Biographical Sketch of David C. Slusher, Lafayette County, Missouri

David C. Slusher.  Mr. Slusher is a native of this state, and county,
born April 7, 1838, upon the farm where he now resides.  His father,
Roland Slusher, is a native of Virginia, and came to Missouri in an
early day.  During the late war, Mr. Slusher remained at home, taking
care of his own and mother's family.  March 26, 1861, he was united
in marriage to Rachel Ann McCormack.  Five children were born to them,
viz.: John H., Roland F., Pearla May, Cora and Catherine.  During the
war Mr. Slusher's house, was frequented by bushwhackers, and upon one
occassion, they attacked a company of federal soldiers, within a short
distance of the house, and a young man named Wade Morton was killed.
Mr. Slusher and wife are members of the Baptist Church.  Postoffice,
Higginsville.
