Sylvia Brotherton

Sylvia Brotherton, age 80, of Carrollton, died 9 February 1995, at the Research
Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.

She was born 1 February 1915 in Carroll County, MO, the daughter of Levi Andrew
and Sara Catherine Wheeler.

She had worked in the kitchen at the State School.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

On 10 April 1934, she was married to Arlie Dean Brotherton in Carrollton, MO.
He survives at the home.

Other survivors include seven sons: Jimmy Dale Brotherton of Hortense, GA; Lawrence
Dean Brotherton of Carrollton, MO; Norman Ray Brotherton of Marshall, MO; David
Ellis Brotherton of Norborne, MO; Paul Ray Brotherton of Green Briar, AR; Phillip
Murray Brotherton of Carrollton, MO; Jerry Wayne Brotherton of Belton, MO; and seven
daughters: Arlene Rose Wools of Medicine Lodge, KS; Betty Jean Norris of Carrollton,
MO; Carlene Joyce Carter of Salem AR; Judy Ann Stanley of Cheyenne, WY; Sylvia June
Smity of Carrollton, MO; Paula Kay Parker of Brunswick, MO; and Loretta Sue Mohn of
Carrollton, MO; two sisters: Mytrle Christine Cowick and Dorothy Allen, both of 
Carrollton, MO, sixty grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Jean Albert and ten brothers and
sisters and on grandchild.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Monday 13 February 1995, at the Gibson-Rice Funeral
Home in Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Danny Lybarger. Burial will be in Little
Adkins Cemetery, east of Carrollton.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 pm, Sunday, at the Gibson-Rice Funeral Home in
Carrollton. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer society in memory
of Mrs. Brotherton.
