The Atlanta Journal-The Atlanta Constitution
January 19, 1954

Ivey H. Smith, 65, of 3333 Batchelor Ave. East Point,
retired carpenter, died yesterday morning in a private
hospital after an illness of one week. Funeral services
will be held at 11 a. m. tomorrow in the Willingham
Drive Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Cherry and the
Rev. T. G. Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in
Hillcrest Cemetery.

Prior to his retirement 10 years ago Mr. Smith had been
an independent carpenter contractor for many years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Estelle
Tidwell, also a native of Crawford County; three
daughters, Mrs. Charles E. Matthews, Crystal River,
Fla; Mrs. G. D. Steele, Augusta; Mrs. C. F. Thomas,
East Point; two sons James F. Smith, Atlanta; Dwain
Smith, East Point; four sisters, Mrs. Abner Youngblood
and Mrs. Walter Melvin, Roberta; Mrs. J. T. Giles,
Byron; Mrs. Hugh Watson, Macon; two brothers, Albert
and Kelly Smith, Fort Valley; eight grandchildren and a
great-grandchild.

........The article has misspelled Ruby Lee's married
name which should be Mathews.....

He lived in East Point, GA but was a native of Crawford Co., GA.
