Matthew - Runaway In Jail
Committed to the jail of Lawrence county, Mississippi, on the 25th ult., a Negro Man
who calls his name Matthew, and says he belongs to a Mr. Detroll, living near Baton
Rouge; he is about 45 years of age, 6 feet high. He says he was stolen from his
master by two white men. The men were apprehended with the negro, and are now
confined in the jail of this place. The owner is requested to comply with the law,
and take him away.    J. S. MILLER, Jailer. Monticello, March 25, 1820.
