Looking for info about DAVID HOFFMAN b. 1746. His 1st spouse was Susanna
Klein. Their children were JOHAN JACOB b. 1775; *DAVID b. 1776 and Elizabeth
b. 1778, all born in Frederick Co. MD.
My direct ancestor is DAVID and his son David b. 1776. I have traced this
David through Cumberland then Oakland then Friendsville MD and my family to
Marion Co. WV.
I received info showing a JACOB HOFFMAN in the 1820 Ohio, Tuscarawas Co.,
census. He is 45 years old at that time. If you substract 45 from 1820 you
get 1775. The same year as the above Johan Jacob. I had often wondered
where JOHAN JACOB and ELIZABETH went to. I think this might be the right
one. I know my parents went somewhere in Ohio to live with relatives before
us children were born. I never knew where in Ohio.
Is there anyone in Ohio who is researching the HOFFMAN surname? I would
appreciate hearing from you.
I have my HOFFMAN's back to 1774 when DAVID and SUSANNA KLEIN married in
Frederick Co. MD. I am trying to find the names of siblings of David
(b.1746) and his parents. Also trying to find where in Germany they came
from. I have hit a brick wall. I have to know something to find something.
:o) I don't know what ship he was on and it is so far back there isn't much
info. I thought if I could contact Jacob Hoffman's family, maybe they would
have more info. (ha)
This is my first letter to the Ohio list. Thanks for any help you can give
me.
Harriet HOFFMAN Toothman
