Andrew Christopher MCINVALE Funeral services for Mr.
Andrew Christopher McInvale, 27, of New Orleans, were
held Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Lake Lawn metairie
Funeral Home. Burial followed at Metairie Cemetery in
New Orleans. Mr. McInvale died Monday, March 25, 2002
from injuries suffered in a traffic accident. Lake
Lawn Metairie Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. Mr. McInvale was born in Warren, Ohio
and lived in New Orleans for the past 10 years. He
graduated from Isidore Newman School, from Vanderbilt
University with honors and was a doctoral student at
Tulane Medical School in Slidell. He was a member of
the University of New Orleans Guitar Quartet and the
Society for Neuroscience. He received the Individual
National Research Service Award from the National
Institute of Health, twice won the Jean Yocum Harlan
Prize for research by a Tulaire Neuroscience student,
won the student research prize from Sigma Xi, a
worldwide scientific honor society, and won student
awards from the Association for Research in
Otolaryngology and the Society for Neuroscience.
Survivors include his father, Gerald McInvale;
mother, Patricia Haney McInvale both of New orleans;
grandmother, Mrs. Emory (sara) Heath of Thomaston;
aunts and uncles, Mr. Dennis (Peggy) Presley of
Newnan, Mr. Rudy (Vicki) Rozier of Thomaston, Mr.
Tommy (Cindy) McInvale of Thomaston; grandparents,
the late, Mr. Robert Frank Haney, and Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis D. McInvale. 


Kemple Piper PITTMAN Funeral services for Mrs. Kemple
Piper Pittman, 73, of 5th Avenue, were held Saturday,
March 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Pasley-Fletcher
Chapel. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Mrs. Pittman died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Upson
Regional Medical Center. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Pittman was a
native of Dodge County, Ga., and a resident of Upson
County since 1946. She was a retired twister and card
room worker from the Martha Mills Division of the
B..F Goodrich Company and was a member of the
Thomaston Church of God. mr. and Mrs. Pittman had
been married for 55 years. Survivors include her
husband, Mr. Jessie F. Pittman of Thomaston; daughter
and son-in-law, Mrs. Doris P. (Donald) Thomas of
Thomaston; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. Kenneth
(Delorese) Pittman of Havana, Fla.; sisters, Mrs.
Sybil Bryan, Mrs. Alma Newman both of Hawkinsville,
Mrs. Evelyn Hamlin of Fayetteville, Mrs. Gloria Smith
of Eastman and Mrs. Willene Brack of Thomaston;
brothers, Mr. Lanier Piper of Eastman, Mr. Bonnie
Piper of Thomaston, Mr. Otis Clinton Piper of Augusta
and Mr. Melton Piper and Mr. Dempsey Piper both of
Eastman; four grandchildren and three great-

services for Mrs. Lizzie Hollis Woumum, 94, of Butler
Street in the Lincoln Park Community, were held on
Monday, April 1, 2002 at 12 noon, from the Pleasant
Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Henry
Gardner officiating. Burial followed in the church
cemetery. Mrs. Woumum died Thursday, March 28, 2002.
Bentleys and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs.
Willie Lee Walker, two sons, Mr. Walter (Virginia)
Woumum of Atlanta and Mr. Robert (Frances) Woumum of
Boston, Mass.; brothers, Mr. Ernest (Dollie) Hollis
and Mr. Wiley (Eddie Mae) Hollis, both of Thomaston;
sisters, Mrs. Ola Mae Searcy and Mrs. Alice
Middlebrooks, both of Thomaston; three generations of
grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and
other relatives who will miss her. 


Joel Leonard EPPINGER Graveside services for Mr. Joel
Leonard Eppinger, 34, of Molena, will be held on
Tuesday, April 2, 2002 in the Mt. Olive Baptist
Church Cemetery in Molena with the Rev. Fred Blackmon
officiating. Mr. Eppinger died Thursday, March 28,
2002. Bentleys and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of
the arrangements. Survivors include his mother, Mrs.
Shirley Eppinger of Molena; his father, Mr. Joseph
Hughley of Atlanta; two brothers, Mr. Donell Eppinger
and Mr. Darnell Eppinger, both of Atlanta; several
aunts and uncles; and a host of other relatives who
will miss him. 


Pauline Johnson Heath KENT Funeral services for Mrs.
Pauline Johnson Heath Kent, 87, of East County Road,
will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at
the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev.
Joey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in South
View Cemetery. Mrs. Kent died Sunday, March 31, 2002
at Providence Health Care. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kent was a
native of Upson County. She had been employed by
Rich's Department Store in the interior design
department, and during World War II she worked at
Lockheed as an aircraft riveter. Mrs. Kent was a
member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. Survivors
include her sister, Mrs. Maudell J. Lowry of
Thomaston; a brother, Mr. Odell Johnson of
Milledgeville; several nieces and nephews; serval
great-nieces and nephews and several great-great
nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to East Thomaston Baptist
Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Inez BURKETT, 73,
of Avenue F, were held Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 2
p.m. at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with
Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Burial followed in
Crystal Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Burkett died Sunday,
March 31, 2002 at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Coggins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burkett was a life-long resident of Upson
County. She had worked for 20 years at B.F. Goodrich
and then as a homemaker. Mrs. Burkett was a member of
Valley Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her
son, Mr. Melvin (Carol) Denham; a brother, Mr. Earl
Reeves; grandsons, Mr. Christopher Denham and Mr.
Chad Denham all of Thomaston. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Akins ENGLISH, 78, of
Zebulon, were held Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at 2 p.m.
at the Chapel of Moody Funeral Home, with Dr. Ted
Moody officiating. Burial followed in Milner Baptist
Church Cemetery. Mrs. English died Sunday, March 31,
2002 at her residence after a courageous battle with
cancer, she was surrounded by her family on Easter
Sunday. Moody Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. Mrs. English was born Aug. 10, 1923, in
the Akins District of Spalding County, the daughter
of Seaborn Lumpkin Akins and Sallie Belle Willis
Akins. She was a devout Christian, she cherished her
membership at Rehoboth Baptist Church which she
joined at age 16. Mrs. English graduated from
Spalding High School in 1940 and from kaigler's
Business College in Macon the same year. Recognized
as a skilled genealogist, she completed extensive
research of her own family history as well as that of
others. As an area historian, she was a major
contributor to the History of Pike County published
in 1989. In addition, she wrote many articles for the
Pike County Journal as well as numerous poems. A
talented and knowledgeable naturalist, she spent many
enjoyable hours tending her flower gardens and her
many house plants. Concerned for the survival of
local birds and butterflies, she studied their
patterns, food sources, and habitats and passed this
knowledge on to her daughters and others. She
contributed to the local butterfly population by
carefully raising and releasing many butterflies of
several varieties over a period of decades. Devoted
to her extended family, she happily spent a great
deal of time and effort visiting family members and
planning and preparing for the annual Akins-Willis
Family Reunion. Mrs. English was a secretary and
stenographer by profession, she had worked for
Firestone and for Aldora Mills where she was
secretary to the plant manager. She chose to leave
the work world to become a full time homemaker,
devoted wife, and mother. She was preceded in death
by four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include
her husband of 52 years, Mr. Millard F. English; two
daughters, Patricia Dianne English Wagner and son-in-
law, Thomas M. Wagner of Douglasville, Linda Sue
English Brown and fiance Brad S. Ohlson, of Zebulon;
seven grandchildren, Laura Dianne Wagner, karen
Elaine Wagner, Susan Elizabeth Wagner, all of
Douglasville, Johnnie Mitchel (Roxanne) Waddle, Jr.
of Hortense, Jayson Lee (Maurita) Waddle of
Thomaston, Thomas nathaniel Parker of barnesville and
Christopher Shane Parker of brunswick; seven great-
grandchildren, Justin Tyler Waddle, twins, Sapphire
Renae and Jasmine Shae Waddle, Preston Jeremiah and
Bryan Todd Anderson, Jacob Lee Waddle and Katherine
Nicole Waddle; three brothers, Rufus Gillian Akins,
Herbert Barron Akins, Albert Allen Akins, all of
Griffin; two sisters, Martha Alice Sauls of Beaufort,
S.C. and Virginia Carolyn Bunn of Griffin. In
addition, she was a beloved aunt to 35 nieces and
nephews, some of whom she helped raise, and more than
50 great nieces and nephews. 



Funeral services for Mrs. Kemple Piper PITTMAN, 73,
of 5th Avenue, were held Saturday, March 30, 2002 at
2 p.m. in the Pasley-Fletcher Chapel with Rev. Edward
Rigby officiating. Burial will follow in Southview
Cemetery. Mrs. Pittman died Thursday, March 28, 2002
at Upson Regional Medical Center. Pasley-Fletcher

Funeral services for Mr. Bentley Lamar HELMS, 64, of
Milton, will be held Thursday, April 4, 2002 at 11:30
a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. Ira
Luker and Dr. Willy Rice officiating. Burial will
follow in Barrancas National Cemetery with Military
Honors. Mr. Helms died Monday, April 1, 2002. Faith
Chapel Funeral Home, of Pensacola, Fla. is in charge
of arrangements. Mr. Bentley joined the U.S. Navy in
1956 and served 20 years, retiring in 1976. He served
on numerous naval ships and stations. He met his
wife, Lilly, while stationed at Whiting Field. He was
a gifted musician and played Bluegrass mandolin for
Wolf Creek Bluegrass as well as Blackwater Bluegrass.
He met musicians such as Jim and Jessie, The Virginia
Boys, The Osborne Brothers and Bill Monroe. He
enjoyed playing and singing Bluegrass Gospel music,
anytime and anywhere. Bentley was instrumental in
helping to form the first Volunteer Fire Department
in Range, Alabama where he served as Chief. Survivors
include his wife, Lilly Jenkins Helms; brothers,
Curtis Helms of Thomaston, Milton 'Spunk' (Maggie)
Helms of Thomaston, Jack (Janelle) Helms of
Pensacola; sister, Runell ( Harold) Hardage of
Thomaston; a host of Bluegrass families. The family
will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday,
April 3 at Faith Chapel.

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Ruth Ellerbee
GOODMAN, 87, of Hendricks Church Road, will be held
Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of
Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home, with Rev. John Aulds
officiating. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill
Cemetery. Mrs. Goodman died Thursday, April 4, 2002
at Providence Health Care. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Goodman was a
native of Upson County. She retired from the
Bleachery Division of Thomaston Mills and was a
member of Hebron Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Kathy (Jimmy)
Jones of Molena and Mrs. LaFaye (Paul) McGinty of
Griffin; sister, Mrs. Frances Helms of Thomaston;
brother, Mr. Alton Ellerbee of Thomaston;
granddaughters, Christi Peterman of Griffin and Kayla
Jones of Thomaston; grandsons, Gregg Peterman of
Chesapeake, Va. and Todd Jones of Molena; and eight
great-grandchildren. 


Funeral services for Mrs. Betty MAHONE, 69, of
Woodbury, will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 2
p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Woodbury, with
Pastor J.D. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in
Walker Memory Gardens. Mrs. MaHone died Monday, April
1, 2002 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in

charge of arrangements. Survivors include her five
children, Ms. Patricia MaHone, Ms. Donna Jackson,
Mrs. Glendell (Mario) Gamble, Mr. Lorenzo MaHone all

sisters, Mrs. Mammie Flowers of Haines City, Fla and
Mrs. Jeanette (William) Sutton of Woodbury; a

of Childrees Road, were held Sunday, April 7, 2002 at
2 p.m. at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with
Rev. Henry Shellman officiating. Burial followed in
Crystal Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Powell died Thursday,
April 4, 2002 at Providence Health Care. Coggins
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs.
Powell was a native of Hall County, Ga. but had lived
most of her life in Upson County. She was retired
from B.F. Goodrich/Martha Mills as a respooler with
38 years of service. Survivors include her daughter,
Mrs. Peggy (Bill) Storey of Thomaston; granddaughter,
Sherry Lynn Kilby of Thomaston; grandson, Stephen
Bailey of Thomaston; sisters, Mrs. Dessie Storey,
Mrs. Myrtle Jenkins, Mrs. Mildred Pasley all of
Thomaston, Mrs. Ruby Lord of Tennell, and Mrs. Helen
Dye of Sandersville. 


Funeral services for Ms. Laura Mae ZELLNER, 56, of
Barnesville, will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2002
at 2:30 p.m. at the Sand Hill C.M.E. Church, with
Rev. Eddie F. Collier officiating. Burial will follow
in Greenwood Cemetery. Ms. Zellner died Thursday,
April 4, 2002 at Spalding Regional Medical Center in

Funeral services for Mrs. Mimmie Fuller SLATON, 90,
of Woodbury, will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2002

Cemetery. Mrs. Slaton died Thursday, April 4, 2002 at
Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital. Bentley & Sons

Mrs. Jewell Weathers STARLING, 58, of Thomaston, died
Saturday, April 6, 2002 at her residence. Funeral
arrangements will be announced at a later date by
Bentley & Sons Funeral Home. Survivors include her
four children, Mr. Everett Starling of Korea, Mr.
Greg (Bridgette) Starling of Fort Myers, Va., Mr.
Miguel Starling and Ms. Kristin Starling both of
Thomaston; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Doris
(Charlie) Dorsey and Ms. Patricia Weathers both of
Thomaston; brother and sisters-in-law, Mr. Mitchell
Carthon of Albany, Mrs. Celestine Weathers of
Thomaston and Mrs. Earnestine Weathers of San Diego,
Calif.; aunts, Mrs. Smithie Hartsfield and Mrs.
Adelaide Harris both of Thomaston and Mrs. Mary Jones
of Chicago, Ill.; a host of devoted nieces, nephews,
relatives and close friends who will miss her dearly.

Eric Michael Dixon Funeral services for Mr. Eric
Michael Dixon, 41, of Barnesville, will be held

Baptist Church in Milner, with pastor E.J. O'Neal
officiating. Burial will follow in West Mt. Siani
Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Dixon died Friday, April
5, 2002 at Spalding Regional Hospital. Bentleys and

Funeral services for Miss Virginia Marcel TIDWELL,
90, of Yatesville, were held Sunday, April 7, 2002 at
2 p.m. at the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home,
with Rev. Steve Maguire officiating. Burial followed
in New Hope Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Yatesville.
Miss. Tidwell died Friday, April 5, 2002 at
Providence Health Care. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements. Miss Tidwell was born
in Bartow County, Ga. in 1921 and had lived in
Yatesville since 1946. She retired from William
Carter Company in Barnesville. She was a member of
Pine Grove Baptist Church in Cartersville. Survivors
her sisters, Mrs. Sara (Jerry) Snow of Yatesville,
Mrs. Eloise Glass of Marietta; a brother, Mr. Norton
(Louise) Tidwell of Thomaston and several nieces and
nephews. 

Memorial services for Mrs. Elsie WILLIAMS, 67, of
Johnston Drive, were held Monday, April 8, 2002 at 11
a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev.
David Delph and dr. Albert E. Simmons officiating.
Mrs. Williams died Friday, April 5, 2002 at Christian
Ministries Hospice of Griffin. Pasley-Fletcher
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs.
Williams was born in London, England in 1934 and had
lived in Thomaston since the early 60's. She was
preceded in death by her son Tony Eugene Williams.
She was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and
the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her
husband, Mr. Eugene C. Williams of Thomaston;
daughters, Mrs. Pete (Debbie) Cavan of Tuscaloosa,
Ala, and Mrs. Eddie (Tina) Rogers of Thomaston;
grandchildren, Jess and Chelsie Rogers of Thomaston
and David, Stuart and Ashley Cavan of Tuscaloosa,
Ala.; sister, Mrs. Jean Reeve of London, England;
brothers, Mr. Joe Spensley of Fayetteville and Mr.
David Spensley of London, England.

C.A. Jernigan, and Rev. Jimmy Fleming officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mrs.
McCarty died Friday, April 5, 2002. McKoon Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include
her husband, Tim McCarty of Newnan; mother, Dixie
Scott of Elijay; daughter, Christie Leigh Williams of
Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Margie Noblitt of Tenn.;
brothers, Jeffrey Scott of Jacksonville, Fla., James
Scott of Port Richey, Fla. and Gregory Scott of
Ellijay; two grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her father, Melvin R. Scott. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Allen WHITE, 91, of
Florida, will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 11
a.m. at the Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home, with Rev.
McCoy Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, Fla. Mrs. White
died Wednesday, April 3, 2002. Beyers Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. White was born in
Thomaston. She lived in Leesburg since 1949. She was
a realtor for 45 years in Lake County and retired
when she was 87. Mrs. White was a member of Morrison
United Methodist Church. Survivors include her
daughter, Valerie White Anthony of Lake Mary, Fla.; a
son, H. Wayne White of Fruitland Park, Fla.; and four
grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions may
be made to United Methodist Children's Home, 1005
West Main Street, Leesburg, Fla. 34748.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie Wall WATSON, 87,
of Dawson, were held Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 2
p.m. at the Chapel of Harvey Funeral Home, with Rev.
James R. Emery officiating. Burial followed in Cedar
Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Watson died Monday, April 8, 2002
at Dawson Manor Nursing Home. Harvey Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Watson was a native
of Upson County, born April 22, 1915. She was the
daughter of the late James Furman Trice and the late
Sara Jeanie Smith Trice. She was the valedictorian of
her graduating class at Robert E. Lee Institute, and
a graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.S.
Degree in Education. She was a resident of Dawson
most of her life and was a retired school teacher
with the terrell County School System. She taught 36
years in Sasser, Parrott and Dawson Schools. Mrs.
Watson was a member of the Old Herod Chapter of the
Daughters of the American revolution, a member of the
Dawson United Methodist Church, the dawson United
Methodist Women and the Epworth Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 33
years, William Ezekiel Wall and her second husband of
eight years, Woodrow Watson and a daughter, Mary Jean
Wall Fulford. Survivors include her grandson, William
Gardner (Cindy) Fulford, III of Mount Airy; great-
grandson, William Ezekiel Fulford, of Mount Airy;
son-in-law, William Gardner (Judy) Fulford, Jr. of
Gadsden, Ala.; sister, Myrtle Sands of Winter Park,
Fla.; step-son, Larry (Eleanor) Watson of Albany; two
step-daughters, Joyce Starrak of Tifton and Gail and
Keith O'Mary of Sasser. Memorials may be made to the
Dawson United Methodist Church or to a favorite
charity. 

Mrs. Margie H. Garmon, 43, of Solomon Street in the
Lincoln Park Community, died Wednesday, April 10,
2002. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a

daughter of the late James Furman Trice and the late
Sara Jeanie Smith Trice. She was the valedictorian of
her graduating class at Robert E. Lee Institute, and
a graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.S.
Degree in Education. She was a resident of Dawson
most of her life and was a retired school teacher
with the terrell County School System. She taught 36
years in Sasser, Parrott and Dawson Schools. Mrs.
Watson was a member of the Old Herod Chapter of the
Daughters of the American revolution, a member of the
Dawson United Methodist Church, the dawson United
Methodist Women and the Epworth Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 33
years, William Ezekiel Wall and her second husband of
eight years, Woodrow Watson and a daughter, Mary Jean
Wall Fulford. Survivors include her grandson, William
Gardner (Cindy) Fulford, III of Mount Airy; great-
grandson, William Ezekiel Fulford, of Mount Airy;
son-in-law, William Gardner (Judy) Fulford, Jr. of

Thomaston  Times 4-1-02 Andrew Christopher MCINVALE
Funeral services for Mr. Andrew Christopher McInvale,
27, of New Orleans, were held Thursday, March 28,
2002 at Lake Lawn metairie Funeral Home. Burial
followed at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans. Mr.
McInvale died Monday, March 25, 2002 from injuries
suffered in a traffic accident. Lake Lawn Metairie
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr.
McInvale was born in Warren, Ohio and lived in New
Orleans for the past 10 years. He graduated from
Isidore Newman School, from Vanderbilt University
with honors and was a doctoral student at Tulane
Medical School in Slidell. He was a member of the
University of New Orleans Guitar Quartet and the
Society for Neuroscience. He received the Individual
National Research Service Award from the National
Institute of Health, twice won the Jean Yocum Harlan
Prize for research by a Tulaire Neuroscience student,
won the student research prize from Sigma Xi, a
worldwide scientific honor society, and won student
awards from the Association for Research in
Otolaryngology and the Society for Neuroscience.
Survivors include his father, Gerald McInvale;
mother, Patricia Haney McInvale both of New orleans;
grandmother, Mrs. Emory (sara) Heath of Thomaston;
aunts and uncles, Mr. Dennis (Peggy) Presley of
Newnan, Mr. Rudy (Vicki) Rozier of Thomaston, Mr.
Tommy (Cindy) McInvale of Thomaston; grandparents,
the late, Mr. Robert Frank Haney, and Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis D. McInvale. 



Kemple Piper PITTMAN Funeral services for Mrs. Kemple
Piper Pittman, 73, of 5th Avenue, were held Saturday,
March 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Pasley-Fletcher
Chapel. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Mrs. Pittman died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Upson
Regional Medical Center. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Pittman was a
native of Dodge County, Ga., and a resident of Upson
County since 1946. She was a retired twister and card
room worker from the Martha Mills Division of the
B..F Goodrich Company and was a member of the
Thomaston Church of God. mr. and Mrs. Pittman had
been married for 55 years. Survivors include her
husband, Mr. Jessie F. Pittman of Thomaston; daughter
and son-in-law, Mrs. Doris P. (Donald) Thomas of
Thomaston; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. Kenneth
(Delorese) Pittman of Havana, Fla.; sisters, Mrs.
Sybil Bryan, Mrs. Alma Newman both of Hawkinsville,
Mrs. Evelyn Hamlin of Fayetteville, Mrs. Gloria Smith

services for Mrs. Lizzie Hollis Woumum, 94, of Butler
Street in the Lincoln Park Community, were held on
Monday, April 1, 2002 at 12 noon, from the Pleasant

Gardner officiating. Burial followed in the church
cemetery. Mrs. Woumum died Thursday, March 28, 2002.

Woumum of Atlanta and Mr. Robert (Frances) Woumum of

Joel Leonard EPPINGER Graveside services for Mr. Joel
Leonard Eppinger, 34, of Molena, will be held on
Tuesday, April 2, 2002 in the Mt. Olive Baptist
Church Cemetery in Molena with the Rev. Fred Blackmon
officiating. Mr. Eppinger died Thursday, March 28,

Pauline Johnson Heath KENT Funeral services for Mrs.
Pauline Johnson Heath Kent, 87, of East County Road,
will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at
the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev.
Joey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in South
View Cemetery. Mrs. Kent died Sunday, March 31, 2002
at Providence Health Care. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kent was a
native of Upson County. She had been employed by
Rich's Department Store in the interior design
department, and during World War II she worked at
Lockheed as an aircraft riveter. Mrs. Kent was a
member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. Survivors
include her sister, Mrs. Maudell J. Lowry of
Thomaston; a brother, Mr. Odell Johnson of
Milledgeville; several nieces and nephews; serval
great-nieces and nephews and several great-great
nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to East Thomaston Baptist
Church. 


Mrs. Inez BURKETT, 73 of Avenue F died Sunday, March
31, 2002 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral
arrangements will be announced later by Coggins

April 10, 2002 Marjorie Wall WATSON Funeral services
for Mrs. Marjorie Wall Watson, 87, of Dawson, were
held Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the
Chapel of Harvey Funeral Home, with Rev. James R.
Emery officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Hill
Cemetery. Mrs. Watson died Monday, April 8, 2002 at
Dawson Manor Nursing Home. Harvey Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements. Mrs. Watson was a native of
Upson County, born April 22, 1915. She was the
daughter of the late James Furman Trice and the late
Sara Jeanie Smith Trice. She was the valedictorian of
her graduating class at Robert E. Lee Institute, and
a graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.S.
Degree in Education. She was a resident of Dawson
most of her life and was a retired school teacher
with the terrell County School System. She taught 36
years in Sasser, Parrott and Dawson Schools. Mrs.
Watson was a member of the Old Herod Chapter of the
Daughters of the American revolution, a member of the
Dawson United Methodist Church, the dawson United
Methodist Women and the Epworth Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 33
years, William Ezekiel Wall and her second husband of
eight years, Woodrow Watson and a daughter, Mary Jean
Wall Fulford. Survivors include her grandson, William
Gardner (Cindy) Fulford, III of Mount Airy; great-
grandson, William Ezekiel Fulford, of Mount Airy;
son-in-law, William Gardner (Judy) Fulford, Jr. of
Gadsden, Ala.; sister, Myrtle Sands of Winter Park,
Fla.; step-son, Larry (Eleanor) Watson of Albany; two
step-daughters, Joyce Starrak of Tifton and Gail and
Keith O'Mary of Sasser. Memorials may be made to the
Dawson United Methodist Church or to a favorite
charity. 



Mrs. Margie H. GARMON, 43, of Solomon Street in the
Lincoln Park Community, died Wednesday, April 10,

years in Thomaston Mills and was a member of Emory's

include her husband, Mr. Milton HElms of Thomaston;
