She married J G Thomas in Norfolk Oct. 3, 1941. They moved to Yale in 

1976 where they resided since.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yale.

She was a beautician for 37 years and ran a beauty shop in her home in 

Yale.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Bessie Jane (Reimer) Hart; her 

parents; four brothers, Kenneth, Clifford, Buddy and Ben Jack Powers; and 

three grandchildren, twins, Jessie and Heath Thomas and Russell Don 

Reimer.

In addition to her husband of 59 years she is survived by three sons, J G 

Thomas Jr. and Harold Thomas, both of Yale, and Thomas Thomas of Cushing; 

one daughter, Marquita Adair, of Mannford; two sisters, Opal Kelley, of 

Cushing, and Helen Austin, of Bartlesville; 17 grandchildren and 24 

great-grandchildren.

Ada Marie Malernee, 85, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at her Cushing 

residence. 

Services, with Rev. Robert Adams officiating, will be Friday at 2 p.m. in 

the First Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in the Euchee 

Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday from 2 

p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until service time.

The daughter of the late Eli Thompson and Stella (Rogers) Thompson, she 

was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Parkland. She was reared and educated in the 

Shamrock area.

She was united in marriage to John W. Malernee July 9, 1950, in Cushing. 

The couple lived in Cushing since then.

She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church and loved music 

and sang in a quartet for many years. She also enjoyed painting, walking 

and being with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by three brothers and one 

sister.

Survivors include her husband, of over 50 years; three children, Cindy 

Doak and her husband, Mark, of Cushing, Deena Brandenberget and her 

husband, Lynn, of Weslico, Texas, and Carol Hittle, of Tulsa; one 

brother, Joe Thompson, of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Christy Doak, 

Ilex Brandenberget, Kyle Brandenberget, Calysta Alsborg and Greg Terra; 

two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

James C. King, 58, better known as "Happy," a retired school teacher and 

a Navy veteran died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at his Cushing residence. 

Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery in 

Cushing. Rev. Tony Black of the Park Place Baptist Church will preside.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday from 2

The son of the late J.C. King Sr. and Felma Louise (Koble) King, Happy

School for several years before he retired.

Patricia "Patsy" Workman, 68, Perry, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at the 

Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City.

in Perry. Interment will be at the Grace Hill Cemetery. Rev. Buddy Hunt

Workman was born on June 28, 1932, in Perry to John J. and Cora (Kasl) 

Pricer. She graduated from Perry High School in 1950. She married Bill 

Dean Workman Sept. 27, 1952, in Oklahoma City. Workman was housewife and 

had been a child care provider for 43 years. She was a member of the 

First Baptist Church of Perry and the Perry Elks Lodge.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Debi, seven 

brothers, and four sisters.

Workman is survived by her husband Bill of the home; four sons, Mark 

Workman and wife Rhonda, Woodward; Mike Workman and wife Guyla, Perry; 

Marvin Workman and wife Paula, Perry; Rob and wife Karen Cockrum, 

Milford, Mass.; three daughters, Pam Workman and very dear and special

She married Jennings Bryan Coomer Jan. 14, 1942, in Bowling Green, Ken. 

He died April 12, 1943.

She married Fred Wallace Crow June 20, 1950, in Creek County.

Mrs. Crow worked as a bookkeeper for Casa Bonita for 11 years and she 

also worked for Judge Berry in Oklahoma City for many years.

She was a Methodist and was a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club, Sooner 

Unit 167 of Oklahoma City, where she was secretary and bookkeeper.

Mrs. Crow is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mike Vogle 

of Morrison.; two grandchildren; Justin Vogle and Ashleigh Vogle, both of 

Morrison; one brother, Gene Quier of Yale; two sisters, Janie Wilson of 

Norman and Ida Belle Quier of Oklahoma City.

She was predeceased by her parents, one brother, Dewey Quier and her 

husbands, Jennings Bryan Coomer and Fred Wallace Crow.

Maxine Oldham

Maxine Meta Oldham was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Stillwater to W.H. and 

Mamie Kuechenmeister.

She died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000.

On March 24, 1940, she married Perry D. Oldham.

Mrs. Oldham was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Jean 

Watts.

She was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, loved her 

family, home, garden, books and music.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Perry Oldham Jr., and his wife 

Sue of Oklahoma City and Bill Oldham and his wife Marietta of Houston, 

Texas; grandchildren, Benjamin, Alison, Melissa, Samuel and Michelle;

Also, sisters, Mrs. June Williamson and her husband Wilburn of Oklahoma 

City and Mrs. Helen German of Stillwater.

Parkland resident George E. Hale, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at the

Mr. Hale worked in the oil fields. He loved to hunt and fish.

Raymond Willingham

Raymond A. Willingham died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000. 

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Edmond Church of Christ.

Willingham was born June 12, 1918, to Bob and Lola Mae Willingham in 

Yeager. He married Reba Haney Dec. 24, 1938, and from that extremely 

close marriage was produced six children, 14 grandchildren, and five 

great-grandchildren.

Willingham was a graduate of Fairview High School (Holdenville) and East 

Central State College. He received his Master of Education Degree from 

University of Oklahoma. He served as superintendent of Fairview 

(Holdenville), Maud and Carrier public schools. He retired from the State 

Department of Education where he served as director of the Title I 

Program for a number of years. Willingham loved and enjoyed the love of 

his Lord, his wife, his family, his church, Edmond Church of Christ and 

the many children he influenced through education over the years. He 

faithfully served his lord and his church as an elder in various places 

where he lived.

Willingham is survived by his wife Reba; sister, Yvonne Kelley, Detroit, 

Mich.; sons, Alton Willingham and wife Noveeta, Oklahoma City; Steve 

Willingham and wife Kristy, Perkins; Ross Willingham and wife Candace,

Cleo Bailey

Cleo Doreen (McCamey) Bailey died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Rosewood Care 

Center. 

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Strode Chapel. Interment will be at 

Coyle Cemetery.

Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

She was born in Coyle Feb. 8, 1920, to Loyde D. and Pearl Marie (Arnett) 

McCamey.

During her early years she attended Coyle School and was a member of the 

Christian Church. In 1925, her family moved to Oklahoma City where she 

finished her schooling.

She was married to Charles "Bus" Osborn in Frederick June 7, 1936. The 

couple lived in California for a while but moved back to Oklahoma City.

To this marriage two daughters, Marie Elizabeth and Faye "Lorraine" were 

born. The marriage ended in divorce.

During WW II, Cleo worked at Tinker Air Force Base. In 1948 she married 

William Washam. To this marriage William Loyde was born. The marriage 

ended in divorce.

Later, Cleo married Charles Raymond Bailey. To this marriage, Charles 

Loyde Bailey was born.

She moved to Guthrie where she lived until 1984 when she moved to 

Rosewood Care Center.

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Twila Marie McCamey; a 

brother, John Arthur McCamey; a daughter, Faye "Lorraine" (Osborn) 

Cundiff; and a grandson, William Edgar "Eddie" Long Jr.

Survivors include a daughter Marie Elizabeth (Osborn) Jones and her 

husband, Marvin, of Stillwater; two sons, William Loyde "Bill" Washam, of 

Vinita, and Charles Loyde Bailey Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Ripley; 

nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Thomas Long, of Newcastle, Charles Loyde Bailey 

Jr. and Jake Henry Bailey, of Ripley, David McKee, David McKee Jr. and 

Joe McKee, all of Coyle.

John Leverich will be honorary pallbearer.

Clarence Lambert

Clarence William Lambert was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic 

Church and the chairman of the board of Lambert Construction Company.

He died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at his residence in Stillwater at the 

age of 93.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 

with Father Bob Schlitt, Father Joe Townsend and Father Dick Bradley 

officiating.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Xavier 

Church in Stillwater.

Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of 

Strode Funeral Home.

He was born in Avoca, Iowa, Feb. 3, 1907, the only child of William and 

Ottille (Karges) Lambert.

He graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City and attended 

Oklahoma A&M College.

He married Mary Ruth Harrison Aug. 14, 1931, in Goodnight. They moved to 

Stillwater from Oklahoma City in 1939.

His career in construction spanned over 70 years. He built many schools, 

churches, commercial and public buildings throughout Oklahoma. He was a 

member of the Stillwater Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, RAR, Knife and 

Fork, OSU Posse and Knights of Columbus.

He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, where he served as advisor, 

and as a member and past treasurer for the house corporation. The OSU 

Chapter of Sigma Nu established the Clarence Lambert Alumni Service Award 

in 1972.

An avid trap shooter, he won seven state championships and was inducted 

into both the Oklahoma and the American Amateur Trap shooters Hall of 

Fame. He worked with the Boy Scouts as a District Commissioner and after 

retirement taught construction estimating at OSU.

He was recognized as Boss of the Year by the National Secretaries 

Association and served on various advisory committees for the location 

and construction of community facilities. He was a member of the 

Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma and was recognized as its 

Builder of the Year and a member of the Oklahoma Builders Hall of Fame.

He was a long-time OSU sports fan, holding OSU basketball and football 

season tickets since 1939.

He was predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by wife, Mary Ruth (Harrison) Lambert, and eight children, 

Bill Lambert and his wife, Dolores, of Stillwater; Carolyn and her 

husband, Dick Buser, of Oklahoma City; David Lambert and his wife, 

Phyllis, of Stillwater; Mary Elizabeth and her husband, Pat McCoy, of 

Starkville, Miss.; Mike Lambert and his wife, Lisa, of Stillwater; Nancy 

and her husband, Dale Zellers, of Bartlesville; Bob Lambert and his wife, 

Kathy, of Stillwater; and Rick Lambert of Norman; 30 grandchildren; and 

26 great-grandchildren.

His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, altar boys, liturgists and 

vocalists. Honorary pallbearers will be Chub Bellatti and Charles Kaupke.

Helen Nelson

Helen Nelson, 94, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Cole's Resthaven in 

Guthrie.

Services with Pastor Linda Beal presiding, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at 

Davis Funeral Chapel in Guthrie. Interment will be in Crescent Cemetery 

in Crescent.

Davis Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

She was born April 30, 1906, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, to Thomas and Eda 

(Huff) Roten.

When she was seven, she moved to the Guthrie area.

She married Bryan Nelson May 26, 1926, in Kingfisher. He died June 7, 

1980.

She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of the Church of God of 

Prophecy in Guthrie.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by one sister, 

four brothers, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include six sons, Merlyn Nelson, Kenneth V. (Doc) Nelson and 

his wife, Doris, Gerald W. (Soc) Nelson, and Deral (Dubie) Nelson, all of 

Guthrie, and Eulas D. Nelson and his wife, Margaret, and Marion Nelson 

and his wife, Eileen, all of Stillwater; one brother, Bill Roten and his

Helen Elliot

Helen Janice Elliot, 71, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in Stillwater. 

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Strode Chapel. Cremation will follow 

the services.

She was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Love County near Marietta to Cecil and 

Josie (Bass) Gray.

She was a homemaker and resided in Stillwater for the last six years 

since she moved here from Meeker.

She was predeceased by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include one son, Terry Thomas, of Stillwater; one daughter, 

Delonna Mason and her husband, Richard, of Meeker; nine grandchildren, 

Lonnie, Gina, Chris, Joe, Terri, Teresa, Rusty, Tim and Tony; nine great-

grandchildren Jacob, Joey, Taylor, C.J., Justin, Jonathan, Alyssa, 

Brittani and Timmy; two brothers, Winston Gray and his wife, Mary, of

Cushing resident, Alice Faye Orr, 60, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at 

Stillwater Medical Center. Services will be Friday at the Palmer Funeral

She was born in Yale July 26, 1940, to Everett and Laverna (Swider) 

Bingamon.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Vickie Molinar.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Orr; one daughter, Pamela Sweet; 

one son, Bill Orr; six grandchildren, Sidney, Nicholas, Jason Sweet, 

Nicole Cyndle and La Tosha Orr; mother, La Verna Swider, of Cushing; 

brothers, Loyd Bingamon, of Cushing, Lester Bingamon, of Stroud, and

Texas.

Her family moved to Ft. Worth, where she graduated from Central High 

School Then she went on to NTAC where she met her husband. She graduated 

from NTAC in 1934. The couple moved to Gulfport, Miss. and then to Ft. 

Worth, where she stayed while Roger served in the Sea Bees during World 

War II. After his return, they lived numerous places until 1960 when they 

moved to Roeland Park, Kan.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband died Jan. 4, 

1978.

Turner is survived by one daughter, Deacon Helen Mountford, San 

Francisco, Calif.; four sons, Roger Linn Turner, Dallas, Texas; J. Scott 

Turner and wife Dorcas, Stillwater; Lee Cutler Turner and wife Kay, Mt.

Don Berger

Don Berger, 60, Yale, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Alzheimer 

Center in Tulsa.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m Friday at the Lawson 

Cemetery, north of Yale. Services are under the direction of Yale-Palmer 

Funeral Home.

Berger was born Aug. 22, 1940, in Quay to John and Eunice Berger. He 

received his early education in Quay and graduated from Quay High School 

class of 1958. He attended Warner Junior College on a basketball 

scholarship. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1964 with a 

Bachelor of Science degree..

He taught science, math, and coached girls' basketball in Mannford. He 

also held teaching positions at Central High in Tulsa and Agra. He 

pipelined for F.D. Curtis, Cleveland X-Ray, Chuck Burch, Central X-Ray 

and Don Edwards, Edwards Pipeline. In 1986 he moved to Vallejo, Calif., 

and was employed by Mare Island Navel Shipyard as a Health Physicist, 

later with Westinghouse/Hanford, Richland, Wash. He returned to Yale in 

1996.

He married Jerry Edwards Clayman Feb. 7, 1959. He later was married to 

Carol Nelson Nov. 11, 1976. He was a member of the First United Methodist 

Church in Yale and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Johnice Berger Hedrick in 1959.

Berger is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Karl 

McGregor, Waldorf, Md.; two grandsons, Keegan and Kolin McGregor, 

Waldorf, Md.; his parents, John and Eunice Berger, Yale; sister and 

brother-in-law, Sharon and Lonnie Austin, Oklahoma City; niece and 

nephew, Sherry Ann Ray and John Austin, Oklahoma City.

Jack Hall Keller, 76, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in Ardmore. 

Services and interment will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Rosemound Cemetery 

in Medford.

He was born in Medford June 25, 1924, to Homer H. and Ethylene (Hall) 

Keller.

He was a member of the Navy from 1942 until 1945.

Until his retirement he managed lumber yards in Medford, Oklahoma City 

and Ardmore.

He was a Catholic.

He was predeceased by his parents and one infant son, Kerry Kyle Keller.

He is survived by his wife, Patti, of the home; two sons, Jim Keller, of 

Augusta Kan. and John Keller, of Ponca City; five daughters, Jacque 

Conway, of Houston, Texas, Janice Wheatley, of Stillwater, Sami Cole, of 

Oklahoma City, Shannon Weidmer, of Oklahoma City and Shea Crain, of

Lillian Adkins

Lillian Irene Adkins, 73, Perkins, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at her 

home. 

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lost Creek United 

Methodist Church. Max Rudd will officiate. Funeral services are under the 

direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Adkins was born Sept. 26, 1927, to Fred and Angie (Matheson) Reddout in 

Ripley. She married Earl R. Adkins Feb. 9, 1947, in Cushing. Adkins 

graduated from Perkins High School in 1946. She was a member of the 

school choir and sang at weddings and funerals. She was a member of the 

Lost Creek United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher and a 

Prayer Warrior who prayed daily for others. Adkins was a member of the 

church choir and taught her children to sing in harmony. She loved to 

knit and crochet and was an avid bird watcher. She made and sold many 

craft items for the church. Adkins loved to give to others.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Adkins is survived by her husband Earl of the home; five daughters, 

Elizabeth (Beth) Howey and her husband Richard, Brenham, Texas; Evelyn 

McCaslin and her husband Rob, Perkins; Elaine Lynch and her husband 

Michael, Stillwater; Emily Joyce Winston and her husband Matthew, 

Perkins; Ellen Long and her husband Tony, Tryon; one son, Ernest Adkins 

and wife Patty Crumm, Ada; eight grandchildren David Howey and wife 

Kristi (Langdon), Enid; Katherine Howey, San Marcos, Texas; Tammy

Clara Young

Clara Isaphene Young, 59, of Waynoka, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at 

Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. 

Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Strode Chapel in Stillwater. 

Interment will be at the Marena Cemetery in Marena. Pastor Marvin Skinner 

will officiate. Services are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Young was born April 8, 1941, to Alma and Bertha (Whitmore) Harshman, in 

Stillwater.

Young graduated from Perkins High School in 1959. After high school, she 

worked at Stillwater Laundry and then waitressed at the Stillwater Cafe. 

She married George Young April 9, 1964, in Stillwater. The couple moved 

to Enid, where she kept the books for their family business, George's 

Tire Service. In 1982, they moved to Salt Plains where she worked as a 

cook for Jack and Mary's Cafe. The couple eventually divorced. Young 

suffered a stroke in 1994 while working at Cherokee Manor. She resided in 

Waynoka, where she was the manager of the Little Sahara Motel.

She was a member of the Helena Baptist Church and the Quilting Club at 

the Helena Senior Citizens Center. In her spare time, she volunteered in 

4-H, homemakers, Bible School, and county and state fairs. She enjoyed 

crocheting, sewing, quilting and outdoor activities with her children and 

grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father.

Young is survived by one son, Dale Young and his wife Tammie, Enid; three 

daughters, Carrie Adams and her husband Warren, Jr., Lillian, Texas, 

Marsha Brown, Anthony, Kan., and Sarah Young, Helena; one sister, Evelyn 

Kindschi and her husband, Bud, Stillwater; two brothers, Bill Harshman 

and his wife Karlanne, Coyle, and Bob Harshman and his wife Louella, 

Stillwater; and 13 grandchildren, Deah, Brittany, Joshua, John, Talitha, 

Reba, and Dalton, Enid, Casey, Camee, and Lane, Lillian, Texas; and 

Matthew, Marcus and Kyra, Anthony, Kan.

Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
