NEW ORLEANS -- Funeral services for James J. "Jim" Abadie, 76, of Lake
Charles, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, in Schoen Jacob and Son Funeral
Home.
The body will be cremated.
Local visitation is 4-9 p.m. today, June 26, in Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary
will be recited at 8 p.m.
Visitation in the New Orleans funeral home will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, June 29,
with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
Mr. Abadie died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, in a local hospital.
He was a native of New Orleans and had lived in Lake Charles for two years. He
was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He retired in 1978 from Texaco as
an accountant after 36 years of service. While in New Orleans, he was a member
of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of Our
Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Mosca Abadie of Lake Charles; one
daughter, Jay Ann Loomis of New Orleans; and four grandchildren.
ADAMS, Harvey G. LCAP 6/29/1999
DEQUINCY -- Funeral services for Harvey Gene Adams, 74, will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, June 30, in Colonial Funeral Home.
The Rev. Ray Bourque will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. today.
Mr. Adams died Monday, June 28, 1999, in the Jennings hospital.
Survivors include one son, Michael Adams of Houston; one daughter, Judy Seilhan
of Jennings; one brother, Jerry Adams of Gladewater, Texas; three
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
ADAMS, Lawson O. Jr. LCAP 6/20/1999
DERIDDER -- Funeral arrangements for Lawson O. Adams Jr. 62, will be

died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a Lake Charles hospital.

WESTLAKE -- Funeral services for Arthur "Keke" Adams II, 41, will be at 2 p.m.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Monday.
Mr. Adams died Saturday, June 26, 1999, in a local hospital.
A native of Lake Charles, he lived in Westlake. He was a member of Calvary
Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Wayne Phelan Adams of Barnes Creek and James
Wyley Adams of Westlake; one sister, Jessica Mims Landry of Lake Charles; and
his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Howard Mims, both of Westlake.
ADAMS, Lawson O. Jr. LCAP 6/21/1999
DERIDDER -- Funeral services for Lawson O. Adams Jr., 62, of Pickering, will be
at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, in Beauregard Vernon Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, in Roselawn Memorial
Park in
Denton, Texas.
Visitation is 2-10 p.m. today, and from 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Adams died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, in a Lake Charles
hospital.
He was a native of Parker, Penn. He retired from the Army as an E-7 SFC. He was
a Vietnam veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He also retired from civil
service at Fort Polk.
Survivors include his wife, Yung Sook Adams; four sons, Lawson O. Adams III of
Denton, Williams L. and Bobby J. Adams, both of Pickering and Joseph A. Adams
of Citrus Heights, Calif.; two brothers, Clair A. Adams of Harrisville, Penn.
and Joseph R. Adams of Fairborn, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Louanne Stahl of
Mars, Penn., and Carrie Jane Conway and Mae Elizabeth McDonald, both of New
Castle, Penn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
ALLEN, Hugh N. LCAP 6/19/1999
Funeral services for Hugh N. Allen, 65, of Kinder, will be at 3 p.m. Monday,
June 21, in Johnson Funeral Home.
The Rev. E.J. McCann will officiate. Burial will be in Hebert Cemetery in
Hecker.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. Monday.
Mr. Allen died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, June 18, 1999, in a Lake Charles hospital.
He was a native of Crowley, lived in Baton Rouge for many years and lived in
Buller Settlement for 23 years. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School in
Baton Rouge. He was a Navy veteran of the Koran War, a retired PPG electrician
and a member of IBEW 861.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Fry Allen of Buller Settlement; two
daughters, Rose Luper of Denham Springs and Amy Attaway of Macon, Ga.; one son,
Aaron Allen of Pineville; and five grandchildren.
ALLEN, Eva Mae Dixon LCAP 6/13/1999
Funeral services for Eva Mae Dixon Allen, 80, of 2422 East Mill St. will be at
8 p.m. Monday, June 14, in Greater St. Mary Baptist Church.
The Rev. Samuel Tolbert Jr. will officiate. Burial will in Combre Memorial Park
under direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the church.
Mrs. Allen died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 1999, in a local hospital.
She was born in Eunice and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a
longtime member of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church where she was a deaconess
and member of the Senior Mission.
Survivors include three daughters, Eva M. Matthews, Bertha M. Poullard and
Marva A. Guidry, all of Lake Charles; four sons, Mose Allen Jr., Daniel L.
Allen, John Allen and Theo Allen, all of Lake Charles; seven brothers, Lawrence
Dixon of San Diego, Calif., Calvin Dixon of Los Angeles, Calif., Horace Dixon,
Melvin Dixon, George Dixon, Shelton Dixon and Richmond Dixon, all of Lake
Charles; one sister Bertha Whitt of Lake Charles; 45 grandchildren; and 32
great-grandchildren.
ALLEN, Johnny L. LCAP 6/1/1999
MCCLURE, Ohio -- Funeral services for Johnny L. "John" Allen, 68, of Lake
Charles, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, in Rodenberger Funeral Home.
The Rev. John Berger will officiate. Interment will be in Grelton Cemetery in
Grelton, Ohio.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Wednesday; and 2-9 p.m. Thursday, with a Fire
Department memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Allen died Sunday, May 30, 1999,
in his residence.
He was a native of Grelton. He was a member of the McClure Fire Dept. for 29
years. He was former Village Councilman and Mayor of McClure. He was a
member of the American Legion in Moss Bluff. He was employed as a truck
driver for Daigle Bros. Excavating and Construction.
Survivors include two sons, Tony and Robert Allen, both of McClure; one
daughter, Diana Allen of McClure; one brother, Dwight "Mick" Allen of
Cincin-nati, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. John (Rilla Kay) Beltz of Archbold, Ohio;
two
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Benevolence of the Family, c/o Rodenberger Funeral
Home, or to a charity of choice, the family said.

Cemetery.
Mrs. Arnold died Monday, June 21, 1999, in a West Monroe hospital.

Funeral services for Walter William Atkinson, 89, will be at 2 p.m. today,

Mr. Atkinson died Sunday, June 6, 1999, in a Baton Rouge care center.
A native of Hayes, he lived in Lake Charles most of his life before moving to
Baton Rouge four years ago. He retired from United Gas Co. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn L. Atkinson of Addis; one daughter, Mrs.
Carroll P. (Carolyn) Bourgeois of Addis; five grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Baker died Monday, June 28, 1999, in the DeRidder hospital.
A native of Oakdale, she lived most of her life in DeRidder. She was past
president of the Business and Professional Woman's Club in DeRidder, past matron
of Eastern Star in Kinder and memorial chairman for the Heart and Cancer Fund.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, John L. Baker of Austin, Texas; three
granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Ballou died Tuesday, June 1, 1999, in a Kinder care facility.

Mr. Barnes died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, in an Alexandria hospital.
A native of Rayville, he had lived most of his life in Merryville. He served
with the Marine Corp and was a disabled veteran.
Survivors include one brother, Nelson Barnes of Merryville; two sisters,
LaFaye Graham of DeRidder and Doris Barnes Snyder of Pensacola, Fla.; and his
mother, Eulah Barnes of Merryville.

was a former employee of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and Autozone.
Survivors include his wife, Erma Bellard; five daughters, Kimberly Yokum,
Shayla Bellard, Erica Joseph, Nicole Joseph and Amber Joseph, all of Lake
Charles; one son, Larry Bellard Jr.; two stepdaughters, Tanya Williams and
Danielle Joseph, both of Lake Charles; two stepsons, Johnson Joseph of Lake

A native of Dry Creek and a graduate of Dry Creek High School, she was a
housewife-homemaker and a member of Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse Church.
Survivors include two sons, Rickey Boggs of Dry Creek and Webster Boggs of
Sugartown; one daughter, Janice Rambin of DeRidder; one sister, Virginia
Bolton Irvin of Lake Charles; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Benoit died Thursday, June 3, 1999, in a local hospital.
A native and resident of Iowa, he had lived in New Iberia for 10 years and
Baton Rouge for 10 years. We worked 38 years for Shell Oil Co., retiring in
1977. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Laura M. LeBlanc Benoit of Iowa; one son, Frank
A. Benoit of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Dean B. Talbot of Iowa; two sisters,
Winnie Derouen of Houston and Leola Deville of Iowa; five grandchildren; and
nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Berry died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in the DeQuincy hospital.
A native of Yoakum, Texas, she had lived in DeQuincy for most of her life. She
was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma Smith of DeQuincy; two sons, James W.
Berry of Angleton, Texas, and John A. Berry of Gretna; one sister, Maudie
Starling of Highlands, Texas; two brothers, Russell Hayes of Eunice and Urshan
Hayes of Sulphur; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy,
the family said.

Mr. Boudreaux died at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1999, in a local care
facility.
A lifelong resident of Sulphur, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He
retired fro Olin Corp. as a diesel mechanic. He was a lifetime member of VFW
Post 2130 and a member of VFW Post 8107 of Sulphur. He was a former member of
the American Legion Post 179. He owned and operated Oday's Recording Studio
for many years in the Sulphur area.
Survivors include five sons, Larry Boudreaux of Lowenstuf, England, Jerry
Boudreaux of Sulphur, Gladwin Boudreaux of Alexandria, Robert Boudreaux of
Charlotte, N.C., and Louis Boudreaux of Grand Coulee, Wash.; two daughters,
Gladys Saloom and Melba Rozas, both of Lake Charles; one sister, Pearl Duhon
of Vidor, Texas; 23 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

Robert Boulet and Annie Bower, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, in Oakdale

She died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in her residence.

Singapore and Germany. He was a DAV member. He was employed with federal
civil service for 35 years and retired as a supervisor.

A native of Washington, La., she was the owner of Rosa's Hair Designs. She
was a former member of Old Emmanuel Baptist Church for 39 years, where she
served as youth director, Sunday school and BTU teacher, deaconess and choir
member.
She was a member of Throne of Grace Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Cynthia Henry Thomas and
Cheryl Henry, both of Lake Charles, Kathy Henry Leak of Fayetteville, N.C. and
Michelle Glover of Houston; three sons, John Henry Jr. of Dallas and Mark and

here for the past 10 years. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. In
Houston, he attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and St. Peter the
Apostle Catholic Church, where he served as a lector and cantor. He was
appointed facilitator of parish councils by the bishop of the Galveston/ Houston
Diocese. He was ordained a deacon on June 8, 1975, and served in a variety of
pastoral ministries for the next 13 years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart
of Mary Catholic Church and was appointed director of the Office of Black
Catholics by Lake Charles Bishop Jude Speyrer.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Conway St. Mary; one son, Harry St. Mary III
of Lake Charles; three daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Michel) Foster of Houston and

She was employed as a licensed vocational nurse at Rosewood Nursing Home. She
was a member of Sisters Surviving and Bosom Buddies cancer support groups and
was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin George Williams of Lake Charles; one
son, Randall Carl Williams Sr. of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Dana Alecia
Williams and Sandra Aniece Williams, both of Bell Flower, Calif.; three

Meritorious Unit Award, the American Defense Service Medal, the
Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, the Philippine Liberation
Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and one Service Stripe. He was a 32nd degree
Shrine Mason and a member of Scottish Rite and Lake Charles Masonic Lodge 165.
He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Westlake and was an ordained
Baptist Minister.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Cornelia Williamson of Lake Charles; three
sons, Loyd G. Williamson of Anchorage, Alaska, Noel W. Williamson of Lake
Charles and Paul Q. Williamson of Westlake; one daughter, Margaret A. Bass of
Moss Bluff; two sisters, Vivian Wilcox of Biloxi, Miss., and Creed of Dry

Dr. Wills died Wednesday, June 2, 1999.
A native of Dallas, he moved to Lake Charles in 1942. He graduated from Lake
Charles High School in 1951 and served in the Navy from 1955-1958. He
attended medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans from
1962-1966.
He was board certified in 1967. He was associated with the Beaumont Radiology
Group from 1966-1986., the Manske-Sheffield Radiology Group in Port Arthur,
Texas, from 1990 to 1993 and did locum tenens radiology from 1987-1990. and
again from 1993-1998. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots
Association, the Radiology Society of North America, Jefferson County Medical
Society, the Texas Radiological Society, the American College of Radiology and
the Texas Medical Association.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Phelps Wills of Beaumont; two sons, Dr.
Thomas Edward Wills of Baton Rouge and Douglas Eric Wills of Albuquerque,
N.M.; two brothers, C. Roy Wills of Groves, Texas, and Fred Marvin Wills of
