Mary M. Hall 
Mary M. Hall, 95, of Huron Township near Port Hope passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 
2002, at Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe following a short illness.  Born in Port Hope on 
Dec. 9, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Hilda (Hintz) Pochert.  She and 
Fred Hall were united in marriage in Port Hope on Jan. 20, 1926.  Mary was a member of 
St. John Lutheran Church in Port Hope and the Senior Citizens Club of Port Hope.  She is 
survived by her children, Clifford Hall of Port Hope, Virginia Thrushman and her 
husband, Leland, of Royal Oak, Eleanor Hall of Port Hope, Dolores Haist and her 
husband, Floyd, of Kinde, and Kenneth Hall of Port Hope; six grandchildren and seven 
great-grandchildren.  Mary was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin and Clarence 
Hall; a sister, Margaret Marquardt; two brothers, Frank and George Pochert.  Funeral 
services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor 
Beach with the Rev. Gregory Eilers, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. 
Burial will be in the New River Cemetery near Huron City.  Visitation will be today from 
1 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. 

Andrew McGlasson 
Andrew McGlasson, 90, of Port Sanilac, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in Autumnwood of 
Deckerville.  He was born Feb. 27, 1911 in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Robert and 
Jessie (Anderson) McGlasson.  He married Leona Lietke on Feb. 26, 1954 in Detroit.  He 
was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Selfridge Air National 
Guard Base as a civilian employee.  He is survived by his wife, Leona, of Port Sanilac; a 
nephew, Randy Wilke of Palms; two nieces, Mrs. Julie Siens of Minden City and Miss 
Jorene Breidenbach of the Philippines; a brother-in-law, Harold Litke and a sister-in-law, 
Mrs. Clara Wilke, both of Palms.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Helen 
Densmore.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in the Apsey 
Funeral Home in Deckerville. Pastor Richard Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in 
Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until 
the time of services on Monday at the funeral home. 

Delores K. Stacer 
Delores K. Stacer, 67, of Ruth died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in Port Huron Hospital.  She 
was born June 2, 1934 in Grand Rapids to Henry S. and Ema A. (Osborn) Nelson. She 
married Jerome M. Stacer on Feb. 15, 1972 in Lexington. He died Nov. 30, 1999.  
Delores graduated from Grand Ledge High School and Bronson Methodist Hospital in 
Kalamazoo where she received her registered nurse degree. She lived in various areas 
including Berrien Springs, Constantine, Lafayette, Lake Odessa, Marlette, Deckerville, 
and Ruth. Delores was named Sanilac County Citizen of the Year in 1987. She retired 
from Deckerville Community Hospital in 1993 after 30 years of nursing. She was a 
member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.  Delores is survived by her 
children, Donald M. Wright of Ostrander, Ohio, Thomas N. Wright of East Lansing, 
Anna M. Offutt and her husband, Brian, of Chambersburg, Penn., and Jeffrey J. Stacer of 
Grand Rapids; sisters-in-law, Lucille Stacer of Ruth and Cecelia Stacer of Bad Axe; 
brothers-in-law, Harold Stacer of Ruth and Merlin Stacer and his wife, Magdalene, of 
Ruth; many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul T. 
Nelson, and her first husband, Gene Wright.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., 
Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with the Rev. Steve Gavit of 
Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ruth officiating. Interment in is Bowne Cemetery, 
Bowne Township.  Visitation is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 
p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Deckerville Community 
Hospital Auxiliary or American Diabetes Association.

Larry Eady 
Larry W. Eady, 57, of Sand Point died Monday morning, Feb. 11, 2002, at Scheurer 
Hospital in Pigeon.  He was born Feb. 1, 1945, in Royal Oak to Virginia (Uhley) Eady 
and the late Leo Eady.  He married Mary K. Wiechert on July 17, 1965, in Royal Oak.  
Surviving are his wife, Mary; his daughter, Sheri Eady of Sand Point; a granddaughter, 
Emily Ann; his mother, Virginia Eady of Royal Oak; a sister, Sandra Snider of Royal 
Oak; and two brothers, Ellis Eady and his wife, Michelle, and Michael Eady and his wife, 
Karen, all of Florida.  He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn, in 1984.  A memorial 
service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at the Champagne Funeral 
Chapel in Caseville. The Rev. Michael Sawicki, pastor of Salem United Methodist 
Church in Pigeon will officiate with burial in Caseville Township Cemetery.  The family 
will receive friends after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given 
to the Caseville Food Pantry. 
Mildred Kohout 
Mrs. Mildred Bethea Kohout, 90, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Sunny Acres 
Nursing Center in Bad Axe.  She was born on July 9, 1911, in Greenville, S.C., to the late 
Byrd Jackson and Julia Mae (Herman) Bethea. She married Eugene A. Kohout on July 
14, 1934, in Miami, Fla. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1980.  She was a lifelong 
member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority International. She founded the Allapatta Garden 
Club of Miami, Fla., in 1952. She was the former co-owner of the Thrifty Feed Store in 
Miami for 40 years. She loved gardening and was an avid flower and orchid grower.  
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Burma J. Bukoski and her husband, John, of Ubly; 
one grandson, Robert C. Bukoski of Ann Arbor; two granddaughters, Danielle D. 
Vescolani and her husband, John, of Chicago, Ill., and Michelle L. Bukoski of 
Kalamazoo; three great-grandchildren, Annie, Isabella and Leo Vescolani of Chicago; 
four brothers, Bill, David, Maurice and Peter Bethea; and three sisters, Margaret Dunfee, 
Bernice Haynes and Helen Leonardy.  Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. 
Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the Kendall Chapel of the Stanfill Funeral Home of Miami. 
Burial will be in the Miami Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the 
Sleeper Public Library or the Huron County United Way.  Arrangements are being 
handled by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly.

Dorothy Farver 
Dorothy M. Farver, 88, lifelong resident of Elkton, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 12, 2002, 
at her home while under hospice care.  She was born Dec. 29, 1913, in Bad Axe to the 
late Edward and Leah (Mousseau) Furness.  On Jan. 24, 1931, she was united in marriage 
to Floyd L. Farver at the Methodist parsonage in Marlette. They made their home on a 
farm in Chandler Township north of Elkton. In addition to helping on the farm and 
raising her family, she was a cook at Elkton Elementary for more than 15 years, retiring 
in 1971.  She was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid, a 
past member of Century Oaks Golf Club and the Elkton Euchre Club. She enjoyed golf, 
cooking and baking for her family and had wintered in Florida for 20 years.  Surviving 
are her husband of 71 years, Floyd; three sons, Bruce Farver and his wife, Betsy, of 
Elkton, Ronald Farver and his wife, Marge, of Elkton, and Merlin Farver and his wife, 
Rose, of Bad Axe; two daughters, Sandra Carpenter and her husband, Art, of Holiday, 
Fla., and Margie Kanaski and her husband, John, of Elkton; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-
grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Stanford Furness and his wife, 
Bernice, of Elkton; and her sister-in-law, Hazel Furness of Arizona.  She was preceded in 
death by three brothers, Clifford, Roy and Burton Furness; and a sister, Jeanette Furness.  
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the Elkton United 
Methodist Church. The Rev. Pete Crawford, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside 
Cemetery in Elkton.  Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday 
at Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.  
Memorials may be given to Elkton United Methodist Church or Huron Memorial 
Hospice.

R.W. "Red" Thompson 
R.W. "Red" Thompson, 87, of Marshall, Texas died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in the 
Marshall Regional Medical Center.  He was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Elkton, son of David 
William and Anna Heck Thompson. He married Dovenna Conley on Jan. 23, 1942, in 
Hallsville, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1989.  He was an electrician for 
L.E. Meyers and was a member of the IBEW. He was of the Baptist faith.  He is survived 
by a son, Gerald Thompson and his wife, Valerie, of Grapevine, Texas; two daughters, 
Sue Ann Simmons and her husband, Philip, and Rita Kay Hays and her husband, Dick, 
all of Marshall, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kimberly and Michael Koelzer of 
Grapevine, Texas, Blaine and Amy Thompson of El Paso, Texas, Scott and Lori 
Simmons of Tyler, Texas, Sarah Simmons of Garland, Texas, Lori Wallin of Marshall, 
Angela Hays of Marshall, and Tara Frizell of Grapevine; five great-grandchildren, Cody 
McCullars, Kaley Pomeroy, Trey Wallin of Marshall, Allie Thompson and Ashley 
Thompson of El Paso; brothers, Ervin Thompson of Pigeon, Lawrence Thompson of 
Zephyrhills, Fla., and Bob Thompson of Temperance; sisters, Mary Hazard of Bad Axe, 
Ruth Gilbert of Owendale, Zelma Bauer of Souletown, and Bessie Champagne of Elkton; 
and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Juanita and Harley Segers of Marshall.  He was 
preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Henry Thompson; and a 
granddaughter, Sue Nell Hays.  Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 
15, 2002, at Hallsville Cemetery in Hallsville, Texas, under the direction of the Sullivan 
Funeral Home in Marshall, with the Rev. Ron Segers officiating. Pallbearers will be 
Bobby Hays, Johnny Hays, Howard Johnson, Matt McCullars, Robert Knight and Mike 
Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Blackburn and his C.B. friends.  
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the 100 East Stravis Street location of the 
Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall.  Memorials may be made to the Faye Taylor Stocks 
Memorial Cancer Fund, 308 W. Houston St., Marshall, TX 75670. 

Isadore Vahovick 
Mr. Isadore Vahovick, 80, of Rapson passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at his home.  
He was born May 13, 1921, in Argyle to the late John and Martha (Gwisdalla) Vahovick. 
He married Virginia Swartz on May 6, 1950, at St. Louis the King Catholic Church of 
Detroit. She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1989.  Isadore was a graduate of the 
Rapson Country School. He was a World War II veteran, serving overseas. He lived and 
worked in Detroit until he moved home in 1951. He farmed until 1981. He was the 
former owner of the Rapson Hardware Store, a milk hauler for MMPA, a truck driver for 
Earl C. Smith, and a maintenance painter for Active Industries, Inc., for five winters.  He 
was a member of the Bad Axe Knights of Columbus Council No. 1546 for 25 years and a 
member of the Rapson Sportsman Club. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church 
of Rapson and a former member of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph. He also was a 
member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed auction sales, casinos and visiting with family 
members and friends.  Isadore is survived by one son, Dennis Vahovick and his wife, 
Debra, of Bad Axe; one daughter, Elizabeth Williams and her husband, David, of Port 
Austin; seven grandchildren, Denise Austin and her husband, Thomas, of Bad Axe, Darla 
Vahovick of Bad Axe, Dennis John Vahovick of Filion, Derek Vahovick of Bad Axe, 
Ted, Terry and Virginia Williams of Port Austin; one brother, Ken Vahovick and his 
wife, Alice, of Warren; one half-brother, Harry Wieszbicki of Bad Axe; and a half-sister, 
Theresa Steshetz of Green Bay, Wisc.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin 
and Elmer Vahovick; and a half-brother, Bernard Wieszbicki.  The funeral mass will take 
place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. The 
Rev. John Weis, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring.  
There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m. this evening and a parish vigil 
service at 7 p.m. Friday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly.  Visitation will 
be 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. this evening, from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, and from 9 to 10 a.m. 
Saturday at the funeral home.

Anna E. Hoermann
Anna Eleanor Hoermann, 87, of Bay Port passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at her 
daughter's home following a long illness.  She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 18, 
1914, daughter of the late Thomas and Emma E. (Klein) Kelly. On Feb. 15, 1952, she 
was united in marriage to Floyd D. Hoermann in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on 
May 31, 1985.  Mrs. Hoermann was a homemaker throughout her lifetime, enjoying 
homemaking and her family and friends. She was a member of the Bay Port United 
Methodist Church as well as the United Methodist Women of the church.  She is survived 
by two children, LeRoy Eimers and his wife, Catherine, of Unionville and Catherine 
Wisenbaugh and her husband, Harlen, of Sebewaing; eight grandchildren; 12 great-
grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Alice Eimers of Bay Port; two brothers, Martin Kelly 
and his wife, Florence, of Pigeon and Frank Kelly and his wife, Pauline, of Bay Port; 
several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by a son, 
Ronald; and four brothers, Melvin, James, Fred and Charles.  Funeral services will be 
conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at the Bay Port United Methodist Church 
with the Rev. Douglas Leffler officiating. Cremation will follow.  Visitation will be 12:30 
to 9 p.m. today at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon, and from 11 a.m. 
until the time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.  Memorials may be made to 
Friends for Life Hospice or the Bay Port United Methodist Church.
