Obit for Allen Neff

TRIBUTE PAID ALLEN NEFF  1933
Services held at home of daughter, Mrs. V.F. Johnson
 
Funeral of Allen Neff, 82, a resident of Ardmore for the last 12 years, 
who died Saturday, will be held this afternoon from the home of his 
daughter, Mrs. Vasco .F. Johnson, 902 West Broadway.
 
Joe Bishop, pastor of the Nazarene church, will conduct services, with 
burial to be made at Pruitt cemetery under the direction of the Bettes 
funeral home.
 
Active pall bearers are, Ben Wallace, George Rose, Robert Cole, Charlie 
Wilson, Claud Cross and Cecil Pitts.  The grandsons, Tom Allen Johnson, 
Ralph Speer, Lester Speer, Harold Speer, Hemer Cowan, Roy and Bill Story,
will act as honorary pall bearers.
 
Born at Logansport, Ind, November 15, 1851, Neff came to Oklahoma and was
 married to Miss Susan Henderson at Thackerville in 1883.  He is survived 
by 10 children.   Also 42 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
 
Surviving children:  The three sons and seven daughters, are George Neff, 
Ardmore;  W.N. Neff, Fort Lauco, Texas; J.W. Neff, Wilson, Mrs. V. F. Johnson,  
Mrs. C. T. Speer, Mrs, B.L. Cowan and Mrs. E. M. Story, all of Armore; Mrs Ora 
Hays, Oklahoma City and Mrs. S. G. Wilkinson and Mrs. Lafayett Gison, both of 
Kerrville, Texas    End.
 
Additonal information
On the 1910 Census, Allen Neff's age shown is 58, wife Susan 46, Katie 15, 
George 5, Ora 21, Cecil 4, Raymond 11/2.  also shows he was born in Illinois . 
And his father John Jack Neff as born in Ohio
 
Allen Neff is on the 1920 Census, living in McClain County, OK., Victor Tsp.  
listed as A. Neff. He lists his birth place as Indiana. He is a farmer, living 
with wife Susan and children, George, Mabel and widowed daugher Ora Belle and 
her three children.  He just lists his parents, John "Jack" Neff and Mary 
Magdalena Simons as born in "U.S."
 
Allen Neff, born Nov. 15, 1851 was previously married to Mary Elizabeth Stewart 
of Ardmore, OK.  They were married in early 1877.  Mary Elizabeth Stewart died 
from Childbirth complication in December 1877.  Their son, Jesse Wayne Neff, Sr. 
was raised by his grandparents, Harvey and Sarah Stewart of Ardmore, OK.
