Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday for W. M. Copley of Fort Gay, W.VA and a 
former resident of Zelda, who died Monday morning, March 20 at his home on Green 
Creek, in Wayne County, W.VA after a lengthy illness. He was 88.
The rites were conducted from the Green Brier Baptist Church on RT 37, with the 
Rev. Carmi Crabtree officiating, assisted by the pastor of the Green Brier 
Church. Burial followed in the Bartram Cemetery under the direction of the 
Curtright Funeral Home.
Mr. Copley was born at Fort Gay, W.Va October 18, 1861, the son of the late Ira 
and Margaret Farris Copley. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Copley, to whom he was 
married 47 years ago. He was a member of the Evangelist Missionary Baptist 
Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Florence Morrow, 
Portsmouth, Ohio, Mrs. Guy Thompson of Huntington, W VA and Miss Goldie Copley 
at home. Six sons: Ira, and Ben Copley, Buchanan, Dock Copley of Rush, and 
Herman and Spurgon Copley of Rittman, Ohio
