Testator: William Woods

In the name of God Amen.  I William Woods of the county
of Orange State of N. Carolina, being weak in body, but sound
in mind and memory. Calling to mind the mortality of the body
and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die
do this 25th day of September in the year of our Lord 1830
make and declare this my last will and testament in manner
following that is to say - - - first I give and commend my
soul to God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be decently
interred.  And with respect to the worldly estate with which
God has blessed me I demise and dispose of in the following
manner and form - - -

and first I will that all my just debts be paid out of
my goods and chattels

   I also will that my beloved wife Elenor during her life, have
and possess all my real and personal property except such as
shall be otherwise disposed of - -

I also will and bequeath to my daughter Anne one horse worth
fifty dollars and Saddle and bridle also two cows and calves
also two beds and furniture and bedsteads a spinning wheel
and at my wifes death one Negro man named Major - - -

   I also will and bequeath to my daughter Asenath one horse worth
fifty dollars and sadle & bridle also two cows & calves also
two beds & furniture with bedsteads and spinning wheel and
at my wifes death one Negro girl named Edney - and
my Loom with all the tacklings belonging to it.  As the joint
property of Anne & Asenath and to each of them one Bureau
one table with furniture and such kitchen furniture as my other
Daughters received - - - - -

It is also my will and desire that all my slaves be kept among
my children and at the death of my wife they with my Land
be divided into as many lotts that there will be a lott for each
of my children these lotts to be made and valued by disinterested
persons to be chosen by my executors and drawn for by ["each of" x-out]
["my children their heres of executors" x-out] my executors for each of my
my[sic] children their heirs or executors - and that each lott be made
equal in value out of my other property and should that be
insufficient those who receive lotts of the greatest value to pay
to those that receive lotts of less value untill all are equal
and that all my other property not already named be valued
with the above lotts or otherwise sold at public sale

and an equal division made among all my heirs ---

   It is also my will [that] David Dickey should have his board or
lodging provided or paid for one year from January 1st 1831
and that all Notes or money that may be on hand be kept at
interest untill the division is made among my heirs except so
much of it as my wife may need for her support - - -

   I also appoint and ordain my son John L Woods and my son
in Law Robert Redden to execute this my last will and
testament - - In witness whereof I set my hand and seal
on the Day and year above written - - - -

the oath Samuel Paisly and James Clark the Subscribing
Witnesses therein named and ordered to be Recorded At the same
time John L Woods and Robert Redden the Executors therein
named appeared in open Court and qualified accordingly

surviving him the following children, towit, Mary Crosset
who intermarried with William Crossett, Elizabeth Taylor
who intermarried with ______________ Decd. Martha
Allison who intermarried with Joseph Allison Margaret
Smith who intermarried with John Smith John S Woods
Acintha Linsey who intermarried with James Linsey
Anny Woods and Ellen Redding who  intermarried
with Robert Redding that of these children
all now survive except Martha, the wife of
Joseph Allison, who died before the widow
of the testator., leaving surviving her, her husband
Joseph Allison who has administered on her
Estate"
