Carl Torries, age 83, of Gulfport, died March 2, 2008 in Ridgeland, MS.

Peter Anthony Lestelle, 72, of Clermont Harbor, died March 2, 2008. He was 
born in New Orleans, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, August 
Lestelle and Mary Considine Lestelle, sister, Lucy Pembo, four brothers, 
August, Pascal, Joseph, & Francis Lestelle, and his adopted parents, Leonard 
V. Ladner & Marius C. Ladner. Private burial: St. Mary Cemetery, Bay St. Louis.

Mrs. Debra L. Noble, 53, of Biloxi, died March 2, 2008. 

Linda Tyler, 63, of Pass Christian, died March 2, 2008.
Col. John Hull Statts, USAF Ret., 89, of Gastonia, NC, died March 2, 2008. He 
was a native of Elmira, NY, and was the son of the late Albert Joseph and Mary 
Elizabeth Hull Statts. After a thirty year military career beginning in the 
Royal Canadian Air Force, he retired in ceremonies at Headquarters, Southern 
Communications Area (AFCS). He was presented the Meritorious Service Medal 
having served as South Comm's deputy chief of staff for flight facilities 
since July 1967. Colonel Statts began his military career in August, 1941, as 
one of many American members of the RCAF. Following Pearl Harbor he 
transferred to the U.S. Army and joined the aviation cadet program in 
September 1942. During WWII, he flew 70 B-26 missions over Europe. One of his 
most interesting assignments was as commander of the 17th Troop Carrier 
Squadron from 1962-66. The 17th flies the only ski-equipped C-130s in the Air 
Force and has a unique mission of supplying stations on the Arctic ice cap. 
Colonel Statts received many medals and decorations during his career 
including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Combat Air Medal. After 
retiring he acquired his Masters degree in History. Services: Arlington 
National Cemetery, Military Honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. 
Interment: Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. 

Lowell Willmon died March 2, 2008. He was sent to Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home 
in Hope, AR for services and burial.

Joseph Maurice Blais, age 85 of Gulfport, died March 3, 2008. Mr. Blais served 
in the Merchant Marines during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.

Lionel "Nellie" Creel, 90, of Biloxi died March 3, 2008. Lionel was the owner 
of Fisherman's Hangout, Back Bay, Biloxi. He was preceded in death by his 
wife, Margaret Oliver Creel, daughter Sandra Ann Creel, son, Baby Boy Creel, 
his parents, Roland J. Creel, Sr. and Helen Creel, a sister, Alvera Lawrence,

Charles Larry Dale, died March 3, 2008. He was born to John and Mildred Dale 
in Paris, TN on May 31, 1939.  Larry had a twenty-year career in the Air 
Force, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel with the Strategic Air 
Command. Burial: Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. 

Mrs. Maxine Olive Mitchell, 70, of St. Martin, died March 3, 2008. Mrs. 
Mitchell was born in Polk, Nebraska. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by 
her husband, John Mitchell; sister, Irene Avery, and a brother, Lester 
Marsden. Interment: Biloxi National Cemetery.

Linda "Ninnie" Ellen Tyler Smith, age 63, of Pass Christian, died March 3, 
2008. Mrs. Smith was born in McKinney, TX. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by 
her father, Sammy Lee Tyler; mother, Tina Marie Hall Tyler and a brother, 
Sammy Wayne Tyler. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Rotten Bayou.

Lt. Col. Frederick "Fred" Enster Barrett, Jr. (U.S. Army, Retired), 87, born 
in Worchester, Mass. June 10, 1920. Fred joined the United States Army and 
retired after 21 years of active duty. He served in 7 campaigns in Normandy, 
Northern France, Ardennes, Central Europe, Rhineland, and Korea where he 
earned 14 medals and 4 overseas bars including the silver star, the bronze 
star, and the Purple Heart. Fred's last assignment was Ft. Sam Houston in San 
Antonio, Texas. Interment: Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.

Ernest "Bones" Craig, age 75, of Kiln, died March 6, 2008. Mr. Craig served in 
United States Army during the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his 
parents, George and Josephine Craig; his sister, Josephine Craig; his brothers 
Joe and George Craig; his son, Ray Armstrong; and his son-in-law, Charles 
Birdwell. Interment: Wolf River Cemetery.

Charles Edward Koens, born to the late James Donaldson and Ella Ree (Koens) 
Averhart on December 19, 1941. Died March 7, 2008 at the age of 66. He was 
preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Minnie Pearl Tubbs, one brother, 
Thomas Averhart, and his life long companion Elnora McNair. Services at Main 
Street Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Norman A. Otto, 75, of Biloxi, died March 8, 2008, in Pasadena, TX. 
Serving in active duty with the Army National Guard, 115th Unit, AAA Gun 
Battalion, Battery C, during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was preceded in 
death by his parents, George and Rebecca Otto; a brother, Joseph Otto; and a

Mrs. Claudia Lorraine Hurston Gazzo, age 85, died March 9, 2008. A native of 
Tampa, FL. She was a World War II Navy Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy 
WAVES as a radio operator at the U.S. Naval Mine Warfare Test Station in 
Solomons, Md. She was the recipient of the American Campaign Medal and the 
World War II Victory Medal. Interment: Biloxi City Cemetery.

Dr. Ralph R. Goodman, 80,  of Waveland, died, March 10, 2008; born: Detroit, 
Michigan, served as an U.S. Army paratrooper during WWII. At the time of his 
death, Dr. Goodman was Research Professor at the Center for Marine Sciences at 
the University of Southern MS. A memorial service will be held at the Funeral 
Home. 

Patrick L. LeBlanc, born March 21, 1954, died in a plane crash in North

Mary Ellen Shiyou Montgomery, died March 12, 2008, born August 1, 1946 in 
Hancock County. Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel

Joseph Eley Templet died March 12, 2008, born September 2, 1928 in Biloxi to 
Della Ray and Joseph Templet, Sr. He served in the Air Force and the Navy. A 
memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Biloxi. Joe had 
made a decision to donate his body to the University of Mississippi Department 
of Anatomy.

Todd Earl Willard, age 47, of Pass Christian, died March 12, 2008 in 
Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mable Zambrowski.

married James Blevins in Lebanon, Ill June 12, 1950. She was preceded in death 
by her parents, Cora and Greenville Barrett and her younger brothers, Jack and

Pastor Lowry K. Anderson, age 56, of Gulfport. He was ordained into full time 
Gospel Ministry serving on the staff at Michael Memorial Baptist Church and in 
2003, he became the Senior Pastor at Belaire Baptist Church and served in that 
capacity until his death. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann E. 
Anderson. Interment: Finley Cemetery.

Mrs. Mercedes "Dee" James, 82, of Biloxi, died March 14, 2008. Burial: Biloxi 
City Cemetery.

Troy Hooks, Sr., 76 of Gulfport, died March 14, 2008. Mr. Hooks served in the 
U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Most knew him as the "Rail Road Man" 
selling his second hand wares on Railroad St. in Mississippi City. He was 
preceded in death by his beloved Mother and Father Kate and Mitchell L. Hooks, 
Sr.; Brothers Pat Mitchell, Bill Mitchell and Mitchel L. Mitchell, Jr.; 
sisters Jeanette Tillman and Dorothy Hillman. Interment: Floral Hills Cemetery.

Sybil Clarice Wong, 99, of Gulfport, died March 14, 2008. She was born in 
Guyana, South America, on July 8, 1908. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Reginald M. Wong, and her son, Gerald H. Wong. Memorial service: St.

Charles Iverson, 85,  of Gulfport, died March 14, 2008; born in Farmersville, 
LA on December 21, 1921. Serving his country in the United States Army. He is 
preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Wilson; his sisters, Mary Lee Norrie, 
Ulavee Norris and Doris Norris; and his brothers, Willie Norris, Bodock

M/Sgt. Ralph A. Moseley, USAF, Ret., 84, from Gulfport, died March 14, 2008. 
Mr. Moseley was preceded in death by his parents William Leonard Moseley and 
Fannie Waites Moseley; two Brothers and one sister; his son Ralph Moseley, 
Jr.; and previous wife Charlotte J. Moseley. Internment: Floral Hills

Marcelle Rita Vidacovich, 89, and formerly of Long Beach, died March 14, 2008 
at The Guest House in Baton Rouge, LA. Mrs. Vidacovich was born in New Orleans 
on October 14, 1918, later residing in Long Beach for most of her life until 
moving to Baton Rouge in October 2003. She was preceded in death by her 
father, Paul J. Vidacovich, Sr.; and mother, Wilhelmina Henderson Vidacovich.

the 288th Sapper Company of the Army National Guard. Interment: Biloxi

Bobby Joe Davis, age 61, of Gulfport, died March 15, 2008 in New Orleans, LA. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loy Davis and Christine S. Davis; and 
a brother-in-law, Dennis Bolton. Burial: Evergreen Gardens, Gulfport.

Mrs. Betty "Jean" Hall, 73, of Biloxi, died March 15, 2008. Mrs. Hall was born 
in Wayne County, MS.  Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents, John and 
Demmie Davis, and a brother, J. D. Davis. Interment: Biloxi National Cemetery.

Donald F. Hartl, 70, of Biloxi, died March 15, 2008. Born in Antigo, WI and 
was the son of Frank and Bernice Hartl of Sturgeon Bay, WI. He came to Biloxi, 
in 1970 on assignment to the CBC in Gulfport, MS where he later became Chief 
of Transportation. He retired in 1974 after 22 years in the Seabees. Private 
services: Biloxi National Cemetery. 

James William Kibby, 53, was born October 31, 1954, died March 15, 2008. He is 
preceded in death by 17 days by his wife, Theresa Kibby. Also preceding him in 
death is his son, William Louis Kibby; and his father, James Vencil Kibby. 
Services will be private.

Edith Phillips, age 88, of Gulfport, died March 15, 2008. She was preceded in 
death by her parents, Walter and Maude Heiderhoff; and her brothers and 
sisters.

Mr. Walt Bell, age 70, of Biloxi, died March 16, 2008. Born in Cumberland, MD. 
Serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in July 1983 from 
military service as a captain after 20 years. Mr. Bell was preceded in death 
by his parents, Marian and Walter Bell; a brother, David Bell; and a sister, 
Judy Bell. A celebration of his life will be held at the Funeral Home.

Patsy Ann Carroll, age 61, of Picayune, died March 16, 2008. She was preceded 
in death by her parents, Earl G. Hill and Emma Townsend Hill. Burial: New 
Palestine Cemetery 

Lolli Glimm died March 19, 2008, born September 2, 1927, in New Orleans, LA, 
daughter of the late Seymour Slade and Anna "Big Momma" Booker Slade Williams. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Glimm. Lolli grew up in 
Vancleave, MS. She was a member of Ocean Springs Friendship Club and the Red 
Hat Society. Burial: Southern Memorial Cemetery, Biloxi.

Armand Romain Curet, 52, a New Orleans native, was raised in Biloxi. He was 
preceded in death by his father, Leslie A. Curet, Sr., his mother, Marjorie L. 
Curet, and two siblings, Leslie A. Curet, Jr., brother, and Sandra Diane 
Lawrence Cobb, sister. Memorial Service: Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747

preceded in death by his parents, Frank Charles Koch II and Marion Haines Koch 
Jones and his adoptive parents, Robert and Dorothy Koch. Interment: Biloxi

born in Mineola, NY, daughter of Howard and Emma-Louise Calkin who preceded

his son, Jackie Joe Johnson, his parents, Carl and Lillie Johnson of Duncan,

Margaret Pavlov Kuluz, 95, died March 17, 2008, born July 1, 1912, in Biloxi. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent "Visco" Kuluz; her parents,

Frances "Flossie" Touchet; her brothers, George (Cecile) Pavlov and Frank

and sisters, Louella Donahue and Maude Lynch. Interment: Biloxi National

Gerald E. Gartman, Sr. age 72, died March 18, 2008, born in Saucier to the 
late James E. and Bessie Scarborough Gartman. He was preceded in death by his 
parents; sister, Trisha Ann Peterman; and an infant son. Burial: Rouse

Betty Pulver Grantham, of Hattiesburg, age 92 died March 18, 2008 at Alden 
Pointe. Mrs. Grantham was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 16, 1915. She was 
preceded in death by parents Louis and Ida Byrd Pulver; husband, V.L. (Jack) 
Grantham, Jr.; two sisters, Helen Bondy of Baltimore, Maryland and Evelyn 
Davis of Hollywood, Florida; son Steve W. Grantham, Sr. and daughter, Harriet

AL. Preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Locklear Brannon; Parents, Rosa Mae 
Kleu and Henry B. Kleu; Sister, Louise Brannon Cowan; Brother, Dolan Brannon.

Mrs. Sharron Esposito Fayard, 59, of Gulf Breeze, FL, died March 20, 2008, in

Ray Anthony "Tony" Graham, 48, of Moss Point, died March 20, 2008, at Singing 
River Hospital, following an industrial accident at Northrop Grumman on March 
12th. Born on July 15, 1959 in New Orleans, La., to the late Edward Ray and 

Joy Vernice Graham. He was a Quality Assurance Inspector for Northrop Grumman, 
and started at the shipyard on his 18th birthday. He was a cook in the Army 
National Guard (890 Company B) for 14-years. Funeral services will be held

Mrs. Arlene M. Krentz, age 76, of Long Beach, died March 20, 2008. Mrs. Krentz

Velma Jones Kruse, age 84, resident of Grand Rapids, MI, and former resident

Colonel Joe Page Peck, USAF Retired, 84, of Biloxi, died March 20, 2008. Born

Francis Eugene "Gene" Clark, 68, of Gulfport, died March 21, 2008. Gene was a 
native of Cullom, IL He served in the U.S. Army as a ranger in the 82nd 
Airborne. Gene was a professional parachutist and in 1972 was president of The 
Thunderbows, a precision parachuting organization. Interment: Biloxi National 
Cemetery. 

Jerry A. Dalgo, Sr., 81, died March 21, 2008, born Jan. 18, 1927. He joined 
the United States Merchant Marines at the age of 17 and served his country 16 
years, helping supply troops around the world. In 1976, he opened Crown Dodge 
Chrysler in Pascagoula, which he owned and operated with his wife, Mattie.  He 
was instrumental in securing the site for the Seaman's Memorial on the beach 
in Ocean Springs. Preceding him in death were his parents, Angelo Dalgo and 
Grace Canaan Dalgo of Biloxi. Interment: Crestlawn Memorial Park.

Adeline 'Bella' Fonte Fulton, age 86, of Biloxi, died on March 21, 2008. She 
was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Fonte; siblings: Dr. 
Salvatore Fonte, Florence Perez, Louis Fonte, Thomas Fonte, Sr., Rosemary

Steven B. Mosher, 55, of Biloxi, died March 21, 2008. Formerly of Buffalo, NY 
and Springfield, MA, Mr. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the 
Vietnam Conflict.  Mr. Mosher was preceded in death by his mother, Suzanne 
Clough Kerns, and father, A. Bradford Mosher. Memorial Service out of town at

William Ned Satchfield, age 83, of Milton, FL, formerly of Gulfport, MS, died

A. J. "Bubby" Wagner, Sr., age 82, of Biloxi, died March 22, 2008. He was 
preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Doris Ward Wagner. He was a veteran

recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and of the Purple Heart. He retired from 
the Biloxi Veterans Administration after 30 years of service. Interment:

Lt. Col. Arthur C. Michelini (U.S. Air Force Retired), 83, was born in 
Hillsboro, Ill, on March 6, 1925. He joined the United States Army Air Corps 
at the age of 17. He served in the Air Force for 23 years and his duty 
stations included Panama, Germany, France and numerous Air Force Bases 
throughout the United States. He was stationed twice at Keesler Air Force 
Base. Preceding him in death was his brother, Mike Michelini, his sisters, 
Pauline Berman, Irene Thomas, Mary Wentland and Lena Winchesky, all of 
Illinois. Also preceding him were his daughter-in-law Katherine Michelini and

Ethel Guilliot Nance, born September 13, 1925, of Biloxi went to be with her 
Lord on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 at age 82. She was preceded in death by 
her parents, Teles Fore Guilliot and Antoinette Guilliot; and siblings, 
Frederick Guilliot, Audrey Marie Guilliot Rasnake, and Edmund Joseph 'Tony'

Aurelie M. Ockman Hote, Tech. Sgrt. U.S. Army Corps Detachment 7th Army, 98, 
died March 24, 2008 in Stantonville, TN. She was born in Vacherie, LA & was a 
longtime resident of Waveland, MS before moving to Stantonville, TN in 
December 2007. In 1942 the Womens Army Corps was founded which is when she 
enlisted. She served in World War II in General Pattons Army. She was sent to 
Portland, ME where she was attached to the first aircraft fighter wing squad 
for 6 months then went overseas and sailed on the SS Queen Elizabeth which had 
been converted to a troop ship. Then she was transported to England and Paris 
and at that time envoked and became attached to air sea & land operations with 
George C. Patton 7th Army being fluent in French. She began doing message 
decoting of secret and confedential messages & documents which ended in 
Heidelberg Germany. In December 1945 she received an Honorable discharge and 
came home after the war. She was a member of the American Legion post #77 in 
Waveland, MS. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Hote, 
parents, Walter & Azelie Ockman, brothers,Robert, Walton, Wallace, & Milton 
Ockman & her sister, Mabel Brown. Interment: Lakeshore Cemetery, Lakeshore MS.

Howard Lee Hotard, age 82, of Pass Christian, died March 24, 2008. Mr. Hotard

Cleveland "Bud" Garcia, age 61, of Gulfport, died March 25, 2008. Bud was

MO, born on September 15, 1946, where he joined the U. S. Air Force. A Vietnam

Pickens, MS. Holly served her country as a flight nurse during WW II and was

James Forrest Fargason, Jr., 75, died March 28, 2008. Mr. Fargason, a native 
of Memphis, TN, had resided in Old Mandeville, LA for the past 25 years. While 
living in Gulfport, Mr. Fargason was elected President of the Gulfport Chamber 
of Commerce and assisted in founding the Harrison County Tourism Commission. 
Interment will be private. 

Guy Morrison "Binx" Walker, philosopher, historian, economist and inventor, 
died Friday night, March 28, 2008, in Ocean Springs, MS. He was born July 8, 
1923, the son of Merle Royse "Ole" Walker and Elinor Ritter Walker and the 
grandson of Guy Morrison Walker and Minnie Royse Walker and Halsted Ritter and 
Grace May Ritter. Because of his poor vision, he had to make great efforts 
during WWII to reach the European Theater where he waded ashore at Normandy 
Beach, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Paris. He 
carried a shrapnel wound after the war. Preceded in death by his parents, 
grandparents, his brother F.H. "Nibs" Walker and former wife Carolyn Missman 
Walker. A Memorial Service for Mr. Walker will be held at a later date in 
Greencastle, Indiana.

Danny E. Metcalf, age 64, of Gulfport, died March 29, 2008. He was preceded in 
death by his mother, Geneva Smith Barclay; his stepfather, Mack Barclay; and 
two brothers, Allen Barclay and Jerry Barclay. He served in the U.S. Army and 
was a decorated Vietnam veteran. 

Daris Pigott, age 78, of Gulfport, died March 29, 2008. He was preceded in 
death by his parents, Nancy Davis Pigott and James Pink Pigott; his brothers, 
Waldo, Maurice, and Darrell ; his sisters, Verdie and Wilda; and his 
granddaughter, Nancy Hollingsworth. He was raised in Picayune and served in 
Korea as a member of the Army National Guard. He and his family moved to 
Gulfport in 1956 where he was instrumental in establishing the first volunteer 
fire department and the Lion's Club of Orange Grove. Burial: Liberty Baptist

Percy Pierre Higginbotham, 89, died March 30, 2008 at Louisiana Extended Care 
Hospital in Lafayette. A native of Youngsville, a resident of Biloxi, MS. Mr. 
Higginbotham proudly served his country as a member of the Unites States 
Marines in WWII and the Pacific Theater and spent 10 years in Mississippi as a 
First Sergeant in the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, 
Nelson and Edna Delcambre Higginbotham; first wife, Marie Louise C. 
Higginbotham; one son, Randall Higginbotham; and two brothers, Curtis 
Higginbotham and Carey Higginbotham. Funeral services will be held at Mass of

Mr. John Lawrence Untershine, Jr., of Vancleave, and a longtime resident of 
Biloxi, died in Ocean Springs on March 30, 2008. He was born in Kenosha, WI on 
May 6, 1932. John served his country as an Airman First Class with the U.S. 
Air Force, having attended Keesler Electronic Schools in 1952, and was 
stationed at Mather AFB, CA from 1953-1956. Interment: Biloxi National

Jonathan Sheldon Wilson, 25 of Riceville, died  March 30, 2008 in Diamondhead. 
Born on March 29, 1983 in New Orleans, LA. He was a 2002 graduate of Harrison 
Central High School. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, 
John and Ruth Wilson; his maternal grandmother, Nona Lizana and two uncles, 
Kenneth Wilson and Phillip "Buzzy" Wilson. He is reunited again with his

Joe Mack Hancock, age 79, of Gulfport died March 31, 2008. Mr. Hancock proudly 
served his country in the United States Marines during World War II. Mr. 
Hancock is preceded in death by his parents Curtis D. Hancock, Sr. and Alice 
McMurphy Hancock; his brothers, C.D. Hancock, Jr. and Don Stark Hancock.
