Funeral services for Foster Thomas Iles, 77, of 1701 Fifth Street
will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 in Mount Tabor Missionary
Baptist Church.  The Rev. Albert London will officiate. Burial
will be in in Combre Memorial Park under direction of Fondel
Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from noon Saturday at the
church. Mr. Iles at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, in a December
hospital.  A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, he was a member
of the Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from
Bass and Harless Lumber Company after many years of service.
Survivors include five brothers, Melvin Iles Sr., Roosevelt Iles,
Mack Earl Iles, Henry Iles Jr. and Robert Iles, all of Lake
Charles; and two sisters, Lou Pearl Iles and Ophelia Iles, both
of Lake Charles.

Funeral arrangements for Thomas Iles, 76, will be announced by
Fondel Memorial Chapel. He died at 2 p.m. Tuesday in a local
hospital.


INGALLS,   Mrs. Orville L.     LCAP    1/26/1997
Funeral services for Mrs. Orville L. (Loretta Lee) Ingalls, 60, of  Westlake
will be at 10 a.m.Monday, Jan. 27, in Johnson Funeral Home.
The Rev. Glenn Beier will officiate. Burial will be in Westlake Memorial Park
Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2-10 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. Monday.
Mrs. Ingalls died at 8:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 1997, in a Lake Charles
hospital.
A native of Lake Charles and a graduate of LaGrange High School, she lived in
Morgan City for 17 years before moving back to the Lake Charles/ Westlake area
in 1981. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Jerry Wayne Ingalls of Ft Myers Fla.,
Charles Ivy Ingalls of Poteau, Okla.,and Joseph Lee Ingalls of Vinton; one
sister, Sherry Sanner of Sulphur, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ivy (Bertha) Lee
of Westlake; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Hospital Cancer Unit, the family said.

Mrs. Ireton died Monday Jan 27, 1997, in a local care center.
A native of Glemnora, she had lived in Houston for over 68 years. She was a
member of Park Memorial Baptist Church, a princess of Tabeel Temple 88, and
Daughter of the Nile, Magnolia Chapter of OES 706 for over 50 years.
Survivors are one great-niece, Jackie Kullerd Schuldes, and one great-nephew,
Tommie Kullerd, both of Lake Charles.

DeQuincy. A lifelong resident of DeQuincy,   she was a descendant of the founder

Department Store and she and her late husband operated the business for many
years. She was a
member of DeQuincy United Methodist Church and attended the Pentecostal Church
of DeQuincy and was the
recipient of DeQuincy Service Award. She was active in Campfire Girls,  
Boy Scouts,   and DeQuincy Band Booster Club,   was a cofounder of DeQuincy
Railroad Festival and the DeQuincy
Youth Group,   and had been a former member of DeQuincy Study Club.
Survivors are one son,   Rusty Irwin; three daughters,   Sondra Stark,   Sharon
Royer and Colleen Finder,   all of
DeQuincy; one brother,  Truman Nichols of Many; 11 grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren.

A native of Houston, he lived in DeQuincy for 78 years. He was a member of the
Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy and worked as a correctional officer at the
Louisiana Correctional Industrial School until his retirement in 1974.
Survivors are his wife, Katherine W. Isdale; three sons, Glynn Isdale of
Westlake, Charles Edwin Isdale of College Station, Texas, and William Paul
Isdale of Baytown, Texas; one daughter, Barbara I. Bankins of Westlake; 11
grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one
stepgreat-grandchild and three great-great- grandchildren.

residence. A native of Seminole, Okla., he lived in.the Maplewood/Sulphur area
since 1943. He attended the Oklahoma School for the Deaf and Louisiana School
for the Deaf in Baton Rouge. He was employed by Selfs Grocery in Maplewood, and
Kelly's Grocery and Augustine Grocery in Sulphur before he retired. He was a
member of Central Baptist Church m Sulphur. Survivors are three brothers, Carl
L. Ivey of Lake Charles, John C. Ivey of Willard, Mo., and Donald E. Ivey of
Edmond, Okla.

DEQUINCY - Funeral services for Amos Jackson Sr., 81, will be at 1
p.m Saturday, Sept. 6, in Evergreen Baptist Church.
The Rev. Willie Stevens Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in
Community Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 7-8 p.m. today in the church.
A native of Baton Rouge and a resident of DeQuincy most of his life,
he was retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad and was a member of Evergreen
Baptist Church and the Masonic Temple.
Survivors include three sons, Michael and Amos Jackson Jr., both of
DeQuincy, and Edward Jackson of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Joyce Caston
of DeQuincy; one stepson, Philip Carrier of DeQuincy; 15 grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.

SIKESTON, Mo. - Funeral services for Edna Freeman Jackson, 87, will be held at
10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Spence-Rauch Memorial Methodist Church.
Burial will be in the Garden of Memories, Sikeston, Mo. under the direction of
Nunnelee Funeral Home. Local arrangements are under the direction of Hixson
Funeral Home.
Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. in Hixson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson died Friday,
February 21, 1997, in a Lake Charles care center.
A native and resident of Blytheville, Ark. for 13 years, she lived in Morehouse,
Mo. where she and her husband were associated with the Wayside Gin and
Plantation until his death in 1962.  She ran the jackson Bros.
Hardware store for a few years and later worked simultaneously as a receptionist
and cashier for the Brown's Two Tony's Restaurant in Sikeston, Mo. and as a
third-shift nursing aide at the Sikeston Delta Community Hospital. She
was a long time member of the Spence-Rauch Memorial Methodist Church, an active
member of the Eastern Star Lodge and did charity work and community service. She
moved to Lake Charles in 1990.
She is survived by three children, Thames F. Jackson Jr. of San Antonio, Texas,
Dan C. Jackson of Greeneville, Tenn., and Mrs. Garry (JoAnn) Todd of Sulphur;
nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

School of Medicine. She was a secretary for Dresser Industries in
Dallas for more than 25 years before her retirement. 
She was also a member of the Methodist Church and a former vice
president and member of the McNeese Alumni Association.
Survivors include two half-brothers, Arthur P. Mitchell of New
Orleans and Noland A. Mitchell of Lake Charles; and her mother
and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Anne B. Metzger) Mitchell of
Lake Charles.

S.C., he served with the Eighth Army Air  Corps, European 
Theatre of Operations, primarily in England from  1942-45. 
From 1953-1962 he was assigned to the U.S. Air Force's
Office of Special Investigations (OSI) in Dayton, Ohio. 
He served in  Europe from 1953-1955, in Washington, D.C. 
from 1955-58 and from 1958-1962 was deputy director of 
OSI and commander of the 1005  Special Investigations 
Group. He retired from the Air Force as a  colonel. During 
his military career he was awarded the Legion of Merit,
Bronze Star, Commendation Medal and French Croix DeGuerre 
with Palm.  He was a graduate of LSU's law school where 
he served as chief justice of LSU's Honor Court in 1935. 
He was a member of DKE fraternity and was elected national
student president of DKE in 1934. A retired attorney for 
Powell Lumber Company, he was president of the Lake Charles
Chamber of Commerce in 1972, a member and past president 
of the Downtown Rotary Club, past district governor of
Rotary International District 620, a member of the Krewe 
of  Contraband and the Pioneer Club and a member and past 
senior warden of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dee Tannehill of Lake 
Charles; one son, Rev. Roberts P. Johnson III of Birmingham,
Ala.; one sister, Beulah Wagner of Cody, Wyo.; and two 
grandchildren.  Memorials may be made to the charity of choice,

Mr. Jones at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, in the DeRidder
Hospital.
A native of Longville, he was an Army veteran of World War 11 and
worked as an engineer technician with the Department of the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Jones; two daughters, Nelda
Jones of DeRidder and Karla Guzzino of Lake Charles; one sister, Minnie
Nugent of DeRidder; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Jones died Monday, Feb. 24,1997, in Alexandria.
A graduate of Natchitoches High School, he attended Northwestern University.  He
had retired as an accountant with R.A.  Campbell Oil Co. And was a member of
First Baptist Church of Harrisonburg.
Additional survivors are his wife, Nola B. Jones; one sister, Lynn Oaks of Baton
Rouge; and four grandchildren.

1997. A native of Oklahoma and a longtime resident of Lake Charles, he lived in
Baton Rouge. After 15 years with Pure Oil Company, he founded Jones oilfield
Service Inc. in 1945. Retiring  and moving to Baton Rouge in 1983, he was a
longtime member and elder of the Presbyterian Church, a 32nd degree Mason and
Shriner. Survivors are his wife, Mary Emily Sisemore Jones; one son, Jasper Owen
Jones of Lake Charles; one daughter, Peg Jones Carter of Dallas, Texas; one
brother, Kindred D. Jones Santa Ana, Calif.; one sister, Trula Jones Wright of
Kingsville, Texas; six grandchildren: seven great-grandchildren, and one
great-great-grandchild.

Wednesday, April 16, 1997, in a local hospital. A native of Natchitoches, had
lived in Lake Charles since 1940 and was a Coast Guard veteran of World War 11.
He retired as supervisor of the Book Depository at Calcasieu Parish School Board
and worked for Cit-Con Petroleum for many years. He was a member of Fourth
Avenue Church of God. 
Survivors are his Lorene Fontenot Jones; three daughters, Rita Ainsworth Oak
Grove, Diane Graves of Lake Charles Derenda Keating of  Jennings; four brothers,
Robert L. and Curtis Jones, both of Moss Bluff, Ben F. Jones of Negrett and
Charles W. Jones of Caney, Texas; two sisters, Jackie Billups and Sylvia
Fontenot, both of Lake Charles, five grandchildren, and one
