Felix Eloi Girard, Sr., was born 18 December 1869 in Lafayette, Louisiana,
the fifth child of Michel Eloi and Maxim (Crow) Girard.  He was educated
at Webb School, Bell Buckle, TN, LSU, and Tulane University, earning an
MD degree in 1893.  He was an EENT specialist studying in New Orleans, and
Vienna, Austria.  He was president of the Peoples State Bank of Lafayette, 
20 year member of the Lafayette city council, Mayor of Lafayette 1915 - 1919,
a leader iin efforts to briing deep water to Lafayette, organized Lafayette's
volunteer fire department, president of the Lafayette parish fair assn., chair
of committe for Lafayette's first brick high school, and helped bring telephone
service to Lafayette.  He married Mary Temple Fletcher in 1913, and had one 
child, a son.  He died in Lafayette from a stroke 2 May 1949, and is buried at 
the Lafayette Protestant Cemetery.
