it was formed:

T. Smith and wife to Singleton and Mapes, No. 912

State of Louisiana Parish of Washington
The 10 of February 1834 be it Known and remembered that on this day we Tobias
Smith and Rebecca Smith do sell and deliver unto Robert Singleton and Thomas
Mapes all of the State and Parish aforesaid a certain tract or parcel of land
Containing Six hundred and Twenty five acres the said land lying in the Parish
aforesaid on the East prong of Big Creek, together with all the improvements
there on belonging consisting of Saw mill griss mill Cotton gin etc.  This
sale being made for and in consideration of the sum of fourteen hundred and
fifty dolalrs to be paid as follows.  Three hundred and Eighty-five in hand
paid the other balance in three promissory notes bearing date with this one
note due 3rd of March Next for three hundred and forty four dollars one for
the same amt. as above due 20th day of March and one for the same amt of three
hundred and forty four dollars due the 3rd day of March for the above Same.
We warrant and forever defend the right of said land from us our heirs and
administrators and for all persons whomsoever unto the aforesaid Singleton and
Mapes their heirs and assigns for ever.  In testimony whereof we hereunto Set
our hands the date first written.

Signed in the presence of Leroy F. Smith, John H. ROBERTSON
State of Louisiana Parish of Washington
Before me the undersigned Judge of Said Parish personally appeared Leroy F.
Smith witness and after being duly sworn declares an oath that he was present
day and date of the aforegoing sale - and saw the parties sign their names
thereto for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and further declares that
he saw John H. Robertson sign the same as subscribing witness with himself
Leroy F. Smith.
Sworn to and subscribed before me this 12th February AD 1834.  Benj.
