Article title:  Death Claims Five Residents of Area

Thomas Hyatt

Thomas Hyatt, longtime resident of the Odessa Community,
died Sunday morning at the Moreland Hospital in Holden where he
had been a patient eight days.  He was 70 years olf.

Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the
Greenton Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Seabough officiating.
Burial was in the Greenton Cemetery.  Pall bearers were Charles
Elam, James Gamblin, Melvin Hyatt, Richard Lamb, William Lamb,
and George Brown.

Mr. Hyatt farmed in the Greenton community before his retire-
ment, when he moved to his home at 400 East Chestnut in Odessa.
He was born August 16, 1893, in the Greenton community.  His par-
ents were Epriam and Betty Page Hyatt.  He was married to Dora
Pearl Colvin, who died December 26, 1958.  On January 21, 1960, he
married Gladys Billings, who survives.

Mr. Hyatt was a member of the Greenton Baptist Church for many
years before transferring his membership to the Odessa Baptist
Church after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Colvin Hyatt,
Kansas City; Gordon Hyatt, Independence; and Lester Hyatt, Odessa;
a daughter, Mrs. Noel Campbell, Odessa; one step-son Donald
Billings, Kingsville; two step-daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lindsey,
Freeman; and Mrs. Ida Mae Gard, Kingsville; a brother, William
Hyatt, Kansas City; a sister, Mrs. Erye Null, Odessa, 22 grandchild-
ren and four great-grandchildren.
