HOMER - Funeral services for the Rev. Clebum W. Quaid of Tempe, Ariz., will be
at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 13, in First United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Chris Andrews of Baton Rouge will officiate. Graveside services will be
at noon in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of RoseNeath Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. today in the church.
The Rev. Quaid died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, in Tempe, Ariz.
A third-generation Methodist minister and a graduate of Perkins School of
Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, he served the Louisiana
Methodist Conference for 48 years, 10 of which were at Simpson Methodist Church
from 1955-1964. A resident of Tempe since 1993 and active in many civic
organizations, he was a wildlife artist and member of Ducks Unlimited during his
retirement years.
Survivors are his wife, Jane Quaid of Westchester Care Center in Tempe; one son,
Dr. Thomas P. Quaid of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Diana Quaid Collins of Tempe;
one brother, Laron Quaid of Wynnewood, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church,
Cleburn W. Quaid Memorial Fund, 930 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, La. 70802.

    

QUEBEDEAUX,   Mrs. Jimmy  J.   LCAP   2/10/1997
LAKE ARTHUR -- Funeral services for Mrs. Jimmy J. (Enola Arceneaux) Quebedeaux,
66, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic
Church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Quebedeaux died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9,1997, in her daughter's
residence in Lake Arthur.

Sulphur- Funeral services for Laura B. Quebodeux 90, will be a 2 p.m. today ,
May 30, in Sulphur Maemorial Funeral Home. The Rev. George Repchick will

a.m. Mrs. Quebodeaux died widnesday, May 28, 1997, in Sulphur. A native of
Maurice, she was a longtime resident of Grand Chenier before moving to Sulphur.
survivors include one son, Lee Allen Quebodeaux of Grand Isle; one daughter,
Rose Darborro of Chopique; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and five
great-great-grandchildren.

Sulphur -- Funeral services for Lillian Marie "Kershaw"
Quebodeaux, 68, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 
in Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.  The Rev. Egidio Vecchio
will officiate.    Burial will be in Farquhar Cemetery. 
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. today, with a 
rosary at 7:30 p.m.; and from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Quebodeaux died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, in a Moss 
Bluff Care Center.
A native of Creole, she lived most of her life in the
Sulphur area. She was a member of Immaculate Conception 
Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Roger
Quebodeaux of Sulphur, Allen Quebodeaux of Houston, 
Texas, and James Ronald Quebodeaux of Hempstead, Texas; 
one daughter, Patricia "Sissy" Fontenot of Lake Charles;
three brothers, Mason Kershaw of Plano, Texas, Wilton
Kershaw of Deer Park, Texas, and Charles "Shorty" Kershaw
of Carlyss; three sisters, Vivian LaRocca of Lake Charles,
Eunice Myers of Sulphur, and Marie Wallace of Melbourne,
Ark.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.



QUILTY,   Virginia T.     LCAP   2/24/1997
RUSTON - Funeral services for Virginia Trussell Quilty, 83, mother of Mike
Quilty and Karen Quilty Baldwin, both of Lake Charles, will be at 2 p.m. today,
Feb. 24, in Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
The Rev. Homer Bailes will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in
Simsboro.
Mrs. Quilty died Saturday, Feb. 22,1997, in the Ruston hospital.
She was a retired teacher and a member of Antioch Methodist Church. She was a
member of the Lake Charles Junior League, Garden Club and Louisiana Tech Senior
Exercise Program.
Other survivors are one sister, Esta Pittard of Minden; four grandchildren and
one greatgranddaughter.
Memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, 901 South Vienna St.,
Ruston, La. 71270, the family said.


QUINN,  Gustave G.      LCAP    12/17/1997
Funeral services for Gustave Genin Quinn, 92, will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday, Dec. 18, from Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata
Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5-6 p.m. today, Dec. 17, with a 6 p.m. rosary,
in the funeral home.  Mr. Quinn died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.
16, 1997, in a local hospital.  A native of Natchez, Miss., he
was a resident of Lake Charles for more than 70 years. He was a
graduate of Warren Easton High School in New Orleans and
Louisiana State University with a degree in civil engineering.
He was a founding member of Dunn, Quinn, Gallaugher and Quinn,
Architects and Engineers -- designers of the Pioneer Building
(City Hall), Magnolia Life Building (Calcasieu Parish Building),
First Federal Savings and Loan Association buildings, the
original Memorial Hospital and many Southwest Louisiana area
schools. He was a founding board member of First Federal Savings
and Loan Association; a member of the American Society of Civil
Engineers; Louisiana Engineering Society; American Society of
Military Engineers; National Society of Professional Engineers;
Louisiana Registered Land  Surveyor; Chi Epsilon National Civil
Engineering Honor Society; Kappa Sigma Fraternity; and Appraisal
Institute with a Senior Real Estate Appraiser (SRA) designation.
He was the oldest Louisiana State Certified Residential
Appraiser. He was also a founding member of Quelqueshue
Syndicate;  Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, World
War II; a member of the Knights of Columbus and Immaculate
Conception Cathedral; and past president of Lake Charles Lions
Club, Pioneer Club and Lake Charles Country Club.  Survivors
include two daughters, Mrs. David I. (Cammie) Norwood of  Baton
Rouge and Mrs. Robert G. (Sarah) Jones of Lake Charles; one
sister, Mrs. Robert H. (Rosemary) Smith of Ormond Beach, Fla.; 14
grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.


RABALAIS, Adolph        LCAP   1/27/1997   
Gueydan - services for Adolph "Rob" Rabalais Jr., 67, will be at 2 p.m. today,
Jan. 27, in First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Gueydan Cemetery tinder

Mr. Rabalais died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, in the Crowley hospital.

grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grand-
children.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alvin T. (Lean Wilson) Raetzsch, 80, will be at 10:30
am Saturday June 7, in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steven M.
Spurlock will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park under direction
of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 pm today in the funeral home
and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Mrs. Raetzsch died Wednesday, June 4,
1997, in Austin, Texas. A native of.Alleyton, Texas, she attended Texas Lutheran
College in Seguin, Texas, and received a B.A. from University of Texas at
Austin.,She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Daughters of American
Revolution, Chi Omega Alumnae, Chi Omega Mothers Club, PPG Wives Club, PEO
Sisterhood and was active with Campfire Girls. Survivors include two sons, Dr.
Hugh Wilson Raetw.ch Sr. of Lake Charles and Alvin Thomas Raetzsch Jr. of
Columbus, Texas; two daughters, Susan Raetzsch Poulter of Salt Lake City, Utah,
and Nancy Raetzsch Donaldson of Austin, Texas; and nine grandchildren. Memorials

Sulphur Funeral services for Roy Ravia, 
83, will be at 3:30 p.m. today, Nov. 2, in 
Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. 
Richard Hoffpauir and Masonic Lodge 424 
will officiate.  Burial will be in Big Woods
Cemetery.  Visitation is from a 8:30 a.m.
Mr. Ravia died Friday, Oct. 31,1997, in a 
local hospital. A lifelong resident of 
Sulphur, he was a descendant of the pioneer, 
Ravia family in the Sulphur-Carlyss area. 
He graduated from Sulphur High School and 
worked as a worker in the Orange shipyard 
before entering e Army in 1943. He landed 
on Omaha Beach on D-Day and served in many 
of the major battles across Europe until the 
surrender in 1945.  In 1946, he and his 
wife started Ravia's Welding and Iron Works 
in Sulphur and operated it until their 
retirement in 1973. He was a charter member 
of American Legion Post 179, VFD Post 8107, 
Masonic Lodge 424 and the Shriners. Survivors 
include his wife, Lucille Simmons Ravia.
Memorials may be made to Henning Memorial 
Methodist Church, the family said.

Ray died Monday, May 19,1997, in her residence. A native of Morganza, she had
lived in DeQuincy for 42 years. She was a member of Pentecostal Church of
Dequincy and the Ladies Auxiliary of the DeQuincy VFW. Survivors
include her husband; one daughter, Susan A. Ray of Dry Creek; three brothers,
Clayton Solar of Baton Rouge, Clarence Solar of Lake Charles and Andrew Solar of
Morganza; and two sisters, Eva Nichols of Tunica and Beatrice Lemoine of
Morganza.

1941. He founded, co-owned and operated 
Rayon Wood Floors for 54 years. He was a
member of Our Lady of Good Counsel 
Catholic Church. Survivors include his 
wife, Lula Touchet Rayon; two sons, Larry 
Rayon of Lake Charles and John David 
Rayon of Bridgeport, Wash.; one daughter, 
Carol A. Rayon Daigle of Lake Charles; 
eight grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; 
and one great-great-granddaughter.

her life in Lake Charles. She was a charter member of University United
Methodist Church, a member ol the Alma Wynn Circle, and 2 charter member of VFW
Posi 2130 Auxiliary. Survivors include nieces.

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert (Linda M.) Reardon, 48, will be at 1 p.m.

be cremated.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m.  Mrs. Reardon died at 10:12 p.m. Monday, April
28,1997, in a
local hospital.  A native of Church Point, she had lived in Lake Charles for the
past 46 years.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Mike Reardon of Lafayette; three daughters,
Tracy Broussard and Tina and Ragen Reardon, all of Lake Charles; two brothers,
Donald Lavergme of Vidor, Texas, and Danny Lavergne of Dallas; two sisters,

Redburn died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, April 28,1997, in a Lake Charles hospital. A
native of Sandoval, Ill., he had lived in Westlake for a number of years. He
retired as a supervisor for OlinMathieson after 20 years. He was a member of
Westlake United Methodist Church and was a past member of the Louisiana Iris
Society. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Redburn; two sons, Jim Redburn of
Westlake and Jerry Redburn of Phoenix,  Arizona; one daughter Patty Redburn

She retired as a cook from Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, Texas, and was a

Alexandria of Orange; one brother, Robert Rhines of Deweyville, Texas; seven
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Reed died Saturday,.Jan. 4, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of Malleft, she lived in Washington for 45 years before moving to Lake
Charles in 1974. She was a member of Cathedral, of Faith Baptist Church, where
she was a member of the Sunday school department, Senior Mission, and was a
deaconess.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, Lawrence  and Benjamin Stevens, both of
Lake Charles; seven daughters, Willie Mae Freeman of Ville Platte, Mercy Lee
Guillory of Pine Prairie, Enola Stevens, Melvola Leviege and Joyce Marie
Broussard, all of Lake Charles, Jenella Burleigh of Beaumont, Texas, and Ellenor
Jackson of Ormond Beach, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Loretta Stevens of Ville
Platte; 47, grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and eight
great-great-grandchildren.

Librarianship.
She served as president of the Lake Charles Teachers Association,
president of the Louisiana Library Association, executive director of National
Library Week, Chapter councilor to the American Library Association, on the
Board of Regents of the Academic Task Force on University Libraries, on the
Library Development Committee and chaired the Modisette Awards Committee.
She was honored with the Louisiana Library Association Modisette Award and
the Essae M. Culver Distinguished Service Award.
After retiring she became involved in the Review Club of Lake
Charles, the Calcasieu Forum, the Lake Charles Symphony, Art Associates, the
Louisiana Choral Foundation and St. Patrick's Hospice Group. An elder of First
Presbyterian Church, she received a life member award in the Presbyterian Women,
served on the Christian Education Committee and was a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include several cousins.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Education
Fund, McNeese State University Foundation, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the
American Cancer Society or a charity of choice, the family said.
Henry Heights Elementary School will hold an open house at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday Sept. 9, in the school cafeteria.

for Harless Lumber Co. He was a member. of First Baptist Church of Gillis.
Survivors are his wife, Bertie Kelley Rich; one son, Tim Rich of Newnan, Ga.;
one daughter, Jeanny Trahan of Sulphur; two grandchildren; and four

assessor in Cameron Parish and  had been president of
the Louisiana Tax Association. One  of the founders of Cameron 
Insurance Agency, he was a cattleman and farmer and was a  member
of Our Lady Queen of  Heaven Catholic Church,  Cameron Lions
Club, Knights of  Columbus, Woodman of the World, American Legion
and  VFW.   Survivors include his wife,   Elizabeth 
Singletary Richard;   one brother, P.D. Richard of   Creole; and
one sister, Elma Hebert of Grand Lake.

of Colombus, Woodman of the World, American Lefgion and VFW. Survivors in clude
his wife, Elizabeth Singletary Richard; one brother, P D Richard of Creole; and

Lake Charles; one  stepdaughter, Abigail Johnson of Lake Charles;

Covington and attended LSU. He was a longtime employee of

Rouge; his  father and stepmother, Mr. and  Mrs. Michael Flynn

and Bridal Boutique, and had retired from South 
Central Bell Telephone Co. after 23 years of 
service. She attended Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal 
Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.

He was retired from the Port of Lake Charles after 25 years service. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Roberts; one son, Edward Perry Roberts of Westlake; two daughters, Tina Roberts of Lafayette and Delia Senisse of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Mallie Parrish of Tennessee; five grandchildren; are two great-grandchildren.

of Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today and from 
9 a.m-noon Monday in the funeral home and from 1 p.m. in the church. Mrs.
Robinson died Saturday, March 29,1997, in DeQuincy. A native of Lawrence 
County, Miss., and a resident of DeQuincy since 1921, she attended 
Mississippi Women's College and taught school in Forest. During World 
War II, she headed numerous war bond drives. She was a member of First 
Baptist Church where she was the oldest member and a Sunday school teacher 
over 50 years. She was a member and past matron of Eastern  Star, a member 
of the DeQuincy Garden Club, Dental Auxiliary, and civic affairs. She had 
worked in her husband's dental office. Survivors are one daughter, Fannie 
Sue Heard of DeQuincy; one grandchild; and one greatgrandchild. Memorials
may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or charity of choice, 
the family said.

Mr. Rodrigue died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, in a local hospital.
He had lived in Lake Charles all of his life before moving to Toledo
Bend three years ago. He was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist
Church in Lake Charles where he was chairman of the deacons. He was more
recently a member of Lakeside Baptist Church on Toledo Bend Lake. A retired
barber after 38 years, former co-owner of Rodrigues Barber Shop, and 1969
Louisiana Barber of the Year, he was a member of Barbers and Beauticians
International Union where he was a vice president and served on the laws
committee; Barbers Local Union 496, in which he had been a president. Barbers
and Beauticians Local Union 542, where he had been secretary/ treasurer; UFCW
International Union; and the Louisiana State Association of Barbers.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Ash Rodrigue; two sons, the Rev.
Michael A. Rodrigue of Moss Bluff and Mark A. Rodrigue, of Orange, Texas; one
daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Marsha) O'Bryan of Lake Charles; one brother, Jerry W.
Rodrigue of Lake Charles; two sisters, Mrs. Lurline Duplechain and
Mrs. Shirley Micelle, both of Lake Charles; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association,
the family said.

Mr. Roper died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 1997, in a Lake Charles hospital.
A native of Coushatta and a longtime resident of Lake Charles, he served in the
U.S. Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands. He was a registered
nurse, a bookkeeper, a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle and was
actively involved in many charitable activities.
Survivors are his wife, Emily B. Roper; two sons, Vernon Cuvillier of Moss Bluff
and Lyence "Jake" Cuvillier of Lake Charles; three daughters, Glady Newman of
Sweetlake, Pearl Kura of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Viola Fontenot of Lake
Charles; two brothers, Paul Roper of Houma and Shelby Roper of Baton Rouge; two
sisters, Ruth Pevy of Oil City and Ollie Bourg of Shreveport; 47 grandchildren;
and many great-grandchildren.

Ellisville, Miss., be had lived in Westlake since 1970 and was a retired cotton
farmer. Survivors includehis wife, Sadie Steverson Rose,, one son George M. Rose
of Westlake one stepson, Charles R. Smith of Farmerville; two stepdaaghters
Elsie Alford of Farmerville, and Gladys McFarland of Robstown Texas; 15
grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and four great greatgrandchildren.

church. Mrs. Rose died at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 1997, in a Lake
Charles hospital. A native of Fairdale, Texas, she was a graduate of Hemphill
(Texas) High School and received a B.S. and M.Ed. in education from Stephen F.
Austin University. She taught school in Fairdale, Hickory Hill, Temple Springs
and Jasper, Texas, She also taught school in DeRidder and Metairie. She was a
former coowner of City Welding and Machine Shop in DeRidder an a member of
First Baptis Church of DeRidder. She was past member of the Thursday Study Club
and past president the Ladies Auxiliary a Beauregard Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two daugh ters, Belinda Williams Green o DeRidder and Vickie
William Green of Destrehan; one step son, Jimmy Rose of Jasper Texas; two
sisters, Jean McDaniel of Kirbyville, Texas and Eulene Procella o Hemphill,
Texas; six grandchildren and three greatgrandchild.

Miss Rosfeld died Saturday, Sept. 6,1997, in her residence.
A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, she taught second grade in
Cameron and Grand Lake High School. She was a painter and musician and sang with
the Lake Charles Messiah Chorus. She attended McNeese State University and
graduated from Southern Nazarene University. She was a member of
Lakewood Bible Fellowship Church.
Survivors include one brother, John Rosfeld of Oklahoma City, Okla.;
and two sisters, Dorothy Helms of Lake Charles and Ruth Wittler of Hampton,
Ga.

Lake Charles.  A native of Oakdale, he had lived in the Westlake/Moss Bluff area
for 30 years.  He graduated from Longville High School Sowela Tech as a
machinist and with a B.S. in chemical engineering from McNeese State
University.  He retired from Conoco as a chemical engineer after 30 years of
service.  He was a member and past president of Woodman of the World Lodge 1 and
the Lake Charles Scottish Rite and Habibi Temple of Lake Charles, Shriners
Greeter Unit and Moss Bluff Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 242 and was a 32nd
Degree Mason in the Moss Bluff Lodge.  He was a member of Sam Houston High
School Atheltic Association, Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers International
Union/AFL-CIO, Calcasieu Local 4-500, where he served in various
positions.  He was member of the Baptist faith.  Survivors are his wife, Cheryl
Chapman Rougeou; two sons, Lewis C. "Rusty" Rougeou III of Lake Charles and Andy
Rougeou of New Orleans; one daughter, Robin Rougeou Shuler of Westlake; five
brothers, Kenneth Rougeou of Augusta, Ga.; Tim Rougeou of Westlake, David and
Henry Rougeou , both of Longville; two sisters, Sabra Benny of Ragley and Karen
Rougeou of Sulphur; his mother, Muriel Rougeou of Longville; and four
grandchildren.

the United States Achievement Award in Science and the Good Citizen Award, and was honored as Most Polite and Student of the Six  Weeks. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Dequincy and the church's Youth Choir. Raynella R. Ortego, Rachelle R. Marcantel of Oberlin, and Rhonda R. Rowe of

A native of Vidrine, she lived in Lake Charles since 1951.  She owned and
operated Mae's Beauty Shop for many years and was a member of St. Margaret
Catholic Church.
Survivors are her husband; one sone Darryl Mayeaux of Lake Charles; one
daughter, Barbara M. Launey of Sulphur; one stepson, Dan Rozas of Carencro; two
stepdaughters, Jackie Deshotel of Lake Charles and Bonnie Hicks of Leesville;
one sister, Flossie Guillory Manuel of Ville Platte; her mother, Rita Guillory
of Ville Platte; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Texas,   will be at 2 p.m. today,   April 3,   in First Baptist Church of Leesville. Burial will be in Leesville Cemetery under direction of BeauregardVernon Funeral Home. He died at 5 a.m. Monday,  
March 31,   1997,   in St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carice "Cappy" Donovan Ryan, 55, will
be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, from Our Lady Queen of Heaven
Catholic  Church.   The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeaux will officiate.
Burial will be in Consolata  Cemetery under direction of Johnson
Funeral Home.  Visitation is from 3:30 -10 p.m. today with a
rosary at 7 p.m.; and from 8 a.m. Tuesday.  Mrs. Ryan died
Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, in a local hospital.  She was a lifelong
resident of Lake Charles and a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven
Catholic Church.  Survivors include her husband, Henry Ryan; one
son, Jacob Ryan of  Lake Charles; one daughter, Renee Ryan Marsh
of Lake Charles; one brother, Pat Donovan of Lake Charles; two
sisters, Jerry Storts of Ardmore, Okla. and Susan Stanford of
Lake Charles; and three grandchildren.


RYDER,   Mrs. Hubert    LCAP    2/7/1997
Oberlin - Funeral services Mrs. Hubert (Doris Hebery) yder, 61, will be at 2
p.m. today, eb. 7, from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
The Rev. Joseph McGrath will officiate. Burial will be in the Oberlin Cemetery
under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
Visitation is until the time of service. A rosary was said Thursday.
Mrs. Ryder died Thursday, Feb. 6,1997, in her residence.
A lifelong resident of Oberlin, he was retired from the Allen Parish School
Board.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, Lee Roderick and Fred Ryder, both of
Oberlin; one daughter, Betty Ryder Barzar of Oberlin; one brother, Simon Hebert
of Oberlin; and seven grandchildren.
