I have just recently found a family I have been looking for, went to
Douglas Co. MO. I was wondering if any of the 5 daughters might have
married
there? Neseniah/Arsena Ooley born 1836, Zerilda Ooley born 1838, Syrenah
Ooley born 1839, Elizabeth Ooley born 1843, and Catherine Ooley born 1846.
These girls were the daughters of Hiram Ooley and Sarah/Sallie Deem Ooley
Davis. The girls might have married under the name Davis, their stepfather
was Drury Davis. I found a court record here in Owen Co. IN where this
family came from, saying Cyrenie Ooley heir of Hiram Ooley was in Douglas
Co. MO in 1867. Since I lost the family after 1850 census here, thought
maybe the entire bunch went to Douglas Co. MO and the girls later married
there...ANY INFO YOU COULD FIND WOULD BE SO WONDERFUL, THANK YOU VERY
MUCH!!!!!!

I am searching for any information about JOHN WILBUR CASTLEMAN. I was told
that there were several CASTLEMAN surnames in Dent County and surrounding
area. John Wilbur Castleman's daughter, Nora Ellen, is still living. She
is 97 years old and wants to know something about her father, especially
where and when he was born and died and any other information that might
be available. In 1899 John Wilbur Castleman married Clara Ellen Funderburg
(Funderburgh) in Doublas County. The marriage license stated that John
Wilbur Castleman was over 21, born in Missouri and that Clara Ellen
Funderburg
was 18 and born in Missouri. John Wilbur Castleman left Clara Ellen
Funderburg
Castleman prior to the birth of their first and only child, Nora Ellen,
who was born 18 June 1900. John wilbur was an itinerant laborer/carpenter,
who was older than his wife Clara Ellen Funderburg. They lived with Clara
Ellen's parents who were elderly. When John Wilbur Castleman decided to
move on, he wanted Clara Ellen to go with him, but she decided to stay
and care for her elderly parents. John Wilbur Castleman wrote one time
to inquire about the birth, but the wife Clara Ellen, never replied. Clara
Ellen Funderburg Casstleman decided to remarry about 7 or 8 years later
and at that time divorced John Wilbur Castleman. It is not known whether
he knew or did not know about the divorce. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.
Time may be running short for John Wilbur Castleman's daughter, Nora Ellen.
Thank you.

born Feb. 1835 Fayette Co., Ky. died 12 Dec. 1905 Douglas Co., Mo. married
to Mary Ann (Polly) MANNING 20 April 1854 Qzark Co., MO. Polly died Nov/Dec
1912 in Douglas Co. Joseph MANNING, brother of Polly was living with them
in Douglas Co. Falling Spring Census of 1860. In Civil War Pension records
a Olive (Ollie) DYER, and her husband Nelson DYER witnessed declaration.
Polly was 66 years old at the time. Ollie stated that she had known her
66 years, and Nelson 44 years. Ollie is, I believe probably Polly's sister.
Polly MANNING, according to census was born circa Aug. 1839 in Illinois.
Joseph MANNING was born circa 1832 in Ky. I do not know where Ollie
(possibly
MANNING) DYER was born or died. It is my understanding that James and Polly
are buried in "DYER" Cemetery. Is this on a DYER farm? James and Polly's
son William H. CAMERON was my grandfather. He married Nellie H. DUFF on
March 1, 1896 at Bryant, Douglas Co. Nellie DUFF was the daughter of
Leander
W. DUFF, and grand daughter of Andrew Wickizer DUFF, who with their wives
and children both resided in Douglas Co. before moving on to Crawford Co.,
Ks. The other children of James and Polly married into the HILL, GOFORTH,
MILLER, HORNING, STOUT, METLOCK and other (?) families of the area. I would
like to communicate and share info with any cousins and kin. I have

(Todds, Fields, Upshaws) were among the county pioneers, from the 1830s.
They shortsightedly failed to leave much evidence of their sojourn there,

families--preferably
those there before about 1880, and I don't track them after 1900.

SIZE=+1>BARNES - Searching for any bit
of information that can help me find the parents of Elijah BARNES. Elijah
and his wife Martha Belle HADDOCK are living in Douglas County Missouri
in 1900. Elijah was born 06-Aug-1852 Tennesse and died 06-Aug-1924 in
Topas,
Missouri Douglas Co. He is buried in Mount Ararat Cemetery. The first time
I found Elijah he was living with a Rebecca MILLS and her two son's in
Texas Co. MO 1870. Family History say's Elijah had a older sister named
Rebecca and they were both raised by an Uncle. Another story say's that
Elijah just took the name BARNES from the man who was raising him. I am
wondering if maybe his Rebecca may really be his mother. In 1870 she is
38 years old born in North Carolina and Elijah is only 16 years old. On
the 1900 census, Elijah list his parent's birth place as North Carolina.
I have not been able to find Elijah or Rebecca in 1860.
